I am a former university professor of anthropology. I have worked with native cultures for much of my life. I have written some books, one you can find on Amazon.com is "We Were Taught to Plant Corn Not to Kill" by myself and Taxa Leon. I have also worked in the international aid programs starting from Peace Corps and including the United Nations in Africa. There is a lot to explore in the culture and people in Tichana and the whole island, be patient and listen. Enjoy Ometepe, this is a special place!

What makes this property unique

Few cabins on the Madras Island of twin islands of Ometepe have their own waterfront. This is a simple cabin. The stargazing from the cabin is majestic and really one of the best dark sky locations I have visited. We are next to the National Park and the rain forest on the volcano has vibrant ecosystems and wildlife. The cabin is built well in the style of native houses of the past, which are almost gone on much of Ometepe. My local host Simeon is a kind and friendly soul and will bend over backwards to be helpful.
