Welcome to Karlsruhe-Hohenwettersbach. Tradition meets modernity. One of the smallest and oldest habitable 2-room cottages in Karlsruhe—measuring approximately 40 m² and built in the “Tyrolean style”—is located on a very quiet residential street. Let “Mein Mini-Haus / Stein & Holz” surprise you—it’s sure to enchant you.
A stylishly furnished, historic mini-row house—which is several hundred years old—was built in the first half of the 18th century. At that time, it was owned by the Barons Schilling von Canstatt.
The History The residents of the former day labourers’ house were permitted to use the house in exchange for paying an annual protection fee and special levies for the church, school, and well, as well as performing certain compulsory labour duties. Because of the residents’ modest living conditions at the time, the street was popularly known as “Suppengasse” (Soup Alley). Thus, the history is just as interesting as the house itself.
Ground Floor On the ground floor, you’ll find a seamlessly integrated kitchen, fully equipped with a dishwasher, oven, ceramic cooktop with two burners, an exhaust hood, and a refrigerator with an integrated freezer compartment. The built-in kitchen is new and equipped with high-quality AEG appliances (Dieter Knoll Collection). A Nespresso coffee machine, toaster, WMF kettle, silverware, dishes, and pots are provided for you to prepare a small but delicious meal.
The living and dining area features hardwood floors, a stone wall, and a relic from a bygone era built into the wall. Here you’ll find the marble dining table with two chairs and a bench.
Another highlight: a genuine Tyrolean wood-burning stove that heats the entire house when you choose to heat with wood. The wood-burning stove doubles as a backrest and provides cosy warmth, especially in winter. Of course, standard radiators are also available.
The cosy sofa converts into a bed and has a sleeping surface measuring 1.20 m x 1.90 m. A Samsung Smart TV (The Frame) with approximately 150 public and private channels has a screen diagonal of 80 cm and sits on an elegant USM Haller rolling cart.
The lighting design, stone wall, and hardwood floor have been architecturally coordinated to perfectly complement the furniture in the living and dining areas.
Outside, right next to the front door, there is a small bench that invites you to linger—and is for your exclusive use. Here you can comfortably enjoy your coffee or strike up a conversation with your neighbors.
Attic and Roof Peak The attic features a small yet charming bathroom with natural light, a shower pan, and a glass partition. Here you’ll find a 6 kg Bauknecht washing machine, bathroom cabinets, and a hair dryer.
The dressing area, right next to the bathroom, is equipped with a clothes rack and drawers. A large wall mirror ensures you can get dressed just right for the perfect workday.
For your daily home office routine, the desk is positioned right by the window. The Telekom internet connection (Wi-Fi) offers speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s for downloads and up to 40 Mbit/s for uploads.
In the attic, there is a very romantically situated sleeping alcove. It is accessible via a ladder and equipped with a 1.40 m x 2 m Emma One spring mattress (2021 test winner from Stiftung Warentest). There is also a small window with blackout curtains and optimal ventilation.
We are already looking forward to welcoming you in person.
