A Composer's View is tucked away in the scenic western Catskills along the shores of the Pepacton Reservoir, one of the reservoirs that supplies New York City with its clean drinking water. The drive along the reservoir is one of the area's hidden gems, offering stunning mountain views in every season.

While the property feels wonderfully secluded, you're still within easy driving distance of several charming Catskills towns:

Downsville – approximately 10 minutes
Walton – approximately 20 minutes
Andes – approximately 25 minutes
Delhi – approximately 35 minutes

Each town offers its own collection of local restaurants, cafés, breweries, farmers markets, antique shops, and small businesses worth exploring. Whether you're spending the day hiking, fishing, paddling, scenic driving, or simply enjoying the mountain views, A Composer's View is the perfect home base for experiencing the western Catskills.

Guests have exclusive access to the entire home during their stay, including all indoor living spaces, the private pool area, outdoor patios, and the beautifully landscaped grounds surrounding the property.

Welcome to this one-of-a-kind cabin, thoughtfully designed for comfort and relaxation. The property offers three cozy sleeping areas: a serene main bedroom with a king-size bed and dedicated workspace, a charming attic featuring a queen-size bed and private balcony, and a spacious basement with another queen-size bed that opens up to a lively hangout area and bar. The hangout space includes two sofas—one of them a queen-size sleeper—perfect for movie nights or late-night conversations by the fire.

Step outside to take in the breathtaking views from the balcony, unwind on the beautiful wooden deck, or enjoy a swim in the pool during the summer months.

Built and thoughtfully designed by acclaimed composer, architect, author, and professor José Raúl Bernardo, this one-of-a-kind Catskills cabin reflects his passion for music, architecture, and storytelling. Every beam, window, and handcrafted detail was envisioned as part of a home that feels as much like a work of art as it does a place to stay.

José Raúl shared this home with his partner of 35 years, Bob Joyner, an artist whose creativity and warmth helped shape the spirit of the cabin. Together they created a peaceful sanctuary where art, music, and nature existed in perfect harmony.

Today, we're honored to share their extraordinary home with guests. Whether you're enjoying a quiet morning overlooking the Pepacton Reservoir, relaxing by the fire, or taking in the craftsmanship throughout the cabin, we hope you'll feel the inspiration that gave A Composer's View its name.


We highly recommend arriving in your own vehicle, as public transportation, rideshare services, and taxis are extremely limited in this rural area.

Due to the property's mountain location, a 4WD or AWD vehicle is strongly recommended year-round. The driveway is steep, unpaved, and can change quickly with weather conditions. From November 1 through April 15, winter tires or snow chains are required for safe access.

Once you arrive, having your own vehicle is the best way to explore the Catskills and nearby towns, restaurants, hiking trails, and attractions at your own pace.

Any use of the lake by guests is done so at your own risk and with acknowledgement of water safety precautions. Please always wear a life jacket and never leave children under the age of 18 unattended near the water. We thank you in advance.

YEARLY FIRE BAN: Please note that New York State enforces an annual burn ban each spring (typically March through May), which prohibits outdoor burning, including campfires and fire pits. We kindly ask guests to follow all local regulations during this time.

Wildlife Is Part of the Charm. You may spot deer, turkeys, or even the occasional fox roaming the lawn—just one of the many perks of mountain life! Sometimes you’ll notice droppings outside; they’re harmless and actually great for the soil. Welcome to the countryside!

Respect the Quiet. Sound travels easily in the mountains—please keep outdoor noise to a minimum, especially at night, so everyone can enjoy the peace and stargazing.

Early check-ins and late check-outs are not guaranteed and are subject to availability. To reserve either option, guests may purchase up to 5 additional hours for a flat fee of $100.
