Fun and Unforgettable Beach House Dog friendly with a Great Location
Summary:
The Sand Castle
The Space:
This Gleneden Beach vacation rental offers all the comforts of home for up to eight guests, with a few extra amenities to make your stay especially memorable! Gather around the unique wood-burning fireplace in the center of the living room, take a leisurely soak in the master bedroom's whirlpool tub, or stroll to the quiet beach. This cottage has an artsy vibe with pale wood walls and pops of blue and yellow, yet it's still cozy and homey without being pretentious. You'll love the hardwood laminate floors of the living area, crowned by a wood-burning fireplace, and with high ceilings and expansive windows overlooking the scenery. Guests can relax on the two comfy sofas while they watch the latest DVDs on the large TV, and kids of all ages can play a board game at the built-in table just off the living room. An additional gas fireplace offers even more heat on a cold coastal night.
The open floor plan allows easy access from the living room to the dining area. Six guests can enjoy their repast at the wooden dining table, and an additional three seats are on hand at the kitchen counter. Wooden cupboards hide plenty of dishes and pots and pans with which to cook, and the fridge is large enough to hold a plethora of snacks for the kids. No time for dishes? No worries, as the home includes a convenient dishwasher. The turquoise theme is continued on the upper level, which boasts two expansive bedrooms and one and a half baths. A queen bed, complete with floral coverlet, occupies the master suite, which also features pale wood walls, a large terrace, and a half bath. But it's the in-room jetted tub that catches the eye and offers the wow factor! The second bedroom boasts two double beds and a bathroom with a shower. A pull-out sofa offers room for two more guests, bringing the total accommodations to eight. Dogs are welcome here, too, though a nightly fee per dog and minimum fee per stay will apply. A washer and dryer will get that sand and grime off in no time, and the backyard offers plenty of space to play or dine at the colorful picnic tables.
What's nearby:
Situated on the Northern Oregon Coast just west of the Oregon Coast Highway, this colorful two-story, two-bedroom home offers a pleasing respite for anyone looking to get away from it all. A two-block tree-lined path takes you to a secluded stretch of Gleneden beach with its sandstone bluffs, sea lions, and adventurous surfers. Just keep the car at home, as parking is limited. The Northern Oregon Coast boasts many year-round attractions. Just five miles from Gleneden Beach is popular Lincoln City, home to two annual kite festivals in the summer and fall. If you'd rather stay close to home, Gleneden Beach State Recreation Site is a stone's throw away, offering sea lions galore on nearby Salesian Spit. Head to Salishan Resort & Spa for some tee time on the 18-hole golf course or a hot stone massage at the award-winning spa. Check out local art at the Lawrence Gallery in town. We got a good deal-booked weekdays at the last minute. Fabulous location! Overall it was clean and stocked with things we needed. Burners on stove didn’t always work. Gas heater doesn’t really work consistently but after some trial and error we could get it on-lots of space heaters so we were plenty warm. Living room is very crowded with furniture and the TV is mounted at an unusable height. Bar stools have loose hardware and are the wrong height for bar so also unusable. The tub in the bedroom might seem a bit strange but I enjoyed it. Could use a mat inside the entry to help keep the place clean. I would stay there again if I could get the same price.
The house smelled of pet urine as soon as we walked in. Area rugs everywhere that stunk of urine, that should be thrown away. The furniture is old and broken down and very uncomfortable. The heat doesn't work so have to use space heaters which is unsafe, except in secondary bedroom where it did work. Tech came and changed out the thermostat, it seemed to help at first, but problem reoccurred. Beds in the second bedroom are not comfortable, old and sunken, like Uncle Festers bed according to my son. Kitchen was stocked ok, but only one electrical outlet worked and dishwasher detergent drawer won't stay closed. Bathroom shower leaks somewhere so water comes up between the floor boards after using it. House is in need of major repairs which is unfortunate because it is a good location close to the beach and the neighborhood is quiet. Storm door is missing the glass and is just left there. Large gaps around the front door which with the old windows and intermittent heat source makes it difficult to keep warm. Broken Adirondack chairs outside and very rusted propane tanks for the grill. Nice wood burning fireplace inside but the grate inside of it that you place the wood on is completely rusted through. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Th owner obviously just wants to make money on the property, but not put anything back into it. It definitely is an "unforgettable" beach house, but not in a good way. Do not waste your money.

