We enjoy hosting for the same reasons we love Volga—this is a community built on good people, hometown values, and taking care of one another. Providing a place to stay feels like a natural extension of that. There aren’t many lodging options in the area, so we’re happy to offer a comfortable spot for visitors, families gathering for holidays, reunions, or special events, and anyone who wants to experience the charm of our town. Hosting gives us a way to bring people together and to share a little bit of what makes Volga such a great place to be.
Why they chose this property
We chose Volga because we truly love the people and this community. It has that genuine small-town feel—neighbors who look out for each other, friendly faces everywhere, and a pace of life that feels grounded and real. And with Brookings just minutes away, you still have access to everything you could possibly need: restaurants, shopping, sporting events, and SDSU energy. Volga gives you the best of both worlds—quiet, comfortable, rock-solid people and the convenience of a bigger town right next door.
What makes this property unique
Our building has over 120 years of Volga history within its walls. It was built in 1902 as the First National Bank of Volga, back when this town was just getting started. Over the decades it has worn many hats—a police station, a photo studio, a pet store, and more. After sitting empty for years, we brought new life to it by completely renovating the space and opening The Blue Goose, Volga’s hometown bar, downstairs.
The upstairs BNB space has its own story too. It once served as offices and meeting rooms, later becoming an apartment, and now it’s fully restored into a comfortable, modern getaway. You’ll be staying in a place where the old brick bones of a 1902 bank meet fresh updates, hometown charm, and a fun atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else.
