About this property

Big Blue House - Near Forsyth Park - Lower, Big Blue House - Near Forsyth Park - Lower

One block from Savannah’s largest park, Forsyth, sits the Big Blue House. Our 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms can accommodate a family or group of friends. This listing is for the downstairs unit. There is an upper unit that we list separately.

This is for the lower unit. Everything in this unit is on one level. The kitchen table only seats 5 to 6 people. Please keep this in mind. If you are looking for a place you can cook and feed everyone you may want to inquire about the upstairs unit (prices do vary and the standard rate is a little higher).
If you need anything please call me. We provide toilet paper and paper towels to get you started, you may want to pick up some more if you plan on spending lots of time or cooking at the house.
Uber is very abundant in Savannah and is the best way to get to restaurants and tourist spots not in walking distance. We are close to several restaurants and there will be a binder at the house for you to see our recommendations.
Parking is on the street but please pay attention to the street sweep signs so you don't get a ticket.
The house is over a hundred years and sound does travel. There could be other guests staying upstairs. If any noise complaints arise please ask them to keep the noise down as we will ask them to do in return.
Please be considerate of the neighborhood and our neighbors.

Great location and amenities

We had a group of 6 adults head out for an adult weekend! This place was perfect! We were able to take a 1.5 mile and be in downtown Savannah and about a 30 minute drive to Tybee. We enjoyed being across from Forsyth Park as well! The house was great and had tons of charm!

Family Vacation in The Big Blue House

We came to Savannah so that I could run the Savannah Women's Half Marathon and also to have a family getaway. The house was perfect for us. Great location right off of Forsyth Park and plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed the house's character and charm and everyone had a great stay. We walked to River Street daily and also enjoyed just gathering in the living room to spend time together. Definitely recommend for families looking to spend quality time together in a comfortable home setting.

Great Rental

We were there at the beginning of June 2015. There were 5 of us, ranging from age 2 to 60+. The home was more than enough room for all of us. The beds were comfy. Parking is on the street, but free and we were able to park directly in front of the house everyday. Forsyth Park was a block away and we walked to grab dinner, because things were so close. There was street noise, but that should be expected in the older homes and it was easily remedied with a free white noise app.

Convenient, spacious, and comfortable

The downstairs rental was a perfect size for our family of four. The rental was clean, and easy to access. The owners assisted with the thermostat, when it wasn't set properly. The house is very close to Forsyth Park and a great location. There were other renters in the upstairs unit at the time, which the owners had let us know ahead of time. They were loud on Saturday evening, but manageable since the noise was not over our sleeping area. It was a very charming house and we appreciated the space during our stay. We were there in the third week of March 2021. Thank you. We would rent this unit again.

Perfect Historical Home for Family and Dog

What a beautiful Savannah home in a great location! The kitchen was stocked with plenty of cooking essentials, the bathrooms had good towels, and I had no difficulty with the AC either. Sadly there is very limited counter space throughout the entire home and noise travels quite easily, but this is nothing of the owner’s fault, simply how these old Savannah homes were built. The small fenced in “yard/patio” of sorts was also an absolute gem to have access to, especially when traveling with a dog! Would love to stay here again next we visit Savannah.

Our experience at The Big Blue House was great

My family and I enjoyed our 3 days at this house. Christie was very responsive to our needs and accommodated our request for a late check out. If you are staying around Savannah this is a great location near the park and not far from downtown.

A nice historic home

First, Christie was a pleasure to do business with. She left very detailed instructions. It was close to everything that we needed and if we did need to go some place and didn't feel like walking we took a $6 uber/lyft to river street. The house is very spacious. Very clean and neat. We appreciate the hospitality and will consider staying here again.

