Great Location
Excellent location by the coast and view of the Connemara mountains. The only negative being for pet owners, to beware of the dogs at the adjoining property, if they are out of their cage they could attack your pet, as happened to ours.

A special and unique Connemara experience right on the sea
Really enjoyed the week in your charming cottage, it was just what we like, peaceful relaxing and full of character I would not change a thing . My nephew used the kayak, dogs had a great time and I brought my boat ,used the nearby slipway and went to sea most days , so all thoroughly enjoyable. Mary is absolutely delightful and we especially appreciated your lovely natural garden. We may be back next year. Many thanks Christopher Markes

House needs help
A lovely spot, but the house is not, by any means, in the shape to be let. The refrigerator is on 24/7, but our food spoiled. It doesn't chill. The clothes washer is so noisy, you can't be in the house when it runs. The dryer door is broken and won't stay shut, so the dryer is not usable. A burner on the stove (left/rear) is broken and unusable. The dishwasher didn't clean the dishes. There's no couch in the sitting room. The hot 'cold faucets in the bath basin were reversed: hot came out cold, cold came out hot. I took them apart and reversed the colors on the faucets. The lamp in the bedroom had a paper shade that was deteriorated, fell apart, and the metal frame was rusted and broken. The shower faucet kept falling off and almost broke my toe. The tub was incapable of being filled with hot water - the water was insufficient and ran out before the tub was hardly filled, unless you were a duck. The woman who brought us to the house told us we'd have to pay for heating the house!!!! In all the years I've done self-catering, I've never had a surcharge added for heating the house. Surely, that's part of the charge for the use of the house., which, for off season was quite dear - EU87 a night! This is a case of an owner squeezing out every penny while not being willing to update the services. The quality of accommodations offered in Ireland since it joined the EU has vastly improved, but I guess there are holdouts who take advantage of unsuspecting tourists and ruin the reputation of what is given in exchange for payment. It would be a lovely offering if the owner was willing to invest in updating her property.

Best view in Connemara
Our family stayed at this lovely home for a few nights during our 2 week holiday to Ireland. The cottage is quaint with it's traditional decor and lovely homey feel. Check in was a breeze and communication with the owner was great. The real clincher and the reason we will most certainly be back is the gardens around the property and the VIEW. Incredible. I wish we'd had more time to enjoy it! Thank you for hosting us!

Beautiful location!!
We enjoyed our time here and the location and view truly cannot be beat! To address some items mentioned in others reviews: When we got there there was a musty smell, as others have mentioned, but it did get better over our time there. The heat was off and it was extremely cold on our arrival, and I feel like living there and keeping it warmed up helped the situation. There is a small fishing operation off shore (3 rings) but in our opinion it doesn’t detract at all from the ambiance. It is really beautiful and we actually enjoyed seeing the activity. You do have to pay as you go for electric online. Not ideal, but also not a problem. We found it easy to figure out and spent €50 for our four day stay. We did laundry and were fairly liberal with the heat so it could have been less. All in all we enjoyed with our time here and got to know the neighbors who were super nice. It was a special experience and we will look back on it fondly. I addressed those few items because I remember reading about them in the reviews before we booked and appreciated when others spoke to those things impartially.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay, house was very clean and had all the amenities needed for our week long stay. There was an unexpected cost for electricity, which I was not aware of before booking. Place would also benefit from dehumidifier due to location close to water.

We loved it!
We stayed for a week and had the most wonderful time in this cozy cottage! It was beautiful to wake up at morning, seeing the fishermen already doing their work. Enjoy the rural and calm surroundings by foot or car. The home was very clean, kitchen is well-equiped and the stove provides cozyness and warmth in stormy nights! We would warmly recommend to stay at Jeanne‘s place, when traveling Connemara the laid-back way! We felt like home right away and would definitely come back! Wonderful, relaxing stay! Things to do and Towns to see see in the area or further: Clifden, Roundstone, Galway, Boattrip to the Aran Islands or Inishbofin, Ballynahinch Castle, Hike up Diamond Hill, Kylemore Abbey & Gardens and many more (consult the brochures in the house for more tipps!)

Lovely location
The location on the waters edge is enchanting and it's a quaint, relaxed house. Jeanne, the owner, was easy to communicate with, and was very understanding of a change we had to make in our schedule. Also, the people who are the "next door" neighbors are very kind and helpful. And there is a nice restaurant a short drive away.

The location of the house was enjoyed by the whole family! The 3 youngest loved being able to go straight down to the sea when returning from excursions when the weather allowed! We took advantage of the wooden chairs in the garden in the evening: a good beer, a good book, a good jacket with hood and what a pleasure to watch the sun set behind the clouds or the Errisbeg Mountain (which we climbed with the four children)! We found the seclusion and calm that we wanted to experience in Connemara. We took advantage of the proximity of the very good and friendly restaurant "Glynsk House" (7 min by car). In short, an excellent stay!

Alles in allem absolut keine angenehme Wohnatmosphäre!

