About this property

Charmingly converted barn with pool in the Garonne Valley in a 2acre garden

This romantic 200 year old farmhouse is situated in a beautiful 3 acre garden, surrounded by ancient oak trees and sunflower fields. There is an 11mx5m swimming pool with several sitting areas to choose from, some in the shade and some in the sun. The old barn (110m²), attached to the farm where we live, has been beautifully renovated into a very well equipped apartment on two levels, having its own car park, shaded patio for barbecues and is equipped to sleep 6 people comfortably. The house is ideal for a family holiday, as there is plenty of space for children in the garden ( table-tennis, badminton, petanque, pool, ..) or suitable for a quiet holiday amongst adults (walks along the canal or in the Pyrenees mountains, Toulouse-Lautrec museum in Albi, medieval town of Carcassonne, lazing by the pool).

Guest book comments: 'Thank you for a Wonderful time. This has been a perfect place to relax. After a long drive, we were so happy to settle into a beautifully decorated house prepared for us, along with a cool bottle of wine. We will be happy to recommend this holiday to friends and family'
Charles, Susan, Jonathan and Jennifer.
'Thank you so much for a wonderful last week of our holiday in France. The house was the most comfortable and family friendly one we've stayed in and the pool was such a draw that Charlie has grown fins !'
Mandy, Andrew, Tom and Charlie.
'We've had a wonderful week, all your hard work in making this home beautifully comfortable has not gone unnoticed ! Thank you most sincerely once again - the best holiday we've had abroad for a long time.'
Penny, Alex, Sophie, Benjamin and Janet.
' Le Mayrinet is a great place to relax and be lazy by the pool, a beautiful apartment and very helpful hosts !! Thanks again for a superb time !'
Paul, Kathie and Maya.

Golf: The region is fantastic for golfing all the year round, however, May, June, September and October, are really excellent periods of the year for golfing in this region (nice weather, not too hot and not too many people on the courses). There are numerous golf courses in the region to suit all standards of golfer. Seilh International Golf Course is the closest, being 20 minutes away, which has two 18 hole golf courses, one International Standard and one PAR 64, which is ideal for higher handicappers. Other courses which should not be missed are:- Albi Lasbordes (1h15), fantastic course AND fantastic food ! (actually my personal favourite course in the region), Teoula (40mins) good course and good food. You can find more details of these courses by checking 'guide des golfs', 'nom', and then type the name of each course to find all relevant information. However, if you need any further information, please don't hesitate to contact me. I know the courses (and others), as I'm a golfer too !

A relaxing week away in rural France
Le Mayrinet is a rural gite and was much as we expected. It is situated about a 20 minute drive away from Verdun-en- Garonne where there are two supermarkets with everything you need for your stay. However if you are looking for lots to do, then expect to have to drive some distance! All we wanted to do was relax after a long journey through France in our Vintage car and therefore the gite was perfectly situated for us. Kevin welcomed us and showed us around the property emphasising that if there was anything we needed just to get in touch. After 24 hours we had made the house our home finding all the equipment we needed for our stay. Every evening we ate outside as we were lucky to have dry, warm weather other than on the first day of our stay when it rained. Although I hadn't appreciated it from the description of the property, the shower room with the second toilet is on the ground floor but this wasn't a problem for us. The "master" bedroom is spacious, the children's room is small as is the second bedroom. We had travelled with our son, daughter in law and 9 year old grandaughter and there was room enough for the five of us. Doubtless the star of the show is the pool - it is a rare find in gites like this and we have stayed in many! It gets the sun all day and there are sunbeds for everyone. We spent many hours relaxing around the pool, playing table tennis and soaking up the sun. In summary, if you want to stay in a peaceful rural location in a traditionally rustic French gite, then Le Mayrinet could be what you are looking for. There are fruit trees in the garden and many birds visit. However if you want a modern property, with fast internet and lots to do every day then you may need to look elsewhere!!

