Small glitch getting checked in, but once we got a hold of the host they made it right and everything was smooth afterwards. Property is very close to active train track, makes the stay more interesting.

Finding this abode was challenging as the address took us to an RV park rather than the actual house. Then, the instructions to get the key out of the lockbox were not specific enough, so someone had to be called to let us in. Not a good start! The next morning there was no hot water for showers. Again, a call to our hostess solved that. The accommodations were very nice. However, my daughter counted 19 trains that went by on the nearby track our first night. Paxico is a precious village and we spent several hours shopping at Mill Creek Antiques and meeting Bud Hund, the owner, was memorable! As a welcome gift, our hostess left a dozen of her ranch-raised eggs in the frig in a beautiful box! What a nice surprise that was!Carolyn & Kathy VosburgHouston, TX

Carolyn & Kathy, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re so glad you enjoyed the accommodations, your time exploring Paxico, and especially the fresh eggs! We’re sorry your arrival wasn’t as smooth as we would have liked. The home is part of the Mill Creek Campground property, which can sometimes cause a little confusion when first arriving. We appreciate your feedback regarding the directions and lockbox instructions and will take another look at them to see how we can make check-in clearer for future guests. The hot water issue was truly my fault but it was an easy fix once you contacted me and let me know. As for the trains, the railroad is part of the character and history of our little Kansas town and in fact, the original 1900's train station is located on the property. We do certainly understand that it can take some getting used to for guests who aren’t accustomed to it! We usually only have 3-5 trains max overnight so 19 is very unusual. It sounds like you had a wonderful visit with Bud at Mill Creek Antiques—he is a long-time friend and definitely one of the people who makes Paxico such a special place. Thank you again for staying with us and for sharing both the things you enjoyed and the areas where we can improve. We want to make it a great place for all to enjoy. We hope you left with some wonderful memories of Paxico and the Kansas Flint Hills! Dawn
