Numerous forests and meadows, as well as the kilometer-long Elbe Side Canal, invite you to take long walks.<br><br>When we viewed this house in January 2020, we found a property that had been standing since the 1970s (see photos from “Once Upon a Time… on our homepage”), whose approximately 1,600 square-meter wooded lot was inaccessible by vehicle and barely passable on foot. But we very quickly had a vision of what everything could look like in the end. Looking back now, we can say that our vision—and especially the feeling that arises even as you approach our vacation home—has exceeded all expectations.<br><br>We made the property accessible by vehicle and subsequently built a carport. The trees in the garden were pruned, some were cut down, and through a great deal of meticulous work, the area was transformed into a beautiful and inviting space. In the meantime, thanks in part to our farmer friend, we’ve hauled away nine large tractor trailers full of leaves, branches, and other yard waste. In addition, the wooden fence surrounding the property has been replaced, so that if you’re traveling with a dog or a child, you can sit back and relax completely. Today, we’re sitting on our newly built patio and, aside from the birdsong, we hear absolutely NOTHING. Meanwhile, you’ll often spot various squirrels that know our garden as a feeding spot (you’re welcome to feed them during your vacation—food is provided free of charge). In addition, the flight path of the cranes returning from winter is right near the house—sometimes directly overhead. We usually see deer in the field every day as well. Come down, enjoy the view, and recharge your energy and strength. We’ve made it our mission to ensure you feel right at home here—just like that… We’d also like to give you a sneak peek today at our “Sun-downer Steg” (sunset deck), which leads you to a hammock strung between two trees, where you can enjoy the sunset in complete peace and quiet. <br><br>The layout of the house has been completely transformed—walls have been removed and rooms merged—resulting in a home that now features a living room with an open kitchen and dining area, a master bedroom with a double bed, a bright bathroom in a shabby-chic style, and a small children’s room with a pull-out bed (which sleeps two), all complemented by an inviting, bright hallway. <br><br>For the furnishings, we’ve opted for a mix of new and high-quality items on one hand (new refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, new, high-quality fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom, hardwood floors, completely new electrical wiring, and new plumbing) on the one hand, and on the other hand, used items—some inherited from the house and some purchased—that we’ve refurbished in the shabby-chic style. (Hopefully, the pictures speak for themselves)<br><br>Wherever possible, we’ve made sure to take a NATURAL and sustainable approach.