Lagraulet-Saint-Nicolas Le Mayrinet
Our welcoming host Kevin was on hand to show us round the property, It’s a peaceful, quiet location away from the crowds so if you’re after a relaxing time it’s perfect. Fairly large grounds surround the gite so you can wander and watch the birds or play games (hide and seek and footy golf were firm favourites with our kids lol) BBQs are a must on the patio, but the star of the show is the excellent pool area where we spent a lot of time. It is shared with the owner (who was very discreet in the time we were both there) but we were lucky enough to have it to ourselves whilst he was travelling away for the majority of our stay. It’s kid friendly with an alarm for potential fall ins so perfect for the little ones. You can also travel to nearby Toulouse etc so there are days out to be had, we recommend Animaparc for young kids. Only 15 mins away (picnic friendly to avoid the queues for food as the snack bar wasn’t the quickest) Fab couple of weeks and highly recommend the owner and property.

Little paradise
Kevin was an excellent host,he was very helpful throughout, from booking to arrival. He explained everything clearly on the first day. The gite was well equipped , spacious ,comfortable and clean. We used the terrace and bbq everyday , made he most of the hammock ( very peaceful for afternoon nap), ping pong table , pétanque and rackets. The property is very peaceful and quiet. But the best thing about it, is the pool, great size ,child friendly ,so much that the kids grew gills! We particularly loved swimming at night ( lights off) under the stars. We will be coming back Thank you again for a wonderful two weeks Sophie and Jeremy

Lovely pool away from it all
Kevin is a pleasant and welcoming host who responded quickly to queries and was very helpful in alerting us to a night market one night. The star of this holiday is the pool and garden, which is lovely, and we had it to ourselves for the whole week. The accommodation is tastefully decorated and cool in hot weather. It is also well supplied with soap, loo roll, dishwasher tabs, washing powder etc. A downside is that it smells of damp. Some details listed are out of date, notably you are a good 10 min drive from shops or restaurants as the local shop closed some time back. (NB there is a supermarket open on sunday mornings but nothing for sunday evening, although in the summer season, Chez Annie does open on sunday eves - ignore trip advisor). 'Pool towels' were hand towels, the bunk bed room is just those and not in addition to 2 singles, and 'pantry items' is oil, tea, coffee, salt and pepper. This is a rural location, so a lovely get-away-from-it-all retreat. Other than local markets (there is a very helpful list in the gite with at least one every day) and Animaparc (good for younger children) you are looking at 30-60mins+ drive to get to things to do other than local walks. Toulouse (most of an hour into the centre) offers many opportunities though, we can thoroughly recommend the Natural history museum, Cite de l'espace and Musee des Agustins for starters.

Idyllic Sanctuary Away From It All
Le Mayrinet hosted us for ten wonderful days, and we left it wishing we could have added at least another ten. Good wine needs no bush, so here are three of the umpteen good reasons for visiting: - A cozy, well-furnished house, a big pool and a spacious garden surrounded by trees (plus more figs and plums than you'll be able to eat in one summer). The location has all the trappings of a sanctuary. - The warm hospitality of Kevin and his son William, who have a talent for making you feel at ease and at home from the moment you arrive. - The undulating landscape of the Garonne and all it has to offer: marvelous sights, smells and taste to children and adults alike. Allez-y!

Lovely, relaxing place
We had a lovely time here. The house is beautifully decorated, the pool is great and the gardens are really nice. Kevin, the owner, is extremely helpful and can give you tips on the best places to go and where the best markets are, etc. We would love to go back.

Nice private gite, rural location.
Gite has been nicely refurbished and was well equipped. Essentially clean although chandeliers and blinds very dusty. Very rural and quiet location however it is attached to owners property who entertained whilst we were there and sons played music throughout day. Lovely pool area and garden.

