Ask a questionAbout Cheryl Davidsen
We are Eugene and Cheryl Davidsen and have managed Payne Lake Lodge for 13 years now. I (Cheryl) was born and raised here in southern Alberta and grew up in Mountain View. Payne Lake Lodge has an interesting story. It is owned by a wonderful Japanese lady named Yumi who still resides in Japan. She purchased the property back in the '90's when she came to visit Canada. In Japan she had met my nephew who was was on a two year LDS mission there. After his mission ended she requested to visit Canada. She fell in love with the land and was in awe at the wide open space of Alberta. She decided to purchase property and build a lodge. Though it took several years to complete, it has always been a spot for families to gather. As more and more people hear about the lodge it's booked many times two years in advance. But there are always spots for last minute bookings as well.
Why Cheryl Davidsen chose Mountain View
Families love this facility. It is in a private beautiful spot. You feel all to yourselves yet you are not that far away from the main stream. It seems to be in a perfect location only 20 minutes from several main attractions including- Waterton, Cardston, Great Canadian Barn Dance and even the U.S. border where the Glacier Parks are located. For families and friends to rent a large enough facility in Waterton, cost would be high. Many times you do not find a place that can keep everyone under one roof with a large enough room to all gather in. Imagine playing, singing and laughing to your hearts content. Imagine writing up an itinerary of amazing fun activities for your family event and only minutes away; hiking, biking, dancing, attending live theater, horse trail riding, ATVing, boating, swimming, fishing, old fashioned horse carriage rides and much much more. Imagine putting on programs in the lodge with a sound system for your entertainers in the family. Imagine doing treasure hunts, games, paint balling, water sliding; the ideas are endless for you and your family to have a hoot! We've had families bring in their own ATV's, their own play grounds, their own games, their own horses, even a train of carts pulled by a sit down lawn mower. Mini water slides can be made to slide down the hill right by the lodge. The field is big enough and flat enough to even have a great game of softball. In the winter you can skate on the pond and sled down the road. It's fantastically fun. We have loved taking care of Payne Lake Lodge. The area is so beautiful and it is so satisfying to provide a place for families to gather. We clean it, we maintain it, we cherish it. It has become so dear to us because it brings families together! And.... they have a GREAT time!
What makes this Lodge unique
By far, the best thing about Payne Lake Lodge is it's surrounding beauty. To stand on the deck and look out over Payne Lake with the sun going down behind the Rockies, to travel down the road towards the lodge and see Old Chief Mountain staring you majestically in the face, to actually see the star filled sky at nights, to hear the frogs singing, the coyotes yipping and best of all to see your family enjoying the beauty, the sounds, and the joy of just plain being together. It's simply the best.
