The situation you describe was the result of a human error made by a newly hired staff member who mistakenly gave your apartment key to another guest. This should never happen, and we fully understand how distressing and unsafe that must have felt. We immediately addressed the issue internally and ensured that this error will not be repeated. We would also like to clarify a few points: • We did not refuse your refund — the reimbursement was processed. • VRBO did not open a formal investigation team regarding this matter. • VRBO offered you the option to remain in the apartment after the incident, which you understandably declined. Although this was an isolated mistake, it caused unnecessary stress and we take full responsibility for it. Over many years of hosting across multiple platforms, we have maintained excellent reviews and a strong record of guest satisfaction.
