Once we figured out the AC, it was perfect. Parking out front is easier then out back but it was a great stay. Close to Dreamland BBQ and accommodated my family and in-laws perfectly. Made our baseball trip very comfortable and relaxing! Will definitely be back.

Our stay was great! Everything was nice and clean, it looked exactly like the pictures. The host was great with communication. The only issue we had was during check-in — the door code stopped working, and the lockbox was in a weird place. We were outside for about 45 minutes trying to get it open. Other than that, everything was amazing and we really enjoyed our stay.

My friends and I had a very unfortunate experience with porchlit properties. Our room we had initially booked a month in advance was unavailable to us upon checkin. We used to codes and followed all of the instructions we were given to get in but we were unable to get into the place we rented. The host was unsure of why we were unable to get in and nobody came to the room to help us try to get in. The host did offer us a different place to stay which we accepted as it was after 10 pm. When we arrived to the second place it was far less than impressive. There was dirty and ripped linen, the towels on the shelves to be used for the shower were wet, the hot water didnt work, the bedroom lights wouldnt come on, the AC didn’t function properly, the doors didnt properly open and shut, and the wifi didnt function at all. The only redeeming factor of our stay with porchlit properties was they did stay in communcation with us and they did give us a full refund for our booking. I am grateful to them for that and appreciate them doing the right and honorable thing in a less than positive experience.

Large Comfortable Space for Family

My family of 6 (2 adults and 4 kids) fit comfortably in this space. We visited one night for a show at the BJCC Legacy Arena, and found that this was a very convenient location to UAB and downtown Birmingham. It was also close to some good restaurants in the area (like Dreamland BBQ). There is also a nice view out the window that is pictured. The beds were very comfortable, and the living room space is also comfortable and just as pictured. We enjoyed relaxing in the living room watching tv in the morning before we departed. The space would work well for longer stays as the kitchen has everything that you need as far as refrigerator, stove, cooktop, etc. The immediate area that this apartment is located in appears to be predominately used by college students. There are a lot of older homes in the area, many in good shape and some that are a bit run down. Parking in front of the apartment is on the street in front or is a coul-de-sac in the back. Neither is within a gated community and parking is a bit tight on the street, but plentiful in the coul-de-sac. As long as you are being smart by not leaving things in the car, then there should not be any issues. Despite these minor issues that are not under the control of the unit owner, I would feel safe enough to return to the area. As for the apartment itself, the building appears to be a bit older, but in overall good shape. There are minor maintenance issues such as some broken electrical outlet covers and a few cracks in sheetrock on the ceiling. However, the apartment was very clean, spacious, and well functioning. The major furniture, appliances, and countertops appeared to be relatively new, in great shape, and well maintained. Towels and linens were in great shape, clean, and plentiful as well. The A/C worked great despite the 90+ degree heat during our visit. We did not encounter any noise from any of the other apartments in the building during our stay. There are several sets of stairs to get up to the apartment which is at the top of the building, and then when you enter the apartment, you will go up one more set of stairs, so this should be a consideration if you have very small children or you have trouble getting up and down stairs. If you have small children, then you will need a baby gate to prevent any falls from the living room down to the main entrance. Our host communicated well with us, and responded quickly. Our stay was very short, so we didn't really need much, but when I did text/e-mail I received and immediate response. We would definitely return as this provides a very cost effective stay for a large family that provides us much more space and amenities than we would find at a local hotel.
