About this property

Woodland Lodge at Massanutten

Welcome to Woodland Lodge at Massanutten, a comfortable and well-equipped home for families and groups looking to enjoy time together in the mountains.

The main living area features large windows, exposed beams, and inviting space to gather after a day of exploring. The updated kitchen is thoughtfully equipped for preparing meals at home, and the dining area is a natural place to share a meal, play a game, or plan the next day’s activities.

Outside, guests can enjoy the screened porch, deck, and large wooded yard. It is a peaceful setting for morning coffee, an afternoon outside, or relaxing at the end of the day. The flat driveway is rare on the mountain and makes arrival and unloading convenient, including in winter.

The home is especially well suited for families. The lower-level playroom includes toys, books, puzzles, games, and an air hockey table. Outdoors, there is open play space, cornhole, and a low ropes course for kids. We apologize in advance if no one wants to leave.

Located within Massanutten Resort, Woodland Lodge provides easy access to skiing, golf, the waterpark, hiking, and many other area activities. Whether you are planning a family getaway, a ski weekend, or time to relax in the Shenandoah Valley, we hope the house will be a great fit for your stay.

We take pride in keeping the home clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Detailed arrival and house information will be provided through Vrbo before check-in, and an in-house guide is available during your stay.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions as you plan your trip. We love the house and the area, have lots of recommendations, and are always happy to help guests make the most of their time at Massanutten.

About the host

We met at James Madison University and live in Northern Virginia with our three children. We volunteer at school, church, and with youth sports. We spend as little time as possible waiting in Tyson's Corner traffic.

We started coming back to The Valley years ago and found Massanutten to be the perfect weekend vacation spot for our family. This was something that I definitely did not anticipate as a ski instructor here in 1999.

We were very excited to purchase this home in the Summer of 2014, and have had fun preparing a great space to share with our friends and our guests.

Why they chose this property

We love the activities that Massanutten Resort provides, as well as the proximity to the endless opportunities for outdoor recreation in the Shenandoah Valley.

We love the look and feel of this house, but it's the outdoor space that makes it. Many of the lots at Massanutten are on fairly steep slopes and the outdoor space isn't as usable as we would like. We really wanted the kids to be able to play outside, and we knew right away that we could create an outdoor space here that our kids would love. This relatively level lot is one of the biggest in Massanutten, it backs to common space, and the house is set back at the end of a court.

What makes this property unique

There are tons of activities at Massanutten Resort and elsewhere in The Valley, but you don't even need to go anywhere to appreciate the outdoors from this home.

If you want to leave the house in the morning and come back at night, then you can stay anywhere. We like this place because our kids don't want to leave... and that means we can be more flexible when planning (or not planning) our days.
