Our holiday home is situated in an idyllic and quiet location, yet very centrally located in Mainz-Kostheim.
You’ll be staying in the historic and oldest part of Mainz-Kostheim, one of the oldest wine-growing communities in the Rheingau. This is where the Main River flows into the Rhine.
Dating back to the 19th century, this newly renovated and lovingly redesigned holiday home is situated in a very quiet location, sheltered by Kostheim’s landmark, the Catholic Church of St. Kilian. It’s just a few steps to the Main River and the Maaraue recreational area.
From the terrace of your holiday home, you’ll enjoy not only a wonderful view of the treetops of the neighbouring linden trees, but also of St. Kilian Church and the adjacent historic church wall, part of which forms the exterior wall of your holiday home.
The holiday home can accommodate up to 5 people. A sixth person could sleep on an air mattress.
The 110-square-meter interior of the house is spread over two levels.
The ground floor features a very spacious living room with a 75-inch smart TV, a bathroom with natural light, a shower, and a bathtub, as well as a fully equipped kitchen with a spacious dining area where you can cook to your heart’s content.
In the kitchen, you’ll find not only an oven, a glass-ceramic cooktop, and a refrigerator with a freezer compartment, but also a coffee maker, electric kettle, and toaster, as well as other kitchen utensils, spices, and fresh coffee and tea.
A bed is set up in the living room for the fifth person, creating another very cosy sleeping option.
An air mattress could also be set up here for a sixth person.
On the upper floor are both bedrooms, each with a double bed (1.80 m x 2.00 m), as well as a guest bathroom with a window. One bedroom features an additional smart TV.
Wi-Fi and satellite TV are, of course, available, as are bed linens and towels.
The holiday rental also has a washing machine and a dryer. An ironing board and iron are also provided.
Please note that the staircase between floors is steeper than a typical staircase.
On your private terrace, with a view of St. Kilian Church and the property’s Mediterranean-style courtyard, you can sit comfortably and enjoy the peace and quiet with a glass of wine.
There is a lockable bike storage area in front of the house.
There are plenty of public parking spaces available around the house.
Please note—out of consideration for other guests—that this is a non-smoking property. Smoking is, however, permitted on the terrace. If you plan to bring a pet, please contact us in advance.
From your holiday home, you can reach the banks of the Main River, the wine tasting stand, and the Maaraue in less than a minute’s walk. The Maaraue is a protected landscape area and a local recreation area. Here you’ll enjoy a unique panoramic view of Mainz, watch the Main River flow into the Rhine, and—in the summer—visit one of the largest outdoor swimming pools in the area—or simply relax on the Rhine meadow or at the Kastel Rhine beach.
Public transport is available right near the holiday home, allowing you to travel to Mainz, Wiesbaden, and Frankfurt.
You can reach city centre Mainz by bus in 12 minutes without having to transfer. The Mainz-Kastel and Gustavsburg train stations, with their S-Bahn connections to Wiesbaden, Frankfurt, and Frankfurt Airport, among other destinations, are just a 5-minute bus ride away. An S-Bahn ride to Frankfurt Airport takes 25 minutes, and to Wiesbaden just 8 minutes.
Thanks to the nearby transport links, the surrounding area is also very easy to explore by car.
You can also explore our beautiful countryside by bike; several bike routes pass by Mainz-Kostheim. There is a public bike rental station about 100 metres away.
A bakery serving coffee is less than a minute’s walk from your holiday home; you can get fresh rolls there even on Sundays. Several supermarkets are within easy reach—either on foot, by bus, or by car.
You can buy wine directly from the local Kostheim winemakers. The Kostheim wine tasting stand on the banks of the Main River is open on weekends from May through August.
In the immediate vicinity of your holiday home, you’ll find numerous wine bars, winery taverns, wine-grower’s taverns,
