About this property
Come Experience our Regenerative Farm in our historic and renovated Manor House.
This stately, 3 bedroom and 3 baths, home rests on the lush 82 acre Whiffletree Farm. The farm and home provide a serene setting rich in history, agriculture, and natural beauty. Guests can enjoy the sense of being far from the busyness of city/suburban life, yet only 2 miles away from Old Town Warrenton, Virginia. Whiffletree Farm also allows guests the opportunity to delve into agro-tourism: gain exposure to sustainable farming, study resources (videos, books, articles) provided in home library, and purchase poultry, milk, eggs etc. from the farm store run by the farmers themselves, Jesse and Liz Straight.
History: For at least 80 years of the 20th century Whiffletree Farm was dedicated to horses and specifically, fox hunting. The Warrenton Hunt still rides the property and the hunting hounds (50-60) are kenneled next door. Celebrities like John and Jacquelin Kennedy and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor attended cocktail parties at Whiffletree as part of the social scene surrounding the 'Hunt.'
Agriculture: The farmers, Jesse and Liz Straight, raise pastured broiler chickens (and turkeys), free-foraging pork, grass-finished beef and pastured laying hens. Their farming method of using intensive rotation grazing creates a happy and healthy environment for the animals, improves the fertility of the land and provides more nutritious food for customers . Their cattle are 100% grass fed and their turkeys, broiler chickens, pigs, and laying hens are raised on fresh pasture, non-GMO feed, no antibiotics, no chemicals on the ground, and no toxic chemical washes when they are processed. All this work, precision and care, not only help keep animals, the earth and people healthier it also results in distinctively rich tasting food.
Natural beauty: There are lovely walks about the farm, near the stream or down by Great Run and bike rides along the lane. And just a stone’s throw away guests will find a variety of the many great things Virginia’s rolling hills and vibrant culture has to offer: the historic town of Warrenton (2 miles), the storied battlefields of Culpeper and Manansas (15 miles), Virginia’s great wine trails- vinards/wineries- (8 miles), the Blue Ridge Mountains and Skyline Drive (24 miles), the Town of Little Washington with it's famous Inn (17 miles), the Ashby Inn in Paris, Va.(20miles) and many more sites.
And lastly, in case hikes, bike rides and walks don’t satisfy your exercise needs, Warrenton has a large aquatic center with a competition pool, hot tub, water park with slides and workout facilities. Golf courses, a tennis club and a yoga studio are also just within a 10 minute drive. But don't overbook yourselves. The house, the farm and the grounds are special.
Please also note the house's large sunroom and outdoor yard space. We consider events for under 40 people on a case by case basis for an additional fee of $500.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

The house and it's facilities were lovely. We used the home to house guests in town for a wedding. They loved the accommodations and the beautiful farm location. There was plenty of space and bathrooms and the large kitchen was a huge bonus.
Kitchen was fully equipped; Laundry met needs; Very accommodating - space, bedrooms, bathrooms. Gorgeous historical home! Beautifil grounds. Very friendly community and great neighbors. Host is excellent communicator! Very relaxing stay!
We love this house. I want to live in this house. Very well stocked kitchen and large comfortable bedrooms. Three bathrooms was a huge plus as we were traveling for an out of town wedding nearby. Chase was super helpful and responsive. I wish the listing had been clearer about the need to bring you own towels for the hot tub but that was not that big a deal. Would absolutely stay here again.
Altho we had a little bit of a bee infestation on the main level (they were getting in somehow through the bay window), this was an absolutely lovely stay. I loved the house. We held a huge breakfast in the dining room for my kids, and everyone slept so well on the comfy beds. Granddaughter absolutely loved the animals in the farm, and it was so close to the wedding we were attending as well as downtown Warrenton! Each room was a delight. Excellent experience.
Absolutely Wonderful Stay on a Beautiful Historic FarmOur stay at this historic Virginia farm was nothing short of amazing. The property is peaceful, private, and full of charm—you can truly feel the history and care that goes into maintaining it. We loved waking up each morning to the gorgeous farm views and the quiet, relaxing atmosphere. The hosts went above and beyond by providing farm-fresh eggs, sausage, and delicious sourdough bread—such a thoughtful touch and truly some of the best we’ve ever had. The on-site farm store was an added bonus, packed with great local products and a cozy, welcoming feel. The working farm aspect made the experience even more special without ever compromising privacy. It felt like our own little slice of countryside while still being close enough to explore the area.Highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for comfort, charm, and an authentic farm experience. We can’t wait to come back!
Nice Country Farm House. Large Space. Very Historic. Smaller Kitchen, but we weren't cooking so that wasn't a problem. Check-in was easy. Keys readily available.
