Marvin,
we enjoyed having your group! thanks for taking such good care of our home!
We enjoyed every moment in that house. Exceptional location and it has all necessary amenities for 4 adults. It is close proximity (in kind of the way middle) to Homer (mainly for ocean fishing) and Seward (mainly for ocean fishing and Kenai Fjords tours). WE got lucky and got an excellent fishing experience from backyard dock. Will come again and highly recommend.
Great location. House was very well equipped and even stocked some extras like popcorn, tea, some spices, oils and more. Beautiful huge basket of fruits and vegetables to welcome us, plus assorted Alaskan beers and wine. Anything we needed was promptly attended to. Really enjoyed this home. Very welcoming and comfortable. Great beds, too!

You can't beat the river in the back yard, the fire pit and a fantastic house to stay in with a very convenient location to everything. They provide a maintenance man who was invaluable, what a great guy! A entire crew if needed, I recommend this house to everyone! We enjoyed having Klaus and his group, they were a very friendly and exuberant group. All the neighbors loved them and enjoyed watching them fish and enjoy the river. They were really nice guests. They were respectful of the property and we would enjoy having them back again someday.
We had a great time staying here for the second time! Our timing was good and we hit the red salmon run. It was a joy to deal with the owner and responded with lightning speed to all our questions. Thank you for sharing your river house!

Paradise on the Kenai River
This a wonderful property with all of the amenities found at home. The kitchen is very functional and well equipped and the personal living spaces both comfortable and quiet. There's a large yard that overlooks the river and access to the river is perfect for fishing. Even though it's near the heart of town, the street out front is quiet with few passing cars. A large freezer is provided for those fortunate to catch a bountiful of fish, although we were not lucky enough to make much use of it. All in all, a lovely rental that my group very much wants to come back to in the future.

About the host
Hosted by Virginia Curry
Our family is spread far and wide from Alaska to Arizona, Oregon, Texas Florida and New York. Our home in Alaska gives us the opportunity to go home and mingle together in a quiet, peaceful place that brings our family together. Spending time with Grandkids and allowing them to experience the freedom and wilderness wonderland we experienced as children and young adults is priceless.
Why they chose this property
Virginia Grew up next door to this property; fondly known as the Gehrke Homestead and has known the former owners for 50 years. Our family considers the Gehrkes to be family, we have shared many life experiences together and our mothers are good friends and neighbors to this day. Owning this home was a dream come true.
What makes this property unique
The Gehrke Homestead resides at the end of Knight Dr. Close to everything "town" but yet secluded and quiet; offering one of the most serene views and best fishing holes on the river. The Home built by the Gehrke family actually consists of two historical buildings that were bought by Vern Gehrke in the 70's when he decided to expand his home. The snow cone shack and the pancake house from Kenai were bought and moved to the property. Vern turned these into a warm and cozy home for his wife three daughters and mother in law. When you stay at our home you stay in a little piece of peninsula history.
