In the centre of the Hanseatic city of Wismar, right on the last surviving section of the medieval city wall, there is a holiday apartment for up to 3 people on the ground floor of a lovingly renovated house built in 1901. The apartment features spacious rooms that have been furnished in a very comfortable and unique style. You’ll experience the atmosphere of this over 100-year-old house—with its tall wooden windows, hardwood floors, and antique wooden doors—combined with beautiful furniture and the comforts of modern living. Wismar’s Old Town has been recognised as an UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside Stralsund’s Old Town since 2002: you’ll be staying right in the middle of it all.
UNESCO World Heritage Site: Together with the historic centre of Stralsund, the historic centre of Wismar has been recognised as an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002. Experience medieval brick Gothic architecture: the city’s major churches—St. Nicolai, St. Marien (the tower has been preserved; here you can see the “Buildings of Power” exhibition featuring a 3D animation of medieval construction), and St. Georgen with its watchtower—host many cultural events. Your apartment is located right on the last remaining section of the city wall. It’s just a 5-minute walk from the apartment to our city’s business district, the market, and the old harbour with its restaurants, promenades, and the rows of old and new sailboats and excursion boats.
Eating and Drinking: The restaurants at Wismarter Markt and the bars in the old harbour offer plenty of options for your enjoyment. You’ll find refined dishes at both new and traditional restaurants in the market; in the summer, the west side of the market transforms into a large open-air restaurant. However, the people of Wismar love the maritime style and atmosphere of dining in the old harbour. You can enjoy fresh fish and Wismar beer along the pub mile in Wismar’s old harbour. You’ll find pubs in historic buildings, restaurants in the squares, and even an idyllic beer garden. There’s often live music at one of the bars, and the night goes on until the early hours of the morning. And don’t forget the freshly caught or smoked fish you can buy right off the fishing boat in the old harbour.
