The cabin and location were great, so peaceful and quiet. Beautiful views along the river. We did a lot of cooking and the kitchen had everything we needed. Very comfortable and cozy. Would definitely stay again and recommend!

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Looking forward to having you all back.
This was a great location to get away for a week! We loved the feeling of seclusion, the creek so close, and the fire pit right by the water. Morning coffee was so peaceful on the deck with the sound of the rushing creek. We even saw deer walk through the property during our stay. The house itself could use a couple of updates (flooring, kitchen), but it didn't detract from us having a comfortable stay.
This was a great property for our family vacation. The house was very comfortable for our family of 6 and dogs. Being able to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the river flowing was the icing on the cake.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay and had a chance to get out of the heat. Thanks for choosing our humble cabin for your vacation.
We really enjoy our stay with my family and my Husband's family. The house was old, but super clean, confortable beds, well-equipped kitchen and a great fire pit by th river. We will definitely stay here again when visiting the area.
I can't say enough about how wonder our stay was at the River Side Mountain Refuge. My children enjoyed 2 full weeks of no television and simple outdoor living. We made wonderful memories enjoying the creek, lake and hikes in the mountains. I loved the cool breeze in the morning, afternoon showers, and of course just sitting on the porch watching the hummingbirds. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, look no further, this is your place. My family and I will definitely be back.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the kind words. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. You are definitely welcome back. Safe travels.
We got married at the community event center in Vallecito and stayed here for the weekend. Loved being by the creek, with the fire pit. Had a great time and stay.
We enjoyed our stay. Cabin worked great. The river was beautiful just hard to catch fish, running fast. Great base camp for 4 days exploring the area.

Glad you had fun. Fishing the river can be hot or miss, we have had luck fishing the banks of the lake or along the dam.
About the host
Hosted by Steve Hunsicker
In my youth I enjoyed spending many summers visiting family who owned cabins in the area. My most fond memories from my childhood are of our family visits to Vallecito lake; fishing on the river and lake, boating, hiking for hours, exploring, our day trips to Mesa Verde and other mountain towns and making friends among the local residents. It has been my dream for many years to eventually have my own cabin that I can share with family and friends. I have been blessed and now have a cabin of my own that I can enjoy and share. I hope that I can help make some wonderful memories for you to remember.
