About this property

Historic 1890s Cottage: Walk to historic square, beach, & hiking trail!

Heavenhill, built in the 1890s, is not your typical home away from home! Quirky and quiet yet so close to the square it is a perfect set up for a family, girls' weekend, or even for writers and journalists. You may find yourself spending most of the time on the fan favorite back porch with four comfortable rocking chairs. Shelbie, an interior designer and historic preservationist, wanted to keep the historic integrity of the home yet make it comfortable for modern times.

The cottage boasts two bedrooms (Gallery Room: full Bed and Quilt Room: two twin beds) with two full bathrooms including a fully equipped kitchen, living room, and pantry/utility room with a washer and dryer. An old, enormous pecan tree shades the comfortable back porch stocked with quality rocking chairs and a patio with a picnic table. If you like to cook out…well there is also a grill for anyone to use!

The base prices is for double occupancy. Additional guests’ fee is $25/guest/night plus hotel tax. Please make sure to specify the correct number of guests for your visit. Children of all ages are considered an additional guest.

Heavenhill is in walking distance to Hewlett Park and the City Beach (seriously just MINUTES!). If you like antiquing, then you are in luck! Shelbie just opened a furniture/home decor consignment shop—Witherspoon’s House—right behind Heavenhill! Witherspoon’s House & the amazing Witherspoon’s Antique Mall share backyards with Hh! Located just 3 blocks from the square, you can do almost everything by foot or bike! If you like to take long walks or ride your bike then you can hop on “The Moments in Time” hike and bike trail which is right in front of Hh!

I have exterior security cameras placed around the premises. I do not have any cameras inside the cottage.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

About the host

Hosted by Shelbie Miller

Host profile image
Shelbie is an interior designer by day and innkeeper by night?! She freelance designs for new and old construction but specializes in historic renovation/restoration. Her husband, Sam, their son Walt, and their cat live on his family farm in a 1907 farmhouse that they have been restoring for many years.

Why they chose this property

This home is very near and dear to Shelbie's heart. Her mother purchased the home in 2002 when Shelbie was just about to graduate from high school. After school Shelbie and her mother would go over to the property to peel back the layers of remodeling. One fun day we discovered a signature on the bead board ceiling that said: Josephine Heavenhill + Little Louise Miller Cross of the Heart Jan. 1, 1893. That was the day the little home was named: Heavenhill! For ten years the little home sat vacant and lonely while Shelbie went to college and started her own career and her mother ventured out west. Shelbie never forgot Hh since it was her first love (of old houses). Out of the blue, Shelbie's mother gave her a present in 2012: Heavenhill. She immediately put her whole life savings into this home to restore and share with the community.
