Not what we expected after reading the reviews this villa got

Disappointed with this property. We booked this villa because of the good reviews it had on VRBO. The Villa needs updating. It smelled damp inside. It seemed very dark inside the Villa. The pools filtering system didn't work the pool never looked clean and inviting. The pool area we had to brush everyday and clean the leaves out of the pool. On a windy day the leaves were everywhere. The Villa was close to the supermarket, a bakery and a McDonald's. It was a good 20 minute walk to the train station and beach which was difficult in the heat. We used a lot of taxis to get about. We were disappointed overall with the Villa itself. We would not recommend to stay in this property.

Very nice house and lovely owners

We visited this property with the whole family and had a very good time. Reception from the owners couldn't have been better. Chantal and Gilbert were really lovely people to meet.

Another fabulous two weeks

This was our second year in a row at Gilbert and Chantal's lovely property. We cannot fault it as the owners are charming and are fully available for any query. Their son comes to clean the pool and check on us regularly. The house has everything one needs and made even more attractive by close proximity to shops and facilities. We will return!

Fantastic Villa and vacation

We were a family of 6 adults and had the pleasure of staying at this gorgeous property for 14 days in August. I have included some comments which were made by another visitor as our feelings were the same. We received a very warm welcome from Gilbert and Chantel who were so pleasant and very patient with us as our French was not that great but we managed. They had provided us with a cooked meal and some refreshments in the fridge, which we were grateful for. We had beautiful sunny, hot weather and spent most of our time outside. The pool area is spacious with 8 sun loungers and it gets sunshine all day. It was a very welcome site when we would arrive back from visiting several other places on the French Riviera as it was so refreshing. The large outside terrace with barbeque, large table area to seat 8, 2 sun loungers and a soft seating area was fantastic. The Villa was more impressive in person than the pictures of the website. It had a beautiful living area with dining table. The kitchen was great and very well equipped - induction hob, oven, microwave, american fridge freezer, coffee machine, steamer .... the list is endless and the owners have thought of everything. With a vast collection of glassware and crockery and serving plates we really didn`t want for anything. The BBQ (charcoal) was excellent and we used that for all of our cooking. There was had a bedroom and bathroom downstairs with the 3 others upstairs and this suited our party perfectly. There is a well equipped supermarket and pharmacy 2mins away. With a great Boulangerie, fruit and vegetable shop and the new Polygone Riviera shopping centre around the corner. The train station is 15/20mins walk but there is a bus stop 5mins away. The transportation system is very punctual and the only tip I would give is if you are waiting for the bus you have to put your hand up to let the driver know you want it to stop and pick you up. We come from a place that if there are people at a stop the bus stops to see if anyone is using that route. The Airport was 10/15mins in a taxi and the beach 30mins walk or you can avail of the bus. We were thoroughly pleased with our stay, as it exceeded our expectations. Merci beaucoup Herbert and Chantel

perfect holiday

We traveled as a party of 3 families - all adults with the exception of a baby and had the pleasure of staying at this gorgeous property for 10 days in June. The Villa is absolutely beautiful and is spotlessly clean. Our arrival was delayed until quite late in the evening but the lovely owners Gilbert and Chantal, were there to greet us and even left us a beautiful meal with some wine and beer and some provisions for the next morning which were greatly appreciated. In daylight we could appreciate the Villa and its beautifully maintained gardens and pool area. We were lucky to have great weather and spent most of our time outside. The pool area is spacious with 8 sun loungers and it gets sunshine all day. Although the pool was a little cold it was a great size and used daily when we were at the Villa and enjoyed by all even the non swimmers. The large outside terrace with barbeque, large table area to seat 8, 2 sun loungers and a soft seating area was fantastic. There is also another area between the Villa and the pool with an outside kitchen, WC, & shower, along with table tennis, mini football, and a swing. Internally the Villa is beautiful, typically French and has everything you could want. A fantastic living area with dining table. The kitchen great and very well equipped - induction hob, oven, microwave, american fridge freezer, coffee machine, steamer .... the list is endless and the owners have thought of everything. With a vast collection of glassware and crockery and serving plates we really didn`t want for anything. We had a bedroom and bathroom downstairs with the others upstairs and this suited our party perfectly. Another plus for us were the little extras that were thought about for the baby ie. high chair, cot, baby rocker ... these were all in the Villa and again spotlessly clean and enjoyed by little Louis. There is a well equipped supermarket and pharmacy 2mins away. With a great Boulangerie, fruit and vegetable shop and the new Polygone Riviera shopping centre around the corner. The train station is 15/20mins walk but there is a bus stop 5mins away. The Airport was 10/15mins in a taxi and the beach 30mins walk. There are lots of Tourist info leaflets at the Villa. We had an amazing holiday which was in part due to this beautiful Villa and cannot recommend it enough and look forward to returning.

