The lake house is completely remodeled in Nordic style. It sits just off of one of the most desired lakes in Minnesota, Trout Lake, on the Whitefish Chain. There are plenty of boating opportunities on these lakes, so many of our guests bring a boat or will rent for their stay. There are several restaurants you can boat in and out of on the lakes, making it a wonderful destination for those that want that experience. Located on the property, there is a large dock area to relax and visit, as well as a back deck with a grill and chiminea/ solo stove option. We also have a fire pit for use down below at the water's edge. We also have 4 bicycles, 4 paddleboards, one kayak, and two child-size kayaks for use, along with a full training gym in the garage area. There is also a wonderful bike and walking trail that runs along the property and is about a 4 mile loop. Inside, there are 2 bedrooms on the main floor with attached bathrooms, and an upstairs open loft with a king size bed and 2 twin beds. It also has a bonus room above the garage, complete with a large couch, TV, and poker/ card table. The kitchen area is fully stocked. We have this place for ourselves, so anything we use, you can use. This is our special place we love to come back home to; Lisa grew up in MN on the lakes, and now lives and works in real estate in Nashville, TN. If you have any questions on golf, entertainment, restaurants, etc... we are happy to help!

You guys were wonderful and hope to have you back! Glad we could accommodate you and have a nice getaway at the lake.
Two families with kids shared this property for a family wedding. It was as listed, nicely stocked with everything we needed. Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. Kids enjoyed the games, paddle boards, and kayaks. Kitchen amenities were great and we were able to prepare all our meals easily.
We had a wonderful trip and it was a convenient location to uses our home base.
Our stay was simply lovely! Beautiful home, great setting, numerous amenities.
Lisa was available to answer any questions we had.
We pontooned, kayaked, fished, paddle-boarded, used the sauna, went deer looking, ate well and relaxed!
Thank you Lisa so very much😊

The property is as good as it looks on the website. Our grandson and his fishing partner were contestants in a Minnesota State High School fishing tournament. We knew we would have to pull the boats everynight. Yhe access is just across the bay. Perfect . The area above the garage gave the boys a place to relax in the evenings. The home is well stocked , comfortable and an excellent setting. Lots of wildlife!
This property was gorgeous. The owners have redone everything inside the house and it was beautiful along with very clean. Trout Lake is our favorite lake on the Whitefish Chain. We will be back for sure.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the cabin. The kitchen was well stocked and everything was easy to use. The view of the lake was great and the kids enjoyed the beach and dock. There are a lot of stairs (my daughter counted 67) so if anyone in a group has trouble with stairs, something to consider, but was just fine for our group. The house was very clean and the space is used efficiently. There is a game room over the garage which my kids did not use very often but is a nice separate space. My kids used the basketball court a ton and there was a nice sidewalk loop down Manhattan that we were able to walk and run on without worrying about cars. We would definitely stay here again - it was hard to leave!
This home was fabulous, everything we wished for, spectacular sunsets, quiet, lake so clear, fishing. Home had everything you could possibly need, and more, so cozy, beds so comfortable. Lisa so attentive, to all your needs and questions, so kind. Would rent again. Memories, priceless.
Everything about this home was perfect. It is a great layout and accommodated our group of 6 perfectly. The lakeshore is pristine as well. The host was very responsive and we would definitely stay again.

We loved this cabin for our family get away and the Crosslake area has so many fun antique shops and restaurants. Location is great. We loved the large, well equipped kitchen, decks, sunroom and dock. There is also a huge family room above the garage. Great dock for our boat and we made a lot of memories teaching the kids how to fish off the dock.
We had a good time , week went way to fast.. I would rent this property again, but there is 67 stairs to the lake so if older or out of shape be carful...
Good Times !! Loved it!!
Loved everything about our stay. The cabin was so convenient, cute, and comfy. We loved the property, the views, and all the amenities provided. It was the perfect size for our family of 7. Lisa was very easy to work with and accommodating. We hope to stay again next summer!
The Big Trout and the Whitefish chain of lakes provide plenty water fun. The lake stayed very active our entire stay. The nice dock provided a place to relax, tie up our boat, and something for our daughter to cannonball off of into the lake. The fire pit had plenty of seating for our entire family. There are a lot of stairs from the house to the lake but we managed the trips.
The house was very clean, nicely furnished and very comfortable for our family. Some blinds or darker curtains would have helped keep out the early morning sun. The owners were very nice and responsive to our questions.
Overall we loved our stay, would recommend it to anyone, and hope to come back again.
Thanks,
Mike R.

Disliked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Poor choice!
Friends of owners were at the lake when we arrived & had used cabin. They had to take their personal belongings and remove food from the refrigerator. Soon found the coffee maker dirty, dishwasher full of dishes & dryer full of towels. Under the couches, filth. Cabin was spot cleaned at best. Owner, Lisa, never responded to her friends being at cabin. Not worth the money we paid!

In response, we had a cleaner there as soon as the last renters left, which was the morning prior to the original check in time of 3pm. I received a text from Sheryl asking why there was a car in the driveway at 1pm (this is very typical as a cleaner and her daughter were there). I cannot answer to the issue with a friend being there but assumed this may have been the cleaner trying to finish everything up.
I spoke to the cleaner about the situation, she said they arrived early as they were still cleaning, and apologized for leaving towels and the coffee filter. As a cleaner, she owns a local resort in the area and cleans for them on a weekly basis and is more than qualified to take care of these details. Our standards are extremely high and I was only there to hear one side of the story and apologize for this as it is not a normal experience.
I made a point to be there for the departure of this family and the place was left in bad shape, as assessed by the cleaner and myself. We want to assure everyone we have not had any issues after this and we will be more selective going forward on who we will be renting to. If there are ever any issues such as this I would expect the renter to call me and let me know and I would have no problem getting a cleaner (I have 3 available) over to take care of any issues immediately.
Working with Lisa to plan our trip and throughout our stay was such a gift. She was helpful, available and felt like a friend, which makes being in a rental property all the more cozy and special.
The house was charming and the loons on the lake were magical. I highly recommend the Davis house.

We had a wonderful time at this place with our family. It is a fantastic cabin with all the amenities one could want for and the lake was stunning. Greg was fantastic navigating real time through some storm related issues and otherwise it was a peaceful, fun-filled week at the lake. Loved all the Scandinavian touches. 😊. Good work out on the stairs down to the lake.

About the host
Hosted by Lisa Davis
I grew up in Brainerd, MN, BRD airport, operated by Delta airlines. I am in real estate in Nashville, TN. I played golf in college down in Nashville and really haven't left there since. We are avid golfers and have worked around at all of the courses in the area, it is a wonderful destination for the sport as well. Hard to decide between lake and golf time :)
Our daughters are growing and go to school in Nashville. We try and spend as much time in MN as possible during the summers, but the schedule really doesn't allow it like it used to.
Why they chose this property
Best chain of lakes in MN, and Trout Lake is truly a special lake. The color and depth is beyond any of the other lakes, and the sunset is absolutely breathtaking. We plan on using this property for years to come with our family and decided to open it up to others when we are not around simply because we don't want it to go to waste. At this stage of our lives, we have only been able to use it one month out of the year at best.
What makes this property unique
Big Trout Lake is very special and anyone familiar with the area will agree. Great swimming and clear water (rock bottom), beautiful sunsets, and boating opportunities. It is lake of choice for us and many others. We prefer the Whitefish Chain because it is a little further north than Gull Lake area, great boating, beautiful pine trees, great people, and beautiful elevation and views in comparison to other areas and lakes. There are so many options for what to do, we end up realizing we didn't get around to everything most trips!