Nice location
The house is situated right on the beach in a very quiet area with beautiful views. It's the place to be if you're looking for peace and solitude. Everything in the house is nicely done and is furnished with everything necessary. Only in the kitchen a few old cooking utensils (e.g. frying pans) could be replaced. Jeanne is very friendly and will help if needed.

very nice view, lovely - wundervolle Aussicht
Freundliche Nachbarhunde laufen frei herum. Hügelige Moorlandschaft. Mückenschutz wird empfohlen

A gem of a property
A wonderful property! The house is lovely and exactly as described and pictured. It has everything one could possibly need. Jeanne is a super host - she responds rapidly, is absolutely dependable, very friendly and helpful. Spectacular area with very friendly people. Great property to relax, spend time on the small beach (to which one has direct access from the garden) and as a base from which to explore the surrounding area. The garden is also a treat! We love this property! Thank you Jeanne!

Lovely house in a spectacular area
The house is exactly as described and pictured. We did a longer stay here and we love it! The house is well stocked with everything you could need. The stove in the livingroom was on every evening and gives off a lovely, cosy warmth. The view is spectacular and the large garden an absolute pleasure! You have direct access to a small piece of beach - absolutely beautiful and a real treat! Comminication with Jeanne is excellent and uncomplicated. She is very friendly and quick to react to any questions or requests. Barbara is also very friendly, ready to assist and will be there if her help is needed. One thus has total privacy but all the help you could ask for, should you need it. The house runs on a 'pay as you go' electricity system. It is well described and easy to use. Worked well for us. Carna is a short car drive away and has a few local shops where you can purchase some daily necessities. Lovely restaurant in Carna and also nearby Glynsk House. The house and property are quiet, one is surrounded by nature and it is a wonderful base to explore the stunning surrounding area from. We thoroughly enjoy everything this lovely property has to offer! Thank you so much Jeanne!

What a disappointment!
We stayed at the Waterfront cottage from August 14, 2021 to August 21, 2021. Based on the good reviews (excellent!) and the reasonably high price by Irish standards, we thought we had booked the ideal accommodation. But what a disappointment! Pro Nice view, beautiful private garden and is located in a beautiful area. Con (some points, see also other reviews!) The entire cottage is damp and smells horrible. Not all can’t be ventilated away. Especially in the smallest double bed room and the entrance room. The carpeting in the entire cottage is covered with stains and in the two single bed room where a lot of hairs which couldn’t be cleaned. The kitchen has charm, but can use a good intensive cleaning. We couldn't get the washing machine to work (no water). The linings of the curtains in the living room have various holes and tears. The double bed (largest room) is good. The second double you will feel the springs. The two single beds are just bad. The old bathroom doesn’t meet the current requirements. Some points are: no sufficient ventilation, dirty carpet and gets wet in the corner of the shower. Which is resulting in wood-rot of the bath cladding. Possible due to the previous points, woodlice and worms (health risk and also mentioned in an earlier review!). A mouldy tiling shower, a non-working Jacuzzi and a boiler capacity for just two quick showers (will only fill the bath for about half). See for comparison on Vrbo: “Family & animal friendly house located on a working Hillside Sheep Farm” County Kerry / Cahirciveen. We rented this house in August 2019 and this house is in perfect condition. This house is in 2021 even less than 80% of de cost we paid for the Waterfront cottage. Due to the additional costs of the Waterfront cottage. Sorry there is no more room for more comparisons. Our conclusion The Waterfront cottage gives you poor value for your money. Especially for Ireland. And the quality offered is questionable. That's why the Waterfront cottage gets just one star from us. The owner can, like with other reviews, downplay or even deny things. But what benefit does a former tenant have in giving a critical review? Our goal is only to give a fair picture, so that a future tenant knows what to expect. Worth mentioning The cottage was not ready on arrival. (miscommunication between owner and new house keeper) But this is well solved by the house keeper.

Unique stay
In all of my years of travel, this ranks as the most unique stay. We stayed 2 weeks, the beauty of the area is stunning- 5-star view from the living room and just about every room in the house has stunning views with large picture windows. Surrounded by well-maintained beautiful landscaping. It's also very private, as you have your own separate gate to enter the property. The back entrance has a nook that came in very handy, as it can get really windy and it is a perfect place to hang out and block the wind. The living room is the highlight of the property with the most stunning views. There is a TV there and a fireplace with plenty of chairs to sit around in and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. it's worth noting that there is a VCR but it is not working. I would suggest bringing a device to stream Netflix, etc though you do have a handful of local channels. The kitchen does have a dishwasher and just about anything you can. think of that you might need to cook meals, including microwave, stove and burner top. It's packed with cookware, glasses, etc. The bathroom was adequate and has a jet tub (we never used it) and a stand-up shower. all 3 bedrooms had acceptable beds in them, though we only used 2 of the 3 bedrooms, the beds were pretty comfortable. We found the food options to be outstanding in the area and I highly recommend, (the best fish and chips we've had in all of Europe too, ordering any seafood you desire from) O' Flaherty's Connemara Seafood Chowder. His restaurant was pick up only when we were there but it is only about 15 minutes from the house. He also offers pick up or delivery of fresh lobster, scallops, prawns, a variety of fish, and much more caught locally for an insanely fair price, large lobster tails were only 12 Euros for example. About 7 minutes from the house is the Glynsk House. This quickly turned into our favorite place to dine in during our stay. We did find that the place was not as clean as we expected it but that's really my only complaint. The place is set up to pay for your own electricity and we spend about $120 Euros for the 2 weeks, hardly running the heater at all but doing laundry and hang drying the clothes. I would suggest some dehumidifiers if moisture bothers you, as it can get damp inside due to being so close to the water. Definitely would recommend and loved the area, plenty to do around you within 30-60 minute drive. So much more to say but out of characters to use :)
