Hokie Hy is located on the beach side of the Atlantic Ocean Elbow Cay, Hope Town, Abaco, The Bahamas. Ideal for families, group of friends & couples who like to have fun,
walk the beaches, ride a bike, swim, surf or just relax and enjoy island living. Within walking distance to Paradise beach for
surfing when in season, water craft rentals, & food establishments. Featuring 6 bedrooms with comfy king, queen and bunk beds, 5 bathrooms and powder room, all tastefully decorated in island colors. Gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances. Living room/dining/inside/outside around the pool deck overlooking the ocean. The second floor features a sitting area with tv and 2 bedrooms bath/tub with 2 sets of bunk beds in each room. Outside on the pool deck with where you can catch the fresh ocean breeze. The deck steps take you down to the beach where you can swim or walk the beach and look for shells or ocean treasures that the tide brings in each day. Back up generator and central air conditioning. Large flat screen tvs. Property manager/caretaker will help you organize your holiday. Taxi from the airport to the ferry dock or rental boat company, golf carts, maid service, fishing/dive charters etc. all to be organized ahead of time so you can relax and enjoy your vacation. Less than 10 mins to town by cart . Recommend when making reservation to book golf carts as there is a limited number of carts on the island..

Perfect for our extended family

We just returned from our 8 nights at Hokie Hy and it was perfect. Communication before our trip was helpful, the house was as described, the caretaker was helpful and responsive! It’s absolutely beautiful and we will be back!

October Visit

The house was clean, well stocked and as it appears in the pics. Communications with the host and the local property manager was easy. Nice interior layout for large groups and a pool steps from the beach - what a treat! Mid-island location made it convenient to everything. Very pleasant stay.

Best spring break!

We fell in love with HopeTown and the locals back in 1995! We love this island ! The house was wonderful and exactly as advertised! The view is incredible! We will definitely book this home again!!!

Wonderful house and location! Maxinson was great getting us checked in, making sure we had everything we needed and moving our luggage in. He also delivered fresh fish and crabs upon request. Thanks for an awesome vacation on a very special island!

Perfect House on Elbow!

We had the best time at Hokie Hy! The layout is perfect as all four masters have ocean front doors that lead to the pool deck with bathrooms in each room. Upstairs the two bunk rooms are perfect for kids. The kitchen and living concept was wide open with the most incredible views. House was well stocked and in the perfect location! Easy golf cart ride to tahiti beach or hope town. We will definitely be back!

Family Gathering

This house was perfect for our semi-annual family gathering at Hope Town. The location was near all our favorite places, such as Tahiti Beach, On Da Beach, Abaco Inn, Firefly and Mackey’s. The town with its restaurants and shopping was also close. The arrangement of bed rooms was ideal with all the first floor bedrooms having a private bath. The pool offered a much used gathering place. The view from the steps was breathtaking. We walked the beach every day

Amazing place to stay

We had 2 families stay here and the house was perfect! We could walk to Mackie’s and the new restaurant (The Cantina at The Island Retreat) a short golf cart ride to the Abaco Inn and Firefly. We kept our boats at Sunset, which was also perfect. The caretaker was responsive and helpful when we needed extra soap and paper towels. We can’t recommend Hokie Hy enough. Lots of beds, great location and excellent layout.

Hokie Hy lived up to all expectations. It was set up beautifully for a family vacation with adult bedrooms downstairs and cute, kid-friendly bunk bed rooms upstairs. The kitchen was well-stocked with basics and the private pool provided the perfect end of day cooling off spot. The view of the ocean from the pool deck was breathtaking. Mornings and evenings were spent in the Adirondack chairs with coffee or cocktail in hand taking in the view and thinking great thoughts. We loved the convenience of the location as well—close to Mackeys, our rented boat dock space, the Abaco Inn and town. The owners were super responsive when I sent questions. We loved Hokie Hy and hope to return!!

The best house ever!

This house had everything we were looking for! Beautiful house, beach, pool, generator and great location! Lots of room for our family of 12 to spread out. Golf cart highly recommended for getting around and exploring the island. You can’t go wrong with Hokie Hy!! We plan to return!

Great Family Spot!

Hokie Hy was a perfect place for our extended family of 13. House and location were beautiful. Amenities were all excellent. Susan’s boat rental and dockage recommendations were very helpful. The caretaker did good job transporting our group to/from the ferry. He was also very responsive to several power outage issues. We had a great Elbow Cay family vacation!

