Luxury waterfront home in Salt Marsh Landing - an upscale residential community on the northern tip of Chincoteague Island. Spectacular sunsets! A long, private pier over the salt marsh leads you to a bay front dock area with shade. It's perfect for crabbing, fishing or canoe and kayak launching. Tastefully appointed and architecturally pleasing, Castlebar features a main level great room flanked by wall of beautiful custom windows and high cathedral ceilings. The views of Chincoteague Bay are priceless. The open kitchen area features ample counter space for meal prep, and the large harvest dining table is perfect for gathering the whole group for a meal. There are hardwood floors, and a two-sided fireplace that is shared with the adjoining cozy den. The first floor also features a full bath and large bedroom that looks out on the bay. The second floor hosts the primary bedroom suite, containing a private bath with separate shower and whirpool tub. A sliding french door leads out to a balcony providing more views of the bay to enjoy. Two additional bedrooms and full bath complete this floor. Amenities also include a private, full sized outdoor shower, wireless internet service, additional under-counter ice maker & more. Castlebar is available year round!

Great place!

Perfect house for a week! We stayed with our two young children and the grandparents and everyone had a great time. The dock and deck are awesome and the house has everything you could want. We hope to come back again!

Friends weekend away

This property was the perfect size for 3 couples, each had their own bathroom and privacy. The carpet was the only aspect that could be cleaned, but it is being replaced in January per other reviews so that is great! The dock has a great sitting area and the screened in porch is where we spent most of our time hanging out. We want to visit again!

Cold and windy

Despite some brutal weather, we had a great time in Chincoteague. This is predominantly because this property was so great. Pictures don’t do the back yard justice. We loved watching the water birds hunting every morning and enjoyed spectacular sunsets each night. The property is in great shape and has been recently and nicely renovated. Great neighborhood. I would mention that there isn’t hand soap provided in the bathrooms so that guests can be prepared to bring their own. Cheers!

The carpet on the stairs and in the bedrooms definitely need to be replaced. Or at least shampooed. We didn’t want to walk barefoot. That dirty!

It was so peaceful and quiet, but only a short 3 minute drive to town. You get a gorgeous March view in front and beach front perfect for swimming. You can se beautiful sunsets over the water as well. Truly think this is the best rental on the island. It was very clean, had everything and more we needed for cooking, and was spacious yet cozy. BOOK THIS HOUSE AND LOOK NO FURTHER- you will not regret it.

No gas grill!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved the house and the long dock- great time with the kids and family. One draw back was that there was no gas grill (which doesn’t say in the listing). The charcoal grill is also small (fits six hamburgers at a time) and that was hard for our family since we grill most of our food to keep kitchen cleanup easy while on vacation. House otherwise was great, seems like it had newer flooring, so no smelly rug like the other reviews mentioned.

perfect friends get-away house

3 friends. week in Chincoteague. 2nd week of September, quiet, absolutely loved the screened in porch (spent a lot of time sitting and reading - still lots of mosquitos), best stocked pantry ever, didn't cook, but found lots of very nice restaurants, property manager excellent (we had a problem dealing with the TV remote and got amazingly quick help with that), highly recommend this house and manager.

3 Generations of our family came.We had a great time. plenty of space for all of us. Large dining room table was big enough for all of us to eat at and play board games and cards. Great dock for boating, fishing, crabbing and raking for clams(although we didn’t catch much) had a great time and would highly recommend it👏👏👍😎❤️

Mosquito infested property

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property is on the swamp. Has a deck/pier to water. The property is good. But the mosquitoes totally killed the experience. The property is exposed to mosquitoes. Probably the earlier renters opened the doors. The home was infested with mosquitoes and would never rent this place again. We had kids and infants in our group. We left one day earlier. I reached out to management about mosquitoes and no one responded. We couldn’t stay any longer and left.

We love the fully furnished kitchen that even has a large capacity ice maker that we put to use. We love the updates that the owners have done with the new flooring throughout and the addition of a 5th bedroom and the large t.v in the sitting room (great for family movie nights). This home always provides the best views of the sunsets. The dock is long but the long, but the bay is perfect for swimming, crabbing and clamming. The laundry room has a great sink/counter set up to clean the fish you catch. The house has a great screened in porch to enjoy the cool bay breeze or keep you away from those pesky mosquitos. This house never disappoints!

August 2021 Stay

Our family had a great time. The pier and dock was simply fantastic…great breeze in the evenings and nice to launch our kayaks from. We enjoyed sitting out there quite a lot. Wonderful view of the sunsets, we had a Snowy Egret and Osprey that hung out a lot - great for nature lovers like us. Tons of space, great water pressure, comfy furniture. My father-in-law spent hours reading in the screened in porch, which was very nice. The only real cons were the mosquitoes and TV service. Bug spray helped, but we were all still bitten a lot every time we were outside. The live TV was awful, bad channel selection overall and it locked up and lost connection a lot (had to reboot model three times). Thankfully Prime was available and worked most of the time. Wish there were larger TVs in the bedrooms, and most didn’t even have TVs. Also brought DVDs to watch and our own player, but had no way to hook it up, so that stunk. We would come back again for sure. It was pretty quiet in this neighborhood and very private.

June 2021 Stay

We loved the location! The greatest amenity is the elevated walkway (our mini boardwalk) and the dock!!! The dock was so comfortable for fishing, reading and sun-worshipping!! Home is well-equipped. We will be back! View from the master bedroom after sunset is the above picture!