Excellent

We were very impressed by the Villa. It was well maintained, beautifully furnished and had everything we needed there. It was very stylish and homely. We would certainly like to visit again and would recommend it to anyone. We were greeted by the hospitable owners who had left the fridge full for us with all we needed to start our stay, and showed us around, which was very much appreciated. It was easy positioned for getting around the area.

Relaxing and strategic place to stay

We have spent - myself any my friends/family - in this house beautifull 3 weeks. The position near by supermarket and the road apeared to be rather advantage than not. The place was thanks to its situation and nice garden very quite and all over the it is also strategic for making trps. Thank you for nice holiday, Majones:-). Milan Masa

Great stay in Cagnes-sur-mer

Could not fault this place. Lovely property, large and well maintained pool, good air-conditioning, great welcome from the hosts with home made food in the fridge for us, and all facilities you could wish for. Short walking distance to supermarket, bakery, wine shop and upscale shopping centre. Mosquitoes were an issue in the outside areas in the evenings, but those are hard to avoid at this time of year (July). Highly recommended!

It does not get any better!

I will be short only because I wish to come back every year for the rest of my life. And I don't want this incredible gem to be too full to accommodate us! But in fairness, this house is the best house I have ever stayed in, rented, or fantasized about. I have lots of professional and personal experience and this house is honestly the best EVER! Location, comfort, spirit, convenience, detail - it is impeccable. The layout is so ideal and the grounds so amazing. The house itself? Gosh, it is perfection, I keep threatening my french husband that I will not leave! This is OVER 5-star.

Beautiful and elegant

Beautiful French home in the south of France on the cote d’azur. The house is beautiful, it’s very elegantly furnished and decorated with a lot of taste. Fully equipped and with full amenities. It is very comfortable for eight people and the beds are great. The house is situated in a very nice area, walking distance from everything you would need for groceries, shopping and or dining so you can fully enjoy the French lifestyle. Parking space is available for at least two cars and maybe three inside the property. The swimming pool is a very nice size and it is surrounded by an activity area with ping-pong or Foosball. And the owners are extremely friendly and care about their guests. I would love to go back.

Wonderful property for families in great location

We could not have asked for more from the owners of this wonderful home in Cagnes sur Mer. Our welcome included a refrigerator filled with treats and refreshments, which were very much appreciated by all members of our family. My eldest daughter was able to reconnect with her Parisian friend, and we visited many sights from this location to include Biot, Antibes, Haut de Cagne, Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, St. Paul de Vence, Vence and Pont du Loop. My son-in-law spent a day at Monte Carlo as well. Wonderful spacious comfortable home with warm and welcoming hosts. Thank you Gilbert, Chantal and Fabrice for your warm hospitality.

A lovely week in the South of France

My husband and our 9 month old stayed at this beautiful property from May 12-May 19th, 2019 and we had a lovely week. Our hosts Gilbert and Chantal couldn’t be sweeter, they met us at the property and showed us around and explained things. And even put a few little welcome snacks and a bottle of Rosè in the fridge. The house is beautiful and has that Provence charm of a rustic French villa. It was definitely very big for the 2 of us and baby but we liked the pool and the beautiful terrace so decided to stay here anyway. If you have a bigger family or even a couple of families travelling together it’s perfect. We would love to return with our parents some time and when baby gets a bit bigger to enjoy the pool. Definitely recommend this property, it is well taken care of, is well stocked with everything you would need to make nice dinners and have a comfortable stay. The supermarket nearby was a huge bonus and had everything we needed to make fresh breakfasts and dinners. Excellent place to stay!

Fantastique

La maison,le terrain ,la piscine et la famille Major sont très chaleureux. Rien ne manque dans la cuisine pour préparer nos repas. Les lits sont confortables et par ce temps de canicule nous avons grandement apprécié l’air climatisé présente dans toutes les pièces de la maison. Même le frigo était rempli de belles salades et de boissons. Merci à cette belle famille de nous prêter leur maison afin de pouvoir découvrir cette belle région de la France.

