This location was perfect for a vacation that was a healthy blend of adventure and peaceful relaxation. The lake was fun to traverse on the pontoon and there are several waterfalls and hiking trails that can be accessed for the adventurous ones in the family. Every comfort is provided and the owners have created luxurious accommodations that have everything that you would need to make your vacation complete. We would most definitely stay here again.
This place is SO beautiful. It has truly breathtaking lake views from every part of the deck. We loved paddleboarding, kayaking, boating, and hiking to the waterfall. Ted was wonderful to work with, and his home was exactly what we were looking for.
We had an amazing time at this wonderful lakeside property. We enjoyed our evenings on the incredible deck with a roaring fire, visits by many hummingbirds, and of course our time on the lake. Our pups had a great time too, swimming and fetching ball from the beach area was their favorite activity!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bear Lake. Ted is a wonderful, responsive host who has thought of everything in his well-cared for luxury lakefront home. Our family enjoyed the paddle boards, kayaks, tubing on the boat, swimming from the dock and beach, and lazy afternoons on the enormous, flower-filled deck. We didn’t use our car the entire time — we spent all day on the lake and cooked all our meals in the well-appointed kitchen. The solar powered system and cistern water were easy to use and had us happy and comfortable each day. Our family had a blast — such a great property and experience.
We had an amazing stay at this beautiful house surrounded by Bear Creek Lake. The outdoor porch offered breathtaking views, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind. Ted, our host, was very responsive and accommodating. We loved the boat, which allowed us to explore nearby waterfalls, and our kids had a blast tubing and diving off rocks into the lake. The nearby trails provided stunning views of waterfalls and mountainsides.
It may well be the most beautiful house and grounds on the lake. I loved that it is 100% solar-powered, and yet all of the appliances are top-of-the-line.
Thanks for giving us such a lovely place to explore the beautiful area around us!
This house has the most amazing views of the lake! We all enjoyed sitting on the expansive porch surrounded by flowers and hummingbirds. Very peaceful. My grandkids enjoyed tubing every day behind the boat, jumping off rocks, and we found a rope swing further down the lake for them to swing out into the water. They had a blast! We took 2 excursions off property to Sliding Rock and Rose Creek Mines. The boat ride from the house to the marina dock is just a short 2 minute ride where you park your car. Very easy! Ted was a great host and very helpful! Would love to come back next year as this place was awesome!!

Beautiful!
We rented this house as a last minute get away. The home and property are beautiful!
Ted met us at the dock with a warm and friendly welcome and even left us with a welcome basket of goodies for our stay. The house is surrounded by lake on 3 sides and the view is spectacular. In addition, we loved the privacy. The property and lake including several water falls, are a photographer’s paradise. We even have a few close up shots of a pair of eagles and their offspring. The lake water is crystal clear and we spent almost everyday fishing.
The house has two bedrooms each with a view of the lake. Perfect for sharing with another couple.
The only thing missing was a coffee table book with pictures of the construction of the home. We just keeping thinking how did he build such a remarkable home with no road access?
We are making this a part of our annual trip to the mountains. Maybe even again this year!

A unique experience....
First of all.... this location and beautiful house isn’t for everyone. Understand this before you decide...
1. Everything you need for your stay has to be carried from your vehicle to a pontoon boat, then a 10 minute ride to the island, carried again to a AWD vehicle for transport up the hill to the house. Then repeat when you need something and again when you leave.
2. Limited hot water for showers.
3. No central heat in house.
4. No curtains or shades on bedroom/bathroom windows.
5. No cell phone service.
That’s pretty much it... the house is well equipped, modern, tremendous views, and super quiet.
This property is exactly as described. Being off grid had absolutely no drawbacks even though we had rain for 3 days.. there was never a lack of power.
The design of the home is very appealing to anyone. Modern yet cozy.
Plan on total relaxation and fresh air. Bird watching, boating and just sitting out on one of the perfect outdoor spaces (there are several) and/ or building a beautiful fire to pass the time.
The pontoon boat and the ranger ATV were favorites of my husband..
Bed very comfortable and master shower great. Kitchen has everything you need.. hope to come back.
We had the most peaceful and quiet Vacation at this Beautiful Spot! The Birds,The Lake, The playlist of music that the host had available for listening was the highlight of our trip! Everything you needed in the Kitchen was there. We will definitely be back.
A perfect house on a perfect lake with a perfect host!
Our group of five had a phenomenal week at Little Bear Lodge. The lake provided so much fun in the form kayaking, boating, and tubing during the day, as well as quiet and serene evenings for rest and relaxation. We couldn't imagine a better vacation or more thoughtful host. We cannot wait to return. Thank you, Ted!
Bear Lake is an incredibly scenic location, and Ted has one of the best spots on the lake. Every room has a beautiful view. We found it to be the perfect place to truly escape from it all. We also brought our yellow lab along with us, and I'm fairly certain it was the best weekend of her life. We all enjoyed swimming, boating, sitting on the docks, and a wonderful hike to the gorgeous waterfall that's just a short hike away. Can't wait to visit again!
Serenity is the best way to describe the place. We had a wonderful week! We enjoyed boating everyday, swimming at the dock, hiking to the waterfall, and fires every evening. It’s a magical destination that brings you back to nature.
We loved our week of lake “island” escape! Captain Ted is a wonderful host and it was such a treat to unplug and enjoy the beauty of the lake - even our teen enjoyed it!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Capt. Ted's beautiful oasis! Our highlight was the incredible juvenile eagle that landed just feet from the porch.
We had a wonderful stay at the Little Bear Lodge! The cabin was absolutely perfect with amazing lake views! Ted was a wonderful host and was so sweet and kind and he also gave us a welcome gift basket full of goodies that was such a nice treat to enjoy while at the cabin. We are looking forward to staying at the Little Bear Lodge again soon!
This property is perfect for unwinding and enjoying beautiful views anywhere you look. Captain Ted is super! Will definitely come back to this gem on Bear Lake.
This was probably one of the most amazing family adventures that we've ever had. We will cherish the memories that we created as a family in this house and on this lake for years to come. Thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven with us.
