About this property

Log cabin staycation for families! Beautiful country setting.

PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
The property is located in beautiful Henry County. It’s only 40 minutes away from Iowa City and 7 minutes from Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. The property features walking trails and a 2 acre pond stocked with fish for our guests to enjoy. We also have 6 kayaks for guests to use. Nearby are wineries, antique shops and many quaint small towns. Beautiful place to relax and get away from it all. Each bedroom has a queen bed with brand new luxury mattresses and two of the rooms have twin beds in them, perfect for a family. The home has three floors, a hot tub and a pool table for our guests to enjoy. There is a fire pit outside and a beautiful screened porch for sitting and relaxing. Great place to spend a weekend for Hawkeye Events. Very private area, no visible neighbors. A brand new Traeger grill is available for our guests. A piece of paradise awaits you here. A 10% discount will be given to guests who stay 7 days or longer.

Start the dishwasher
Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Checkout by 2 pm
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
We ask that our guests not track in with muddy shoes and take care of the place as if it were their own.
Children must be supervised while in the hot tub and near the pond. No small children are allowed to use the pool table.
The ceramic cooktop must be cleaned after every use. I have cleaner provided on the counter next to the stove.

Perfect country hideaway. Friends adult weekend with no kids. Guys spent most of the time enjoying fishing and kayaking the pond, hanging around the pool table and having a bags tournament. Ladies enjoyed the hot tub and having some quiet time to themselves to just read a book. Cabin is well stocked and the host was very gracious to us.

Family Christmas

A great place for our family to get together for a few days. Plenty of room for all of us. Large kitchen to make meals, large comfortable rooms to just sit around for conversation and play games. Beautiful property for morning walks. Highly recommend.

Anniversary Celebration

Our children and grandchildren joined us for a terrific weekend getaway at Fred and Becky’s beautiful home. We enjoyed the privacy and the wide assortment of activities for the kids. The pond provided hours of entertainment and the walking trails were great for evenings. Highly recommend for others

Great family fun!

You can ask for no more! The cabin was absolutely beautiful. Very clean and comfortable and well supplied. The property is very secluded and peaceful. Plenty to keep the family busy between the kayaking, fishing and the trails. Last but not least the host were wonderful, Becky was great! We will be back!!!

Slice of Heaven in the Country.

This was my family's 2nd stay here. We loved it just as much, if not more than the 1st. Becky went above and beyond to welcome us. Her hospitality is top notch. If I could give higher than 5 stars I would. They have practically anything you would need at the cabin. If you're looking for a quiet getaway at a beautiful spot, this is it.

Is this heaven?

No, it’s iowa! What a beautiful property and cabin. We were greeted with a homemade lemon pound cake and wonderful weather. The cabin had everything we needed and more. Hot tub was delightful, pool table was used often, and the snacks at the downstairs bar were a great bonus. We went on a fun walk around the pond, took a trip to a local winery (East Grove Farms - would definitely recommend!), and had lots of fun catching up with old friends. Very kid friendly place to stay. Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful and secluded, but easy to find. Perfect for large groups!

Our stay was wonderful. We brought groceries, clothes, fishing poles, and oursleves- no need for anything else! House and grounds were clean and well cared for; beds and furniture were comfortable and up-to-date. Felt like we had everything we needed and more! One family member brought some essentials and never unpacked them- she commented that so frequently it says 'everything you need' and it isn't true, but this was the real deal!! Our family loved our weekend and our stay, and we couldn't be more thankful for Becky's communication before, during, and after.

Spectacular!

Our family spent 5 days at this gorgeous property. It was blissful! Our teen kids loved exploring the property, fishing, kayaking, playing pool and so much more. We spent our evenings visiting and playing games. We so appreciated that the TV wasn't on the main floor which made it so much easier to just be together as a family and enjoy laughing and playing games. Becky was the best host. The home was immaculate, the kitchen was stocked with all the essentials, the linens were high quality & so soft...I could go on & on! Thank you Becky for giving our family such wonderful memories. We will be back!

Beautiful property very accomidating for our large family and well equipped with everything!

We do an annual cookie bake every year so there are several families coming in from different areas. The cabin felt like we were right at home. You can feel the love and warmth the Showalters have put into the home. Becky was a pleasure to work with and very accommodating making sure we had everything there that we needed. She went way above and beyond what needed to be!! The cabin is very clean and comfortable. One of our favorite things we all said was how nice it was that there was no tv In the main living room so we could all converse, while enjoying the fire. Becky had it beautifully decorated for the holidays. The views are breath taking. I would highly recommend this property, you will not be disappointed! We are hoping to make this an annual trip!