Amazing villa and very nice owners

We stayed at this beautiful villa for a week at the end of June and had a great time. The villa is very tastefully done with all amenities thought of. We had ample lot of space for a group of 4 adults and 3 kids. Kids had a great time in the pool and the game tables outdoors. Adults enjoyed the coziness and the comfort of the house, the well appointed interiors, nice and relaxing patio and a kitchen that has everything you would need to cook and serve a party of 7 and more. The location is very convenient too - there is a supermarket just a few minutes walk away and an amazing bakery a few more minutes away. It was also very easy to get to different places of interest in the French Riveria by road from the villa. And the best of it is that the owners - Chantal, Gilbert and their son are very hospitable and friendly. They seem to be very well travelled and hence even though we did not speak French, we did not have much trouble understanding each other. Thanks a lot Chantal and Gilbert for having us at your beautiful villa, we all had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay during our vacation.

A hidden gem, private yet centrally located, rustique house, ideal for two families

We were two families with four children staying in this truly magnificent stone-house for a week in mid-June 2018. The owners are truly lovely people who took very well care of us, and we were welcomed by assorted fruits, bread, sodas, and even a cake! The beds are new and really comfortable, and there is enough space for 8-9 people. The air-conditioning system worked like a charm and is very useful in the warm climate. The house is situated in a private back-street in central Cagnes-sur-Med, but within 2-5 minutes walking distance from a big supermarket, a big shopping mall and the most FANTASTIC bakery we have ever seen. The house and the pool are clean and tidy and we cooked all our meals (except lunches when we went on excursions) in the spacious kitchen using the out-door barbecue as much as we could. The only regret we have is not being able to stay longer. We will definitely come back soon! NB! Beware of the mosquitos, they are aggressive and there are many of them!!!

Spending holidays in this house makes lucky

If you can spend your holiday in this house, you are lucky! We spent 10 wonderful days with our family (6 adults, 2 teenagers) in late summer (Sep-Oct). What does it matter, this house? First and foremost the hosts! Chantal and Gilbert greet you with a warm-heartedness and personality that you rarely find. The house and the garden were presented to us with great care for our guests. Both of them had filled us the fridge with a feast, so that we didn't have to feed ourselves for the first evening, all kinds of drinks were also in stock!! The furnishings are more than sufficient, there is no shortage of crockery at all, high-quality furnishings, and a touch of personal touch, which quickly makes you feel at home. There are several bathrooms and toilets, we never had "jams" in bathrooms. The bedrooms are also equipped with high quality furnishings and offer plenty of storage space. The living area is very spacious and of high quality furnishings, where we have stayed almost only on the various terraces and by the pool. These are simply cosy and you can stay between the lounge area and the classic terrace area. The pool has been cleaned several times as if by ghost hand, without us being disturbed. Perfect. Farewell was very difficult for us... We very much like to think back to the house and especially the lovable hosts.

Location superbe

Accueil très chaleureux des propriétaires. Frigo bien garni pour notre arrivée (même le premier repas). Maison superbe où il ne manque rien (comme chez soi). Best holiday ever

As we were two couples with small children and two couples without, we Were looking for a big and private house in wich we could barbeque and relax. This house was exactly that and more! Nice rooms, great barbeque area, great pool and extremely gratious hosts. We are coming back.

A perfect house for the big family vacation

Superbe, Fantastique , Honète

Nous étions environs 9 personnes dont 3 enfants pendant 12 jours dans cette magnifique maison. Amour du détail propreté bien équipée ce logement est ideal . Chantal et Gilbert forment un couple délicieux qui ne disent que la vérité. Ils aiment leur maison construite par leur mains et ils aiment que l'on aime leur maison. Bien située proche d'un Casino bien désservi cette calme maison avec sa grande et limpide piscine ne laisse rien à désirer. Nous y reviendrons plus que certainement.

Aeusserst charmant, super Lage und Einrichtung

Haus und Garten (vollständig umzäunt, daher ideal auch mit Kindern) mit viel Charme, sehr sauber, mit allem ausgerüstet was man sich nur wünschen kann, gemütliche Sitzecken draussen wie auch drinnen, Küche extrem gut eingerichtet und die Besitzer habe ich sofort ins Herz geschlossen. Es ist nun zum 2. Mal, dass ich hier bin und es ist wirklich toll, es stimmt hier einfach alles. Zudem ist das Haus ziemlich ruhig gelegen und umgeben von Bäumen (und Vogelgezwitscher) und trotzdem sehr zentral gelegen. Super Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und auch alle sehenswerten Orte sind nicht weit. In Cagnes-sur-Mer sehr zu empfehlen ist das Haus von "Renoir" in seinem wunderschönen Park mit uralten Olivenbäumen. Ich werde sehr gerne wiederkommen und Chantal und Gilbert sind beide einfach wunderbar. Merci beaucoup et à bientôt. Danielle und Carolina
