Umgebinde 1657 is a rustic half-timbered house on a sunny mountainside in the spa town of Bad Schandau—just a few metres from the Elbe River and offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding forests and cliffs. A magical spot in Saxon Switzerland for unforgettable moments with friends and family: hiking, exploring, cooking, reading, and spending time together. Our sustainably renovated historic landmark offers plenty of space, peace, and cosiness across approximately 195 square metres for up to 14 people. Chop vegetables in the large kitchen, sweat it out in your apartment’s sauna, lounge on the stove bench and gaze into the fire, watch the deer from the windowsill, finally sleep in again in our incredibly cosy beds, and dream of your next hiking trip. Eco-friendly, sustainably renovated, and operated without harmful substances and with minimal use of plastic—we want to leave this beautiful corner of the world in better shape than we found it. That’s why we heat the house using geothermal energy, among other methods, and offer our guests products from regional sources. You can make your way here in a relaxed manner by paddlewheel steamer, bicycle, train, car, bus, or even at a leisurely pace on foot with a backpack on your back. Getting to Krippen is easy—it’s only leaving this little paradise on the Elbe that will be hard for you. We’re centrally located, accessible even without a car, and yet off the beaten track. Just a stone’s throw from the National Park train station, the Elbe Cycle Path and the Malerweg hiking trail, the thermal baths, and the town’s shopping options. An ideal starting point for exploring the over 1,200 km of hiking trails and the countless activities the surrounding area has to offer.<br> Our cosy living room for rest and relaxation for two. A warm and inviting atmosphere in the open living and dining area—perfect for cooking and enjoying a meal in the kitchen, gazing into the fire of the cast-iron stove, or curling up with a good book in the reading nook. With sweeping views of cliffs and forests, you’ll dream of your next hikes in the large double bed under the roof. After long hikes, your tired feet can soak in the warm tub under the starry sky or relax in the sauna on the hillside. The living and dining area features a dining table, a wood-burning stove, a sofa (which can also be used as a bed for a third person—please enquire), an armchair, and a reading nook. Library with hiking guides and regional literature, flat-screen smart TV with Netflix and TVNow, stereo system with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, high-speed Wi-Fi, and LAN connections. The kitchen is equipped with: a refrigerator with freezer compartment, dishwasher, ceramic cooktop (induction), oven, toaster, coffee maker, and electric kettle. The bedroom features a double bed (180 cm) with a panoramic view, wardrobes, and a chest of drawers. Cosy, eco-friendly, and sustainable bedding from the Hefel workshop. Bathroom with shower and toilet. A hair dryer, towels, and sustainable soap from the region are provided. Hillside garden, patio with a grill, dining table with chairs, lounge chairs, fire pit, log sauna (for private use), and hot tub (please reserve). Bed linens, towels, and final cleaning are included. Please note that smoking is not permitted in the holiday rental and that, unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets.