Absolutely perfect!

This house was just absolutely wonderful. Clean, comfortable, and with everything you could need for a wonderful stay in Hope Town. We stayed here with friends and family to celebrate our wedding. Great time in Hope Town

this was a great house with a great location that was central to everything in Hope Town. you do need a golf cart to get around. we were comfortable with 14 people in the house. the bunk rooms do need some shades to keep out the morning sun and heat. great layout for a house and it is directly on the ocean. would go back anytime.

Just spent a week at Hokie Hy, the best family vacation ever! The house is so well designed and the finishes are first class. We had 4 families and never felt jammed in, the house is in a perfect location, short cart ride to downtown or Sea spray marina best of the island. Fire Fly was an awesome spot for dinner, and the Lodge was great for family karaoke mon night! I think the kids enjoyed it as much as we did rocking YMCA. This is the ultimate family spot the views and the water are magical. Already looking to book again thx for the memories- Hokie Hy.

Family Vacation 2023

Hokie Hy was the perfect Beach House for our Family of 13! 8 adults & 5 kids had plenty of room to spread out & enjoy ALL the things! Perfect location for Beach Days, Fishing & Island Hopping with Local Boy, Tahiti Beach Day, several restaurants & “hole-in-the-walls” for local specialties & a walk & shop through beautiful, historical Hope Town! The Splash Pool was a perfect way to end each day…It was good to be back to see the rebuilding progress after Dorian! Maxinson was the most patient & best caretaker! Beautiful home in the perfect location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hokie Hy. This house has a great location, right on the beach. It has everything you could possibly need. The beds were comfortable which is nice for a rental property! The floorplan was great for our group. Everyone had their own bathroom. There are plenty of beach towels available for use. The ocean view from the kitchen is breathtaking! We enjoyed sitting out back in the evenings. The kids loved having a pool to cool off in. The house is a short ride into town and local restaurants. The property manager was extremely helpful and responsive. Such a great trip!

Perfect Beach Home!

We stayed at Hokie Hy for 8 fantastic days! The layout is the perfect design for a beach house with room for 3 or 4 families and yet still provides privacy with 2 kings, 2 queens and 2 bunk rooms that sleeps 8. It's located very close to the grocery and liquor stores and a local takeout place (Mackie's) with some of the best food on the island (especially the cinnamon rolls). We also had Miss Brenda from Mackie's cater two dinners for us that were amazing! One was blackened grouper and the other lobster (Wow!) The ocean view provided unbelievable sunrises and full moons. It is just a short golf cart ride to Hope Town to the north and Sea Spray Marina and Abaco Inn to the south. We could not have enjoyed it more. Clearly the best place to stay on the island.

This was a lovely spot. The only thing I would say was a major disappointment was the lack of any beach chairs. We have rented island homes for over a decade, and have never had a home that didn’t come equipped with a number of beach chairs. When we asked the property manager, he simply replied “no” and didn’t even provide us with options of where to rent or buy. This was a major disappointment and not what is expected when you spend 9k on a house for a week

Best Christmas Trip Ever!

The house was great with plenty of room and fully stocked. The location is super cool. There are large rocks on the beach. But you can walk to the right and there is a beautiful small beach with no rocks where you can swim and relax. Bring shoes for the rocks. The dining table was small so we asked for a folding table to eat dinner together each night. It worked out well. The owner was super responsive to my numerous questions and was very prompt to respond. She was great in helping us prepare for the trip. The property manager Maxinson totally rocks!! Please take care of him. He too is super cool. If your going to Hopetown remember your on an island. Everything is imported and expensive. Go to the grocery in Marsh Island get what you need ... and when you get to Hopetown keep it simple. And bring cash .... you will need it.

Elbow Cay quickly became my husband's favorite vacation spot. We decided to build a home our whole family could enjoy and rent for others to enjoy. We live in Ocala, Florida and try to come to Elbow Cay whenever the house is not being rented. Randy and I both graduated from Virginia Tech - thus the house name Hokie Hy.

What makes this property unique

The location says it all! Spectacular ocean view with ocean breeze and deck with pool over looking the beach. Close to many beaches and restaurants , food store and downtown.
