'Penthouse' At 5 Star Ocean Front Resort Velas Vallarta

You will be in for a real treat when you first walk into our 'Penthouse' Condo. It is on the 6th floor of an 8 story building, but due to the end units not having anything above the large patio and the exclusiveness of the oversized patio/balcony we call it the 'Penthouse'. The patio/balcony is one of a select few that is very oversized at around +/- 1,000 square feet. It is also on the most desirable side of resort, and building as you will have views of El Centro or Downtown PV (and all of the Bay of Banderas from the balcony) as well as the pool etc. out of every window! This Resort is now unique among the new modern resorts and Condo's that have been built in recent years. It has the feel of a more original style Mexican Resort with lush tropical vegetation as well as Peacock's, Iguana's and many types of Birds stopping by. You will not feel like you're in Miami here.

The A/C system was completely replaced in 2024, Also most of the furniture was replaced in 2024 as well.

Velas Vallarta participates and assists the Giant Turtle Sanctuary in protecting and assisting the baby turtles, during the hatching season, at 8-8:30 every night that they have them, (I have seen between 4-250 at a time) you and or your children can go down to the beach and security will let you have a baby giant turtle to release into the ocean! A once in a life time experience that will be one of the most memorable from your trip! Time of year can start in October and runs into around March.

Please treat our home like your home while you are using it, it is much appreciated! No Smoking inside the unit. If you have smoked inside the unit there will be a large charge to have the unit cleaned. You can smoke out one of the balconies if you would like. Please do your own dishes, the house keeping staff will wipe down the countertops, but they DO NOT clean dishes etc. Housekeeping is Free once per week, on Saturday if you would like it. You can have Housekeeping clean the unit more than once for an additional fee. There is a Dishwasher in the Unit, please only use the Dishwashing detergent underneath the sink.

Celebration getaway

We were in Mexico to celebrate our daughter’s birthday and graduation from high school. The condo had the perfect set up for us to be together as a family and have our own Bedrooms. The patio overlooking the ocean was definitely the favorite place to be!Great location! Beautiful views, easy access to resort amenities, quick walk to other restaurants and marina. Resort staff is very friendly and helpful.

Wow! Amazing property- amazing view

Loved this condo so much! Our family had a wonderful stay - best balcony and view ever. Best of both worlds with quiet apartment with view and access to resort beach and pools. Resort is very well run and staff are lovely. Steve was an excellent host and was responsive and helpful. Price good too. Would definitely recommend.

Always happier at Velas!

Spent a great week at Steve’s property. Enjoyed beautiful sunsets from the patio every night, margaritas in hand! We have been coming to Velas for many years and were excited to be staying at an end unit. It did not disappoint. Spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable. We will be back.

Family Fun in Paradise

This is an amazing property and a lovely resort. We could not have asked for a better place to stay do our trip to Mexico with our whole family. The view from the penthouse and the size of it make hanging out there no problem. We had small children and so spent some time in the unit. The resort is lovely not too large but still with all the resort amenities. The pool is really great, large and a sweet kiddie pool. Would definitely return!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Location is great. The grounds are lush. Pool is fun with volleyball & a cool little “river” connecting to another (warmer) pool. Would stay here again. The owner was very quick to respond when I had questions.

Unforgettable views

This condo is amazing! The layout is wonderful for a family vacation. The views from every window are beautiful and allow you a view of the ocean. The location makes it easy to get around or just stay at the resort. My mother in law spent an entire day just out on the deck enjoying the views and sound of waves. Highly recommend!

Desperately Needs Deep Cleaning & Maintenance

Let me start by saying that I've hesitated to send this review because it will likely impact this property's nearly perfect reputation. With that said, as a regular VRBO user who relies on the comments posted by other reviewers, I think it's important to be honest about my recent stay. My comments are also prompted by another reviewer from 2018 who had similar issues with the unit, which leads me to believe that even though the owners have been made aware of the problems present, they've been ignored. I chose this place based on its location, size, amenities, and description in the listing. Booking was easy and Steve was always responsive in his communications. By far, the best thing about our Christmas vacation was the resort of Velas Vallarta! The staff and amenities are exceptional, and my family always felt safe, attended to, and accommodated in every way. Not only were the grounds immaculate and gorgeous, but the pools, restaurants, shops, entertainment, and activities were impressive. Always gracious, the staff went out of their way to greet and serve their guests. If the condo would have been as impressive as the resort itself, it would have been a perfect vacation. On to the condo itself... On first glance, it is exactly as portrayed in the pictures and is colorful, spacious, and has a fun, local flair to its decor. It doesn't take long, however, to discover that it's been neglected for months, if not years. I can mostly overlook slightly stained furniture and outdated bedding, but when it comes to cleanliness and safety, I have to speak up. If I had thought these issues could have quickly and easily been remedied by the hotel staff, I would have asked. Unfortunately, the problems were well beyond what could have been fixed during our stay. Screen doors were off track, drapes were torn and thread bear, kitchen cabinets, drawers and towels were dirty (some with dried on food), the patio doors don't lock, some of the dresser drawers were broken, the closets were stuffed with other people's belongings, dirty clothes had been left in bathroom cabinets and bedside tables, and the showers were constantly clogging. By far though, and most bothersome, was the sewer smell that emanated from the master bathroom to the rest of the condo and forced us to keep the windows open. With all of that said, I encourage the owners to do some much needed deep cleaning and maintenance on their unit; it really could be a fantastic property.

Fantastic property with best view ever!

We have been travelling to PV for almost 20 years and we also own timeshare at the Velas Vallarta. On this occasion we needed extra room and decide to book Steve's property. It was perfect for us plus daughter and 2 granddaughters. Everyone loved it. Obviously the huge balcony and the amazing view speak for themselves. The unit itself is large and comfortable - but we spent most of our time outside or on the resort. We had room to entertain other family on our deck who were staying at another property - they were jealous! Steve was easy to deal with and answered any questions promptly. We will definitely rent from Steve again

My name is Steve Davis, and I work for Coldwell Banker in San Jose CA.

Velas Vallarta has always had a special place in my heart as I have been coming to PV since the late 80's. My father and 3 of his buddies bought this unique Large Veranda unit in 2000. I was fortunate enough to be able to bring in several of my close friends and their families to take over from the other original owner families in 2023.

It was only used by family and friends until the middle of 2014 when it was first rented. It was rented out for a few years, then sporadically for several more years until 2023. We are now renting it again after the change in partial ownership to a younger generation.

All of the current owners/partners and friends live in The San Francisco Bay Area and San Diego area.

I am personally very happy to be able to share my Home Away from Home, which is so close to my heart with others again.

I got engaged in 2015 on the Veranda with our own personal FIREWORKS show shot off from the beach below! My Wife still loves to tell that story!

Why they chose this property

Velas Vallarta has amazing service from the staff and team members with authentic Mexican style. My family and I have been coming to Velas since 2000, and until the 2020 Pandemic, I recognized almost ALL of the faces and knew most of the Velas Team members by name. There are a lot of new faces around Velas in the last couple of years, and I know many of their names but there are still people that have been working here long before I arrived for the first time!

What makes this property unique

The Amazing views out of all windows and Veranda...and of course The Baby Tortugas! Being located on the 6th floor beach side of the property provides a wonderful soundtrack of crashing waves all day and night long.