I rented this property for the amazing bathtub and was not disappointed! Place was cozy, dog friendly, and just 2 blocks to the beach. Kitchen had everything I needed for cooking. Lots of thoughtful touches. I will definitely come again!
All in all a decent place for a lazy weekend at the beach. Having the beach outlet so close was wonderful so we didn’t have to drive. Would definitely stay again.

Sweet little A-frame
We had such a nice weekend here! The beach was beautiful and nearly deserted. The fireplace was super cozy and the kitchen had everything we needed for a weekend getaway from the city. We’d love to come back and stay again!

The property is very private, I loved everything about the place!
The home is very cozy, very private, and it's a little walk to the beach but still beautiful. I loved everything about this house and will definitely be going back sometime soon in the future. The house was absolutely perfect and our stay was very comfortable. 10/10 recommend!
This place was very cute, and perfect for our little family vacation! The only slightly downside to the house was the strong odor of dog inside (which makes sense as it is a dog friendly rental) Other than that small detail, we enjoyed our stay very much!

Hi Emily, thanks for visiting. We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit. We apologize if the cleanliness of the home left something to be desired, and we will follow up with our housekeeping team to see that future cleans are completed to our standards. We'd love to host you again soon.
Loved the uniqueness and retro aspects of this property. In theory, this was a great place to stay and looked clean on the surface. However, the charm was a bit eroded by lack of reliable heating options, pet smells, and deep cleanliness. Easy check in, and a couple of restaurants were in walking distance.

Its a cute place. You could always here the ocean from this place.
It needs alittle tlc. Window screens, a back light but otherwise a cute place.
The space is cool. Very retro.
Bring your own salt and indulge in the random spices left my other renters. This place is a gem and so so so pet friendly. Even equipped with a litter box!
Will DEFINITELY stay here again :)
We have a large family. This house accommodated us perfect. It's super close to the beach, kitchen is nice size, outside seating front and back, the bbq was a nice touch. The only qualms were no light outback and cob webs were pretty bad all around.

Thank you for leaving feedback, Brandon! We are pleased that this lovely Gleneden beach home provided an excellent gathering place for your family to enjoy. We apologize for the issues regarding backyard lighting and cob webs present, and we'll follow-up with our local team to see that these items are addressed. We hope to have another chance to impress you in the future!
We loved The Sand Castle Vacation Home at Gleneden Beach! It was very clean and cozy, but there was room for 8 of us, 6 adults and 2 children. Everything we needed was supplied for us, and we felt very much at home and comfortable! We loved the unique shape of the home, and that it was pretty secluded in the trees. One of the best benes was, we could hear the Ocean from the house, and could walk down to the Beach without much trouble, as the Beach was only 2 blocks away, and it wasn't crowded at all!

So cozy!
This is our second time here and we always have a great time. We love the fireplace, privacy and amenities. The jetted tub is awesome and is so nice to be able to do laundry here. Thanks for letting us bring our English Bulldog, Leo. He loved the orange football! The only thing we couldn't find was kitchen trash bags, FYI.

Cozy Thanksgiving trip!
This was our first time staying here, and we had a wonderful time! The house is unique with the A-frame design and huge central fireplace. Well stocked with high quality toiletries, paper goods, laundry soap, etc. The location is a quiet pretty dead end street very close to beach. The only suggestion we would offer the owners is to install a motion light on the parking side of the house; wet gravel in the dark makes for a shaky walk to the entry door. All in all, we would definitely stay here again!
Home was nice and clean. Very close walk down to the water. With all the trees surrounding the home, it felt very secluded. (Which we loved!) Only reason I gave 4 stars is because it was VERY COLD when we arrived. NO heaters were on and it took hours to heat up.
