Master Suite at Elkader JailHouse Inn
Turn yourself in to one of our most popular suites! The Master Suite is the only suite on the main floor and features a brand-new queen bed for two guests. After a long day of travel or sightseeing, unwind in the air-massage tub or refresh in the luxurious steam shower, let all your aches and stress melt away. With high ceilings, spacious rooms, and a huge master closet, you might even forget you’re “in the clink”! An air mattress is available for up to two additional guests.
Historic Jailhouse Experience
Enjoy your “sentence” at the historic Elkader Jailhouse Inn. Built 150 years ago to house Clayton County’s most dangerous criminals, this recently renovated 5,000+ sq. ft. limestone mansion sits on a 3-acre bluff overlooking the rolling hills of Elkader, Iowa.
Choose from one of four suites, each overflowing with character, luxurious beds, and spa-like bathrooms. Guests enjoy access to the gourmet kitchen, scenic patio, and the property’s most iconic feature: the original cell block. Authentic jail cells, historical artifacts, and memorabilia make this a stay you won’t soon forget. Don’t forget to take your mugshot!
Traveling with a group? Rent the entire Jailhouse for up to 20 guests—perfect for weddings, family gatherings, or weekend getaways. It should be a crime not to stay here!
