Memorable holiday

First time visit to the Bas-Rhin region and based in Barr was perfect to reach all places. Gite Le Léonardo was a perfect apartment. We had a two week holiday at the Gite. Everything about the gite was great quality and it was very well equipped. We were met by Henry (the owner) who explained everything to us and told us to contact him for any issues during our stay. Special mention to the beds which seemed very new and were very comfortable (very much appreciated after many days walking around towns, villages and the countryside). The apartment is within 5 min walk of the town of Barr which is a delight. We ate several meals at the local Winstub restaurant serving traditional Alsacian food. We also enjoyed buying food at the local markets and cooking in the gite. Very nice touch that Henry and his wife Madeline left some lovely gifts at the start of the holiday. Especially delightful were the home made configures. Would not hesitate to recommend the gite

Beautiful property, beautiful gardens in a beautiful location - Beautiful! After a long drive from Glasgow over 2 days - we had 10 relaxing days in which we were able visit our French family and enjoy various locations in Alsace - before moving on to Paris for 4 days. We always judge the quality of our self-catering holidays on the cleanliness of the property when we arrive - Peter and Christiane scored 10 out of 10 - it was immaculate. Many thanks to our hosts and hopefully Peter has forgiven me for taking the guest book away with me when we left - it is in the post on a next day signed delivery!.

Very well equipped apartment in wonderful old building

Very well equipped. Everything was very new. Comfortable bed. Lovely kitchen. Garden area was perfect for a quiet meal in the evening. Bathroom has large shower cubicle and two sinks, all built to a high specification. Location was good as a touring base for the wine route. Train to Strasbourg and good roads to Colmar and Basel etc. Owners were friendly and helpful. We had one tiny problem and it was dealt with immediately. Really didn't want to leave!!

House with spectacular views.

On arrival we were warmly greeted by Claudine & Christian, who live in the village. They presented us with a bottle of wine, Claudine's home made quince jelly, and a freshly baked still warm Kugelhopf cake made by Christian, all delicious. The lounge has two large picture windows giving spectacular views over the valley, we saw deer just below the house. The house was spotless, kichen & bathroom very modern and very well equipped. The bed was large & comfortable, and with quality linens throughout. Car parking is off street and undercover. The large deck surrounds the house on three sides, giving great views in all directions. The surrounding forests are readily accessible. We had a relaxing and very comfortable week in the house, everything was perfect. Many thanks to Claudine & Christian.