Perfect quiet location right next to Forsyth Park

This is a very good location, and perfect size rental for our family. We have two children, and my brother in law that stayed with us, and sleeping arrangements were ideal. If you are looking for a place with fast internet and lot of TV options, then this place isn't for you. If you want a quiet place, close to park, and easy to get around Savannah, then it is perfect. Thankfully, that's just what we wanted. I love the feel of the inside of the property, with good southern charm and old architecture. It is well maintained, and clean. Plenty of towels and pillows (a very good thing in my opinion). Also, very comfortable beds, with great drapery, and easy to sleep as long as you would want. Christie made things very simple prior to arriving and was very easy to check in and check out. She also let us know that there would be someone renting the upstairs of the house, and that if there was any problem to let her know. Little did we know, this was a bachelorette party. Thankfully, they didn't make any more noise than was expected, and with a fan on (that we always travel with), there was no interruption in our sleep or family time. So really, this is just for Christie, thank you for letting us know, and the noise was not an issue. The proximity to the park was amazing, and also a coffee shop within easy walking distance. Parking on the street was ample, and posed no problems. Overall, we would stay here again and enjoyed our time.

Perfect Place!

We so enjoyed our stay at the Big Blue House! Everything was just as described, tastefully decorated, and in a great location! Christie is an exceptional hostess and responed to any messages promptly. We had a party of 8, and everyone had plenty of room and slept comfortably. I would highly recommend this home. Thanks Christie!

Best Bachelorette Weekend Possible!!!

We stayed in the lower half of the Big Blue House and it was absolutely amazing! I read all the reviews before reserving and it's true this house is bigger than you could imagine for a 3 bedroom. The first room is the living room, every room is on the left throughout the long hallway that ends in the kitchen, then there's the first bedroom which has its own bathroom that connects to the hallway, the middle bedroom is HUGE! We had the max amount available for this house and we thought other than the queen bed in that room that it'd be a pull out couch that 2 girls would have to sleep on due to the pictures but to our surprise there was a day bed that had a second pull out bed underneath so every person has a bed!!! That bedroom and the last one share a bathroom. The kitchen is at the very end and the back door is to the patio, no body mentioned the patio in the reviews but it was big enough to park two cars just as a visual and it has a nice grill, we sat out there in the four chairs provided at night and just chatted. You definitely need to be cautious of the sound. I talked to Christie the first day to let her know that we had 2 more girls who were joining us but staying elsewhere for the night and she was ok with it, but warned us about the old neighbors who are trying anything in their power to get her vacation home taken away so be cautious. He will check at how many people are going into the house but we had no issues with the 10 girls as we left in groups to avoid any issues, he told some of our girls he "has a camera on his front porch next to ours" and apparently watches it, even though it faces the street and not our porch. His bedroom is near the front porch which is why YOU SHOULD NOT HANGOUT ON THE FRONT PORCH!!!! We played music in the living room and hung out before going out on Friday and there were no complaints. If you feel as though your party could be loud I highly recommend staying on the lower level than the upper, you can hear anyone upstairs pretty easily, just their causal conversations and walking cause it's an old house. There are 9 towels provided for the duration of your stay and enough toilet paper for all of us girls for the weekend. We did have to get a roll of paper towels and I brought trash bags. You are one block away from Forsyth park where on Saturdays they have a farmers market from 8-1pm in the park (amazing pastries!), you are about a 20 min walk to river st. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS OWNER AND THIS HOME!!!!

Great house

This house was great! Close enough to river street to walk but far enough to really feel like a Savannah resident! Was a 28 minute walk to river street and enjoyed the scenic route along the way. House was huge and comfortably slept 7 girls. Would defiantly stay here again.

Great house and great location!

Parking wasn't difficult near the house, unlike many well-located properties. This house is just a short walk to the fabulous Forsyth park and offered a great opportunity for our kids to get some 'crazies' out. The beds and other furnishings were high quality and comfortable. Though the dining space is small for a larger group we spent most of our time out of the house except in the evenings as we always like to check out local dining when we travel. Thanks for a great stay!

