The only reason we’re giving Kathy and Phil 5 stars is because you can’t give 6 stars. I needed a place to rehab and relax after a surgery and this guesthouse was exactly what the doctor ordered. I know the neighborhood well as it is one of the nicest in the Valley. A safe, suburban enclave on a huge lot. Close enough to the touristy areas, while not being in the tourist area. We felt fortunate that Phil and Kathy’s place was available. Booking was easy. Check-in was even easier. Just picked up the keys and the gate clicker from inside poolhouse. The guesthouse is across the pool from the main house. Perfect location to give you privacy, yet not feel completely isolated. There is, however, a completely private backyard with seating areas in the back of this back house if feeling isolated is your thing. It’s a cute place. Nice living room area. Comfortable couch. Dining area with a wall of lighted glass cabinets. Two bedrooms, both with direct access to the outdoors. Nice bathroom. Very clean. Plenty of storage. Funny, the shower was my one hesitation based on the pics I saw before I came. But it was actually really nice. Much larger than it looked in the pics, with a 3 wall curtain that turns it into an enclosed shower. The place is stocked with everything you need, and I mean everything. I’d say just bring your toothbrush, but there were actually toothbrushes there. And bandaids, facial masks, hair products, nail files, pain relievers, sun block, pepto bismal, antacids, calamine lotion, dental floss, sewing kit, towels, slippers, robes, all the pots and pans you’ll need, dishes, glasses, oatmeal, soup, diced peaches...even an unopened box of Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes. I forgot my heating pad. No problem, there was a heating pad in the closet. There are 3 flat screen tv’s all with cable, a bunch of premium movie channels and NetFlix . And the wi fi works perfectly. Kathy has made a pool house guide. Passwords and everything you need are in the guide. The grounds and the pool are beautiful. Kathy has set up all these little seating areas around the property (it’s a huge property) from swing sets in the front to a really nice gazebo in the back. The area in front of the guesthouse has about a dozen comfy chairs and a few tables under shade as well. Just a really nice place to hang out. The pool was perfect. It was in the 90s a lot of the time, and we spent a lot of time in the pool. We loved the pool. Our host, Kathy and Phil, were great. Really nice people. Friendly and attentive. We actually spent some time hanging out with them a little. Just talking. Well it was mostly my wife and Kathy that talked. But Phil and I listened :) By the way, the absolute best deli in Southern California, according to Zagot and me, Brent’s Deli, is 7 minutes away. Take out and delivery are available. We would highly recommend Kathy and Phil’s guesthouse. It was a great place and a great experience. Wish we could have stayed longer. Steve and Tashi

The Poolhouse is an absolute paradise, from the pool, to the spa and outdoor seating; the pictures don’t do it justice. Had an amazing bed that was so comfy and the closet was complimented with robes and slippers which was really a considerate touch. Had a sound machine , an Alexa, and a sound canceling machine. They
also had snacks, soda, wine, a stocked medicine cabinet... anything you could possibly need. They really put a lot of effort into making sure our stay was perfect. It was also so nice of Kathy to be able to get us guest passes to “the magic castle,” which is member only. It was an absolutely amazing show and the dinner was to die for. I’ve never experienced something like that and I can assure you I’ll be coming back for that. The house was in such a good location; only about 20 minutes away from everything you’ll be wanting to see. Furthermore, Kathy and the co-hosts made sure we had everything we needed for our stay, and provided us with recommendations on what to do locally which we loved!! Don’t miss out on this one!!!

WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Philip, Kathleen and Ashley were great host and were very professional from the start. As soon as we booked our trip, Ashley sent us an email within minutes and confirmed our stay. Ashely was great at answering all the emails leading up to our vacation. The place was amazing and definitely better than the photos. They have a huge outside living area with multiple spots to hang out. The swimming pool was great and the two fire pits add a nice touch. The backyard/plants are well maintained. As soon as we got there, we were blown away on what was offered. Bottles of wine and cider was waiting for us. The also had a great selection of coffee, which made our morning exciting (choosing one flavor over another). They have everything in that room, from extra towels, utensils, wine glasses, toiletries, microwave, etc.. etc.. etc... They also have embraced technology. They have Alexa there (amazon echo) and a device that measures your sleep - very cool! Bed is amazing and the room is very clean. They are located outside your typical LA toursity places. There is really no central place in LA, but we thought the location was great. Yes, you do have to drive everywhere, but that is all LA. We actually appreciated that we were outside the hustle and bustle of downtown LA/Sta Monica, but we had our own oasis. Everywhere was max 30 min drive (as long as you don't hit rush hour). Lastly, Philip, Kathleen and Ashely were great hosts. They were super nice, very helpful and gave us a lot of recommendations on what to do and where to eat. They were also very accommodating. Do yourself a favor and book this place now

This is Caliifornia, so outdoor living is a must. A pair of French doors open onto a comfortably furnished outdoor patio overlooking the pool. Warm yourself in front of the glass fire pit, perhaps use the barbecue area.
This truly is a place you have a lot of options, take a dip in the pool, dine al fresco am or pm, relax with book.
