When the Beveroe estate, with its large whale-shaped barn, still stood on the Geltinger Birk, this house was built nearby by a former landowner who had fled the area. The forester’s lodge is situated on the edge of the forest, in the heart of the scenic conservation area, in a completely secluded location. Painted oxblood red, it is visible from afar, even from the Charlotte Mill, and the view from the terrace and garden extends just as far, sweeping today over the pastures where wild horses and Highland cattle graze—animals used to maintain the area’s landscape.

Those who spend their holidays here are, at times, completely alone with nature. Just a few steps through the forest from the forester’s office, and you catch a glimpse of the open sea. In winter, you’ll sometimes find it frozen solid and encased in ice, shrouded in complete silence. In summer, however, you pack your bag in the morning and bike to the beach at Falshöft, returning to this little paradise in the evening when the fox and the hare say good night to each other.
