Newly Renovated Big Platte Lakehouse near Sleeping Bear Nat'l Park - Sleeps 10
The Platte Lakehouse provides a beautiful setting to relax, share good times with family and friends, and enjoy lake life. Originally renovated in 2019, a new lakefront master suite, additional common space, and additional beds will be ready for your stay by early spring of 2026. Inside, guests find a delightful mix of sleeping options, including a lakeview King suite (full bath), a lakeview suite (Queen/2 twins/full bath). The first floor bedroom offers a queen bed with an adjacent full bath (jet tub/shower) and an additional two twin trundle beds in the lakeside sunroom.
First floor common space provides an open floor plan with a gas fireplace, dining space, and two areas to play games, watch tv or gaze at the beauty of Platte Lake. The updated kitchen has a gas stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, and the necessary tools to prepare your meals.
Two lakeside decks allow for relaxing cups of coffee in the morning and family meals throughout your stay. The lakeside fire pit is the ideal space to make smores and enjoy the sunset (or maybe the Northern Lights!). Your rental includes a dock, 2 kayaks, and a paddle board to explore the lake.

We are both lifelong educators from Ohio who have rented vacation homes in Michigan for 30 years. We purchased our dream home on Platte Lake in 2024 and added a master suite and additional common space in 2026.
After spending decades sharing other owners properties, we wanted to share our place with others who love staying in Michigan but don't have a place of their own.

Why they chose this property
The Lakehouse is located close to the Platte Lake launch and access to the Platte River is just across the lake (a kayak ride). This lake is where our family spent vacation time in the 70's and 80's so it is home for us.
Riverside Canoes, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, The Cherry Hut and Cherry Bowl all are a very short drive from our place.
A spacious home, large yard and wooded area, hiking, paddling, swimming, exploring, and amazing scenery are what makes the Lakehouse a special place to stay.
