Newly restored to it's 1920 grandeur, this free standing carriage house can sleep 4 in the lower apartment . (The upstairs sleeps 4 as well.) Easy walk to Balboa Park and San Diego's finest restaurants. Located between downtown and Hillcrest. As photos show, no expense spared!
The Carriage House, comprised of two separate rentable units, combines the best of both worlds—location and amenities. Its tranquil courtyard creates a quiet oasis in the center of Park West, San Diego's hippest neighborhood, adjacent to Balboa Park. The Carriage House lower unit offers two bedroom and two bath retreats. In deference to our neighbors, the space is never rented for parties. 2 night minimum on weekends. 11.05% occupancy tax included.
Free laundry room and private courtyard. This is a friendly residential area and we would ask that you respect our neighbors' tranquility.

The price charged was almost 1000 dollars more than the listing on Vrbo. I asked the owner, but never received an answer to this question. It is a great place to stay and I do not want to take away from the house, however I will pay closer attention to the price charged vs the listing price. The host was very responsive to questions. It is very clean and has the older carriage house feel, very nice.
Great location. Quiet, even with the construction down the street. Perfect layout. Large living room, dining room, and the 2 bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect, as well. Great decor, too.

We drove down from NoCalif to meet up with my sister and husband fleeing the Boston winter. "The Carriage House" was perfect for us.. 2 identical bedrooms each with an en suite bathroom. The shared space-- open kitchen, dining table and living room. French doors opened to the gracious outdoor patio with lush vegetation. The flat was well-appointed and very comfortable. Clearly great attention was paid to the decor and furnishings. Communicating with our hosts was also easy both while reserving and during our stay. Another very special feature is the location.. in the pleasant Banker's Hill neighborhood, each home with unique architecture, it was easy walking distance to Balboa Park with several museums, gardens and restaurants. Our accommodations and San Diego visit was as good as it could be!! Definitely one for the "rolodex" and a repeat visit!
The Carriage House was an incredible stay. We were there for 7 nights and felt like we were coming home every time we returned. Hard to find a nicer place in San Diego. The location and ease to get anywhere we wanted made for an easy week of travel and dining! Thank you for such a wonderful stay and experience!!!

The Carriage House is a beautiful place to stay!
Although our stay was short (only 2 nights), we absolutely loved the carriage house! Very convenient location close to the Zoo and many museums and places to eat. We would stay there again the next time we visit San Diego!
We loved it! The property was clean, quiet, and spacious (including the outdoor patio). Lovely location in Banker’s Hill, with the 3, 11, and 120 bus routes (running uptown towards Hillcrest or downtown towards the Gaslamp Quarter) just a block or two away. The hosts were very attentive. We’ll be back!
We loved our stay here. The location is wonderful within an easy walk to Balboa Park and a longer walk to downtown. Quit neighborhood with easy parking. The double suites were perfect for my friend and I. I highly recommend it.
This place is adorable. We enjoyed the courtyard and comfy indoor area. Dining in the local area was fabulous and all in walking distance. Balboa park was closer than i thought. Walked 20 miles in 2 days. We will be back. Hosts were accommodating and communication was exceptional.

A wonderful & unique property in an ideal location. Comfortable, quiet, clean, and well-equipped. Easy walk to Balboa Park and many lovely bars & restaurants. The host was very accomodating. Basically, it was perfect.
Property is very conveniently located to I5, 163. Just a few minutes to Coronado and Airport. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, etc. Upscale decorated.
Overall we enjoyed our stay here. We had a few minor issues like a smoke detector that kept going off when no smoke was present and finding a parking space on the street near the unit, but the property was well maintained and very close to Balboa Park. There were some great restaurants within walking distance. Communication with the host was great, with quick responses when we had questions.
Charming, cozy, and just like the photos—this downstairs cottage was clean, comfortable, and warmly inviting. The layout is efficient, with a well-equipped kitchen, large dining table, and an incredibly comfortable living area perfect for relaxing, especially with the lush courtyard doors open. The host was responsive and helpful. A few suggestions: the beds could be more comfortable, kitchen utensils feel pieced together over time, and small amenities like tissues, lotion, and extra supplies were a bit limited. Footsteps from the upstairs rental are occasionally audible, and nearby construction made parking tricky, but the charm of the space made up for it. We truly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely return—just a few small upgrades would take this lovely rental to the next level.
