About this property
Kate's DC Modern Designer Urban Oasis
My lovely house in the heart of northeast DC was built in 2022. It's a bright and sun-filled corner DC rowhouse with four living levels that allow you to work, play, and relax all throughout the house. The house is a unit within a small rowhouse community that is a 10-minute walk to the metro where three different metro lines converge to get you all around DC, Maryland, and Virginia without a car. Within a five minute walk are several grocery stores (Aldi, Wal-Mart) and several fast-food chains (Chick-fil-A, Wing-Stop, Five Guys, Subway) however our little community feels like a lovely oasis separated from the hustle and bustle of the city. My rowhouse has an interior location in the community which means for quiet nights.
Here's a snapshot of the house, bedrooms, and amenities:
First floor: dedicated work space (desk and monitor provided), L-shaped couch which is the size of a twin bed, and a basic smart TV. This is where my kids play their video games. There is a garage which, with prior arrangement, can be made available to you if you have a rental car or are bringing your own car.
Second floor: Kitchen, balcony off kitchen with herbs and veggies, dining room, and living room. Powder room (1/2 bath) off of kitchen. The couch in the living room can serve as a twin bed as well. There is a frame TV mounted above the working (gas) fireplace.
Third floor: Two bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bedroom (full-sized bed) has an ensuite shower and a desk area. The hall bathroom has the bathtub. The second bedroom has a twin bed with multiple twin mattresses under it which can create a fun almost camp-experience for multiple kids.
Fourth floor/loft: Principal bedroom and bathroom with walk-in closet. There is a lovely balcony off of the bedroom that has an outdoor couch, two chairs, ottomans, and side tables. The orientation of the house happily blocks the sun in the late afternoon hours and is the perfect place to sip a cocktail and try to get a peek at the dome of the National Basilica as well as the Capitol.
What you will love about this neighborhood
The house is a unit within a brand-new small rowhouse community that is a 10-minute walk to the metro where three different metro lines (red, green, yellow) converge to get you all around DC, Maryland, and Virginia without a car. Within a five minute walk are several grocery stores (Aldi, Wal-Mart) and several fast-food chains (Chick-fil-A, Wing-Stop, Five Guys, Subway) however our little community feels like a lovely oasis separated from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you are up for walking 20 minutes, you will find one of the best pizza places in the city (Brightwood Bottle and Tap) beside one of the best ice cream shops in the city (Everyday Sundae).
By taking the metro just several stops into downtown DC, you will have access to our world-famous museums (over 20 different museums and Smithsonian institutions to choose from, including Air and Space, Natural History, American History, National Archives, the Library of Congress, Lincoln Memorial, and more), the U.S. Capitol, the White House, Union Station (if arriving/departing by train or just a great place to grab lunch or shop). If you love trees and nature, you are a 15 minute drive from the National Arboretum, a hidden treasure in NE DC. I am happy to help you plan an itinerary that meets your needs while you are in DC.
Within four blocks (approx. a 7 minute walk) of my rowhouse are the following:
- a brand-new public library with lots of community space and rooms available to use.
- OneLife Fitness, if you need to get your gym on while you are staying at my house.
- a playground at LaSalle-Riggs Elementary School
- several pharmacies (Raamdass, WalMart)
Additional information
I'm an interior designer and this house was just a labor of love for me. I'm a 23-year resident of DC and love the city. Happy to share my house with like-minded folks!
