Located a few miles north of Driggs, Idaho and only a few hundred yards from the Wyoming state line, this is your home base for all-season outdoor adventure. Powder skiing at Grand Targhee, mountain biking in the Big Hole Mountains, and world-famous fly-fishing are only a short drive away. Jackson Hole is 45 minutes over the pass and West Yellowstone is about 90 minutes north. Driggs was named, "the best small town in America" by Men's Journal in 2001. We think it's still true today!

The spacious cabin accommodates up to five (5) guests and is perfect for family vacations, artist/writer retreats, or anyone else looking to get away from it all. Bird watching, hiking, kayaking, skiing, fishing, and fresh mountain air are all at your command.

Horseshoe Cabin features high ceilings, a modern wood-burning stove, four (2) comfortable bedrooms plus loft, two (2) bathrooms, and excellent views of the Big Hole Mountains. Sip your coffee on the two large decks and keep an eye out for moose, fox, eagles, and other local wildlife.

Horseshoe Cabin's bright and airy great room features a fully stocked kitchen, dining room that seats five (5), and a comfortable living room with 8-foot leather sofa. The upstairs Bedroom #2 sleeps two adults in two single beds. Bedroom #1 is downstairs and has a queen bed with forest views and access to the back deck. the Loft room is in the open loft and features two single futons for kids on the floor, and games and play space. Horseshoe Cabin is the ideal place to build a fire, whip up a home-cooked meal, and relax after a big day exploring the mountains or floating the Teton River.

About the host

Host profile image
We bought this cabin in 2001 as a vacation getaway for family and friends. We started ColterCabins soon after. We grew up in Cincinnati; Jim worked for Jones Lang LaSalle managing real estate, and Ginger taught Montessori. We spend lots of family time here in this corner of Idaho, Wyoming, Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons. Our family love to hike, ski, kayak and cook big dinners for family and friends.

Why they chose this property

This area of Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana is just gorgeous. There are so many beautiful areas to visit – mountains, waterfalls, rivers, fields of wildflowers throughout the summer, and great snow all winter. We are 80 minutes from Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons - both wonderful day trips. You will want to be outdoors every day of your stay! Late spring is the best time to see the animals with their new offspring, and October brings the spectacular golden "quaking" leaves on the aspen trees.

What makes this property unique

This cabin is an often-used family cabin. We have games and cards and lots of excellent cooking equipment, cake pans, pie plates, waffle maker and pancake griddle - and spices in the kitchen. Beds are super comfy with blankets comforters and quilts. There is a Canon printer, badminton net, two decks in the trees with big cushioned sofa and chairs, outdoor dining table and picnic table. We love the quiet, beautiful views of sunrise and sunset over the ranch land and Big Hole Mountains. We have local maps and books, and even bedtime books for the little ones.
