Welcome to Casa Relato, a 1929 Craftsman curated exactly as a design-led home should be—custom interiors, layered textures, and fabrics chosen because they belong. Every piece of furniture is solid and intentional—no IKEA, ever.

We leave a substantial welcome basket filled with things we genuinely enjoy—some local, some just our favorites. Sip your coffee on the front porch of a neighborhood that feels tucked away yet close to everything. Casa Relato balances authenticity, comfort, and the kind of detail that makes a house unforgettable.

The living room has good light and walls lined with books and art and comfortable furniture with a place for everyone to sit.

Good coffee is important—we promise to only provide high quality coffee flavored coffee beans. We have a Mr. Coffee coffee pot because who knows better about a good cup of coffee than Mr. Coffee? A bean grinder, French press, and Bialetti with matching milk frother are here for whatever ritual you prefer. (What's a Keurig?)?

When the day winds down, open one of the bottles we’ve left for you—one red, one white—both wines we actually enjoy. Or take a beer from the fridge...Step outside where the air softens and time slows, the perfect close to a San Antonio day.

The kitchen keeps its 1929 soul but works like a modern space—gas range, full-size fridge, sharp knives, and real glassware. We love wine and food, so the shelves hold more than basics. If you want to cook, there are no Teflon pans - just stainless steel and cast iron cookware, and the right glass for every drink. Wine? Martini? Rocks? We’ve got you covered. No plastic here—you won’t be drinking a margarita out of Tupperware.

Ask us—we can tell you about San Antonio’s best local spots, from hidden neighborhood gems to our favorite Michelin-recognized restaurants and everything in between.

We can also give you tips on fun things to do and places to go around town.

Arriving late and need supplies? Let us know what you'd like, and we’ll do our best to have kitchen stocked before you arrive. Arriving even later? We can arrange catered meals from our favorite local restaurants, so you can start your stay with good food and zero effort.

Both bedrooms were designed for real rest—white noise machines - soft light, land 100 % organic-cotton bedding that feels like a boutique hotel. Every piece of furniture is solid and intentional, with just enough art (no prints from Ross or Marshalls here...) to make it interesting.

The bathrooms are spa-quality, outfitted with thick towels, full-size mirrors, and everything we think you might’ve forgotten. We provide plant-based soaps. We stocked the details so you don’t have to run to the store.

Out back, you’ll find a private yard with a furnished patio and a Weber grill—the kind of space made for slow evenings and good company. You’re on vacation, so have a beer or a cocktail and take your time. Fire up the grill, put your feet up, and let Casa Relato remind you what easy living feels like.

Casa Relato balances the elegance of history with the ease of modern life: fast Wi-Fi, central air, washer/dryer, Smart TV, and thoughtful extras. Whether you’re here for a weekend escape, business at Fort Sam, a golf outing, or a culinary adventure at The Pearl, or exploring walkable downtown San Antonio, this home is designed to restore and inspire.

We had a great stay! We were in San Antonio for a conference and to see friends. The location was perfect for both! We had dinner downtown one night and the other at The Pearl, and were only a short Uber drive from both. The house has comfortable and tasteful furnishings, with an excellent coffee station. Julie is a five star host - she had everything we needed and more including additional toiletries. We will definitely book here again and recommend to friends.

We didn't realize how remarkable this little craftsman house was until we walked through the door. Known as “The Story House – Casa Relato,” Julie and Ryan have restored and updated this gem beautifully—it's cozy and full of charm. Every furnishing seemed carefully chosen, providing anything a guest might need. Julie and Ryan are outstanding hosts: friendly, communicative, and extremely thoughtful. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was ready for us before our arrival, even stocking snacks and other essentials. We brought our two small dogs, who absolutely loved the backyard, especially entertaining themselves with the neighborhood squirrels. Both the front and back outdoor sitting areas were very comfortable, and the landscaping was impressive. Julie’s coffee bar was a delightful touch, evoking fond memories of how making coffee is truly an art form. We were also grateful for the secure parking and the convenient location, which made it easy to reach all the places we wanted to visit in San Antonio.
