Overall the stay was perfect for my brother and me to have a 4-day getaway. The beds were comfortable (most important), the kitchen had all the basics we needed, and the place stayed nice and warm. The bathroom could use some work; the shower-tub diverter mechanism needs to be replaced and there's nowhere to put/hang things in there, but the towels were thick and soft and the water was beautifully hot! We found the woodstove gave off too much smoke, so we used the space heater instead, and that worked great. The neighborhood was lovely, with big trees and friendly people. The steep bumpy driveway could be rough on a regular car; we had a larger SUV so it was doable. Easy walk to downtown with good options for eating. We would definitely return.

Castle house is the spot to stay! I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to stay here. James was so fair with his pricing and it literally had everything you needed and more:) But what really resonated with me is the sense of peace that really pours through his house and property. Watching the wildlife come to the patio, seeing the backdrop of the Mount Shasta, and feeling the sunshine cascade through the trees. Just an amazing adventure! Thank you James:)

The host made everything every easy and smooth during our check in process. He went above and beyond when I had issues booking through VRBO and did everything needed to make sure we were able to secure a booking. The property was clean and very nice.

Why they chose this property

The trees on the property are quite lovely and the neighborhood is quiet.

What makes this property unique

It is a rustic house with a wood stove which provides plenty of heat in the winter. There are also baseboard heaters in the bedrooms. Pets are welcome and there is a fenced back yard. If you enjoy cooking your own meals, the kitchen is complete with stainless steel appliances.