Spacious, quiet, and Conveniently located

A group of 7 of us, plus 1 baby, stayed at the big blue house in early April. It was wonderfully furnished, extremely comfortable, and perfect for our group. The 12 ft ceilings were amazing, as well as the original doors and other things that made the place feel "like home" away from home. There are plenty of pots/pans to use to cook with, and lots of other amenities. Forsyth park is right around the corner, and is beautiful. Downtown Savannah is a 5$ uber ride away. The neighborhood is quiet, until the street sweepers come through, but that only lasts a moment. There is a front porch area that faces the street, and while there isn't a door accessing it, or steps, there is a window that opens halfway to allow you to crawl out. We saw a "welcome" mat outside of the window, so we assumed this was the way to access it. There are no chairs out there, but we just grabbed the kitchen chairs to use as we enjoyed a few cocktails outside one evening... just make sure you put them back! I would highly recommend this venue. Great location, great building, great host.

Wonderful Weekend

This was a great property for our weekend. I stayed in the home with my husband, our two friends and there significant others. It's a great location and so accessible to everything. There was a small issue with the front toilet, but we were notified. The only complaint I really have is that the kitchen really was not equipped the way other rentals I have used have been. There was no toaster and limited coffee cups. I would stay here again!

Great location

Great location near Forsyth Park for group consisting of marathon runners and spouses (6 adults). New renovation in area and across the street. Great old downtown Savannah charm to this place. House split by floors, this rental being bottom floor entered on left when opening foyer. Had trouble with keys in locks on front door, lots of jiggling to get two locks to open. Can easily hear people walking upstairs, but not really an issue. Beds soft and comfy. Weather warm for early November and AC worked well. Some of interior doors between bedrooms & bathrooms do not latch / lock and shared bathroom door to back bedroom has to be blocked from inside bedroom to keep it closed. Latch does not work at all. Front bathroom toilet needs repair, as it does not flush or refill properly and you'll have to fill a large glass of water to assist in flushing. Kitchen poorly outfitted so make sure to bring own pots & pans unless for basic microwave cooking. Very few eating utensils, not enough for six adults. Had to get plastic utensils for meals. Enjoyed Keurig coffee maker, plenty of cups. Make sure to bring own plastic bags for kitchen garbage can, no extra provided. Also bring paper towels and extra toilet paper, as only one paper towel roll in kitchen provided and all bathrooms did not have extra paper rolls. We left extra of these items, purchased at local, close Kroger. No toaster included, but oven and microwave functioned well. Warned about dryer not turning off automatically but we could not get it to even heat, only air tumble. Not good for runners needing lots of washing and towels. Free street parking conveniently in front of house on two sides (corner lot) but watch for signs warning of street sweepers at certain times to avoid ticketing.

Good property overall

We were a group of 6 staying over for a long weekend. Everyone enjoyed the trip very much, but the following items need attention from the owner: Master bath toilet was broken and would not flush (the person using the room filled up a small cooler and dumped the water in the bowl to help it flush), The kitchen cabinets under the sink were heavily water damaged and need to be repaired (looked like a roach motel too), We had trouble with the lock on the outer front door to the point that we did not lock it (there was another lock on the inner front door), The A/C air filter was clogged to the point the unit was struggling to cool (we removed the old filter and all was fine).

Parlor great for evening family discussions and time together!

We enjoyed the parlor the most as it can seat many and is great for evening discussions. Beds and kitchen were a little old, but ample room for our party and old charm house. Owners were very accomodating to our early arrival. Parking right in front...sooo convenient.

We've lived in Savannah for over 10 years each. We still live downtown but decided to rent our place as a vacation rental because we want you to enjoy Downtown Savannah as much as we do.

Our 10 year old Wheaton/Westie mix rounds out our little family. He wants you to know that he loves walking through Forsyth and going to the dog park on Broad Street. He also loves vanilla ice cream from Leopold's and pizza crust at Vinnie Van Go-go's!

Why they chose this property

Our property was decorated to be comfortable for you and your family/friends. We have a large sectional sofa in the living room. We want you to relax when you're at our home and if that means laying on the couch and watching a movie then this is the right place for you!