The Perfect Place

Our Family gathered together for a wonderful Thanksgiving. We traveled back to Iowa from Missouri, Kentucky, and Texas to celebrate with our Iowa family. From the first contact with Becky to the time we locked the cabin door to say good-bye, our family was thrilled with everything. Becky had lovingly decorated the cabin, the fresh baked cookies and filled welcome baskets to make us feel right at home. The kitchen/pantry had everything we needed without having to worry about going to town to pick up things we had forgotten. The large dining room table was perfect for meals, visiting, and games. We were lucky enough to still have snow on the ground for our Texas grandchildren to build their first snowman. The children also enjoyed exploring the outdoors. A wonderful place to celebrate with family.

Perfect Getaway!

Owner was great to work with, and communicated with us promptly. We were welcomed like family. All the pictures, descriptions, everything was accurate, and the home/property itself was awesome. There were 10 of us total and there was plenty of space. Never felt like you were crowded. The pond was a lot of fun, and having kayaks already there to use was awesome. There was some firewood there for the fire ring, a hot tub (with towels just for the hot tub), a beverage fridge downstairs by the pool table, extra fans, folding tables and chairs... and there were labels here and there to help you find what you're looking for. It really saved us on planning and let us come, relax, and enjoy. Thank you for sharing your home!

Wonderful spot!

We couldn't find a better place to gather with family. Lovely log home, with everything we needed. Lots of things to keep the kids busy, kayaks, fishing, indoor and outdoor games, fire pit, just good fun! Becky is a wonderful hostess and supplies lots of extras. We'll be back!

Beautiful house off the beaten path

We absolutely enjoyed our stay here! The house and view we STUNNING! We loved that there were no visible neighbors so we didn’t have to worry about noise or anything. We also enjoyed the pond and wild life. Over all very happy with our stay.

Everything you need!

This is a gorgeous cabin with plenty of space for a large group. The log home is very clean and has everything you will need. The pantry is well stocked for any forgotten item. The pond provided hours of fun for our beginning fishermen along with kayaks to paddle and relax. Excellent communication with the hosts, who left snacks and breakfast items for items for our family. We will be back.

A gorgeous property, that was perfect for our families weekend getaway.

The cabin had comfortable sleeping and plenty of common areas with a hot tub, Netflix, and internet. The owners went above and beyond to make us feel at home by added hospitality of snacks and meals. The real beauty of this rental is the outdoor and recreational space. The pond is entertainment for fishing, swimming, and kayaking, and the endless mowed trails made for beautiful views, exercise, and peaceful walks at sunset.

Don’t miss out on this one!

This was an awesome place for an extended family gathering / celebration weekend. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for multiple families & generations. Fishing was great - all kids caught many bass. The kayaks were used all day long. The pool table got plenty of use one rainy morning. The hosts were very responsive and included many “extras” which made the trip even more fun - breakfast casserole, cookies, and treats throughout the house. Definitely a place we would return to for future family gatherings.

Green Creek Retreat

10 of us stayed at the log cabin and there was plenty of room inside and out. The grounds and cabin are beautiful, clean and serene. There was something for everyone to do or just simply unwind. Fishing, kayaking, hiking, grilling and outdoor games (some provided) kept us busy. We have rented homes before but never have had so many extras to make us feel welcome! Becky (hostess) was so easy to work with and answered our questions promptly. If you want to unwind, relax and get close to nature this is the place for you. We would definitely stay again.

Great time!

Our family of 11, adults, preschooler and toddlers, had a relaxing, VERY enjoyable 4th of July weekend at this location. We were all very comfortable in the cabin, took hikes on the trails and then relaxed while listening to nature in the hot tub. There were many games available that added to our enjoyment. The hosts were wonderful and left us several food surprises. Would highly recommend this location to all!!

We purchased this property in 2017. My husband and I love the peace and quiet here. We have some adjoining land near this property and always wanted a weekend place to go to. We are both ISU graduates and are retired now.

Why they chose this property

This area is so beautiful and not that far from our permanent home. We have grandchildren and grown children so this is a great place for us all to meet at. It is so quiet and peaceful at our log cabin.

What makes this property unique

No visible neighbors. It’s only 7 miles to great restaurants and shopping. Mowed walking trails to enjoy and lots of wildlife to see. Look out the windows and see the gorgeous pond and deer in the yard. Stunning sunsets. Beautiful log home in a scenic part of Iowa. A real slice of paradise.
