Convenient and quiet location to Bay of Fundy - a car is required for sure. Place was clean although smelt a bit musty and needed airing out. Good size dining space allowed for a family visit and dinner. Did not spend a lot of time at the property as we were visiting family but the time we did was relaxing.
Such a comfortable and cozy house. It has all the amenities and then some. Really enjoyed the peaceful and quiet home and gorgeous surroundings! Our family really enjoyed ourselves!

A beautiful quiet spot on the spectacular NS side of the Bay of Fundy. Great deck, woodstove to take the chill out of the lvr, excellent working kitchen, nice bathroom and a comfortable bed all made for a wonderful five nights.

We only stayed for 2 nights at this delightful cottage but it was perfect. Very clean with everything you need. Internet is slow but not needed if you want to enjoy a relaxing vacation.

Wonderful to hear you had a relaxing stay-I will address internet speed to see if there is anyway to improve it for future use. Glad you could see this part of Nova Scotia and enjoy the tranquility.
We only stayed for two nights but felt so comfortable, and our 5- and 2-year-olds liked this place most of all the places we stayed in Nova Scotia! Little amenities like a couple pantry goods and a great local guidebook were game-changers for our stay on the north shore. We loved the quiet cottage community and lovely walk down to the lighthouse and rock beach.

Elaine,
Just loved hearing about your stay and that the kids enjoyed themselves. That brings me joy as it reminds me of the times spent here in the summer with our own young children. Glad you enjoyed the pantry items and our spin on local treasure spots and destinations in our guidebook over the years. Thank you for staying at Kinsea House
Kinsea House was the perfect getaway spot while visiting Nova Scotia for a wedding. We loved exploring the short walk to visit the Margaretsville lighthouse, the pier, the art gallery and the incredible waterfall down the beach! The main living area in the house itself was great for relaxing. Being able to see the Bay of Fundy from the windows was also a plus. The place was clean upon arrival and having a washer and dryer was super helpful.

Hi Kelly,
Thank you for taking the time to review Kinsea House and happy to hear you enjoyed yourself and it met your expectations.
If you are looking for a quiet haven to call home while on vacation, this is the place. Internet signal not great, not a lot of channels but we did not travel to NS to
stay in and watch TV! Beautiful scenery, country quiet, close to many amenities, we absolutely loved our time at Kinsea House ❤️
Beautiful home overlooking the Bay of Fundy! The Kinsey house has everything you could need for a great week away from home. Very friendly people at the wharf. Local artist painted a rock I found on the beach of the Margaretville lighthouse!
We lived our stay ! Only drawback was that we were farther from family then we anticipated so lots of driving.
Thank you Leslie for sharing your beautiful home.

We were there for 3 days, a family with 5 kids, and had a great time. The house has a lot of room and everything we need. The crib came in handy.
The harbour and lighthouse is a 2 minute walk away. You can see the bay from the house and watch the fog coming in.
The weather was warm and dry, so we didn't stay inside too much and even did most of the cooking over the firepit.

Glad you enjoyed your stay and that the house accommodated your large family!
The house was wonderful! Very comfortable, lovely remodeling that still retained the charm of an older home, and an INCREDIBLE setting. Just a few steps from the front door, you can watch the tides swing in the Bay of Fundy. Sitting on the front deck, reading my book and looking out at the quiet loveliness around me -- pure bliss. Margaretsville was a good spot from which to head south to the Digby area, and on another day, head north to the Grand Pre/Wolfville area. Such peaceful, idyllic countryside made driving to the different sights a real pleasure.

Property needs renovation. Host did not notify us that listed BBQ was broken, kettle was missing. It stinks upstairs and it’s impossible to open windows to have airflow.
My wife and I were traveling to see family in the Kingston NS area and found this historic cottage to be a nice place to use as our home base. The large main room has great peekaboo views of the Bay from the nice living room. The kitchen, though rustic, had all we needed and the modest grill on the deck did the trick the one night when we hosted my mom, brother and sister-in-law.
We slept in the comfortable bed in what must have been the dining room at one point. There are 2 other bedrooms upstairs, but the one on the main floor has what felt like a memory foam mattress. A minor quibble is that the fitted sheet on our bed was clearly worn out and just would not stay on.
We enjoyed our 5 day stay at Kinsea Cottage.

We had a wonderful stay at the KInsea Cottage that is located on the Bay of Fundy in Margretsville. We like to cook dinner, so we were happy to see that the kitchen pantry had a nice array of staples (flour, sugar, etc) and spices. In addition, the kitchen was well-equipped, including a lobster pot and large electric griddle for cooking the fresh seafood that you can get at the wharf in Margretsville or in Harbourville. The gas grill was great for BBQing and there was plenty of wood for the backyard firepit and s'more making. We had a great first day just hanging out at the Margretsville Wharf, buying reasonably priced art at the Art Shack and walking to the waterfall at low tide. In addition, we made trips to hike Cape Split, visit Burntcoat park, and bike on the rail trail from Kentville to Wolfville. Leslie gave us plenty of other great suggestions, but we only stayed five nights. I highly recommend visiting the NSLC store in Kingston (15 minutes away) and have one of the workers help you find a nice Nova Scotian wine to go with all the amazing seafood.
The building is old but charming. The yard is large and has a view of the harbour. Location is great being close to the beach, wharf and Lighthouse. Locals are friendly. Check in was seemless. We think the following is due to covid? Many cob webs throughout, there was an overwhelming musty odour that we combatted and unfortunately the cutlery was not clean and the stove was very dirty. We cleaned the bbq and used it instead. The living room furniture is well past its normal service life as well.
Our stay was enjoyable despite the set backs.

Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay at Kinsea House. We have had some challenges dealing with COVID and the labor and supply issues it has caused. At this time we are appointing upgrades to our service furniture in main living space as well as kitchen appliances. We have enhanced our cleaning protocols and safety measures to best practice possible. Guest health and safety while preserving charm during the pandemic has been our priority.
Amazing kitchen, eating area, deck , view. Very charming. Clean , quiet area close to beach. Loved all of it (except maybe could use a new mattress in main bedroom).

Thank you for your feedback. Taking you up on your suggestion and replacing the mattress!
In short, we enjoyed our stay. The cottage has everything you need. My only complaint would be the sleeping accommodations. Only 2 bedrooms, and the beds were not very comfortable (for us). We would however consider staying here again!

About the host

I grew up in the beautiful Annapolis Valley and spent much of my life at the Fundy Shore in the summer. Since moving to NJ I always wanted to share this special place with my children and husband. We spend a part of every summer here and hope you love it as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
Take day trips to Annapolis Royal, Vineyards and Winerys in Gaspereau Valley, clam digging at Blomidon, Habitation, Port Royal, South Shore, Lunenburg, Oak Island and Halifax. With Atlantic Standard time you can still be back to watch the sun set over the Lighthouse.
What makes this property unique
A wonderful place for small children as there is a large grassy yard in front and back.