We love coming to stay here at Whiffletree Farm. Meeting the wonderful folks here is the best part and the setting is gorgeous. Looking forward to our next visit!
We had a great time at Whiffletree! The house is beautiful and staying on a working farm is so unique. The house is well-equipped with everything you need and the hosts left us farm-fresh goodies and some staples- so thoughtful. The location is beautiful and serene but a very short drive from Warrenton for restaurants and shopping. We loved our stay!
This house is so beautiful! We hosted a small birthday party here and it was absolutely perfect. They were so accommodating and even left us some delicious farm fresh goodies to enjoy!!
Whiffletree Manor House is A beautifully preserved, but still updated house. Our out-of-town guests couldn’t get over how nice it was, both the overnight guests and the ones who came to a baby shower we had there. Not only is the house lovely but so are the grounds, there’s even a swing hanging from one of the trees to make it look that much more picturesque. We would definitely rent this house again for when we have people visiting.
This was our fifth year visiting the farm with our kids. It’s a special place and we cherish the memories we make there. The house is just as pictured and always spotless. The hosts are terrific. We look forward to being back!
Loved the history of the house and property. Nice roomsEveryone on farm super friendly. Property Mgr got us quick support to issues as we reported them. Outside lights at entrance did not work. Yellow jackets in ground at firepit...could not use. Hot tub broken co could not use. Pots Pans dirty. Glasses n silverware clean. Loved the kitchen n dine tables. Musty. Window sills dirty and bugs.Snake in Kitchen came out of vent. they taped it over
Overall, nice stay. Great house, lots of potential. Realizing it’s an old house, but first floor entry, hall and living room were musty, not good for those with allergies.
The Property was Amazing! The Descriptions on Vrbo are accurate with surprises waiting on your arrival! Our group really enjoyed seeing the Farm and learned about some of the operations! The Farm Store is awesome. We purchased many delicious items to bring home!Looking forward to another visit at the Whiffle Tree Farm
This was our sixth trip to the farm with our kids. It continues to be a little slice of heaven for our family. We had the most peaceful and memorable Thanksgiving at the farm. Everything was just as we left it. We look forward to returning next year.
Charming atmosphere for family event, wonderful experience
We stayed at Wiffletree Manor for our son's wedding at Great Marsh Estates. It was a wonderful experience and a great family place. Our grandchildren loved the yard, the rope swing, and watching the turkeys. The house has cozy and homey vibe. The Farm Store was a nice plus. Chase was a great host and very responsive. We will definitely stay again.
This was our fourth year visiting the farm. It truly is a slice of heaven. Our kids had a blast exploring the property and visiting the chickens, pigs, and cows. Jesse and Liz were wonderful hosts (as always). The house was clean and spacious and has everything you could need. We dined out this year and loved Denim & Pearls (which serves Jesse’s chicken) and Red Truck Bakery,
Beautiful piece of property with a very interesting history. Love the zebra theme.
Jessie was very personable and always eager to make your stay pleasurable. He came very quickly when we needed something.
This is a children’s dream with many farm animals.
We stayed at The Manor House while attending wedding activities at nearby Wollam Gardens. The old homestead provided a relaxing escape from the excitement of the wedding event. The interior of the house is comfortably furnished and features a large well-appointed kitchen. The bedrooms are spacious. The grounds and the home's exterior could use some attention. The working regenerative farm setting, including the well-stocked farm store, adds to the unique experience of staying in this Fauquier County home.

Beautiful property, great hosts, wish we could have stayed longer.
A group of my girl-friends and I rented this property for our trip to the 2017 Women's March on Washington. It was close enough to DC that we could easily get into the city for our March, yet far enough that we escaped the chaos of all the people that were in DC for this historical event. The house was amazing! So charming! We wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the property. The hosts are so generous, leaving fresh eggs and sausage for our breakfast. Also, the host was a great communicator, answering all my pesky questions. This would be a great house for a peaceful, relaxing family getaway!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Location is charming and a very nice welcome basket of goodies from the farm store was waiting for us when we arrived. The lower than ideal rating is because the property manager was aware of a maintenance issue, but was very indifferent about following up on getting it addressed. He promised twice that he would get right on it, call someone to get it fixed and get right back to me; both times he did not. Finally on our last afternoon he sent me a text that it would not be addressed until after we left. He did refund us 150, but this did have a negative impact on our stay. For the property manager's consideration, the beds are not that comfortable, some type of a mattress topper would really help, and the bedding and pillows have seen better days. I hope this review helps because there is so much potential with the beautiful setting and the treats from the farm store were really appreciated. All of the staff on the farm was very friendly when we saw them on our walks.
We had a few issues, and immedialtey called the property manager to address. He was punctual in getting back with us and was very focused on addressing our complaint and resolving it