Lovely cottage with very nice swimming pool
We stayed at Le Mayrinet for one week in July 2015, at the start of our holiday. The cottage has two nice bathrooms and with three bedrooms, both of our children had their own bedroom. We all slept very well in the comfortable beds and you will find all you need in and around the cottage. The weather was hot that week, and we really enjoyed the large swimming pool and played table tennis every day. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner under the shaded terrace and our children liked calling the peacock that seemed to have settled down at Le Mayrinet for a little holiday. We visited the countryside with the many sunflowers, and towns like Carcassonne, Auvillar, had dinner in Cologne. Also the Château de Laréole was a nice day out and St. Antonin-Noble-Val, Cordes-sur-Ciel and the Cloistre in Moissac are places you must see. The Labyrinthe de Merville is not recommended if you and your children do not read and write French very well, it is impossible to walk through the labyrinth and not cheap. Thank you Kevin for the lovely stay and for your hospitality!

A Jewel in the French Countryside
We are coming to the end of a 4month stay in this wonderful Gite . Kevin has been excellent going out of his way to make our stay very comfortable and going beyond his call of duty .We arrived to a lit fire and wine in the fridge that was very welcoming after a long journey. The Gite was very clean and has everything you need for an enjoyable self catering holiday , the beds are very comfortable and the décor has been done to a very high standard .There is plenty to do with Ping-Pong , cycling and the lovely large swimming pool. and some nice walks on the door step We have enjoyed some local restaurants Chez Annie in Cox is very good and their Plat de Jour is so reasonable , we will miss our weekly visits there , another restaurant which has just opened in Bernard de la Lomange called La Maison des Lumieres is more up market with very good food . We got most of our provisions from the local markets Cadours , Bernard de la Lomange , Grenade and Moissac which is a bit further away but well worth a visit as there is a lovely walk by the canal and river . We would definitely recommend this property for a relaxing enjoyable place to stay for a visit to the Garonne Valley ..

Fantastic holiday accommodation. Pool is divine
Our family of 5 including 2 teenage boys spent a marvellous two week stay at Le Mayrinet. Kevin was very welcoming and was on hand when we needed to give us great suggestions as to where we might visit and recommendations for trips and eating out. The house is very clean and comfortable and very nicely decorated and had everything we needed. The beds in particular are very comfortable give great sleeps. The swimming pool, bicycles, ping pong table and badminton all provided great entertainment and variety at home. The area is very quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed good walks in the picturesque countryside nearby. Lots of villages and towns closeby within a short (15-30 minute) driving time and Montaubaun and Toulouse both accessible within 40-50 minutes of the holiday home. We also enjoyed a visit to a local night market in Cadours on our last night. A really lovely holiday. Highly recommended

Brilliant house, brilliant holiday
From the top, the place isn't too hard to find, and Kevin and his family were very helpful with everything we wanted. The facilities in the house are great with plenty of space and occupations for when it got too hot to stay outdoors. The garden is lovely and the pool was excellent and (almost always) pristinely clean. The area was quiet and peaceful, perfect for getting away from it all. Although the house is a 15/20min drive from the nearest proper town, Verdun has a good supermarket and several bakeries and general stores. The nearby train station can take you into Montauban (well worth a day shopping) and Toulouse fairly quickly. A car is a must though. And without transport the immediate local area does not provide much for younger or more adventurous types. I would definately stay here again.

Simply Wonderful
Our family of 5 spent a most wonderful summer holiday at this beautiful home. Kevin gave us a very warm welcome and was always very helpful; a perfect host. The house was cosy, comfortable, charmingly decorated and well equipped. The vast garden has beautiful views and scenic spots to enjoy the surrounding countryside. The facilities to do various sport was very much appreciated; our highlight was the pool and playing tennis in a nearby village. Le Mayrinet is conveniently located for discovering various regions in the Southwest of France, all rich in cuisine, culture, architecture, history and landscape. The market in Grenade was a delight! We highly recommend this holiday home and hope ourselves to go back in the future.

A relaxed holiday in a lovely house.
Everything was exactly as we imagined at le Mayrinet - a lovely house with everything we needed in a beautiful part of France. Although there was plenty to do in the region, the house and grounds were perfect for lazing about and relaxing in. The large swimming pool was the focal point for our lazy days, with lots of sunbeds around it but there were plenty of other seating areas too, some shady and some sunny. I particularly enjoyed relaxing in the hammock. There was also a lovely covered patio area which was ideal for BBQs. A car was essential as the house is isolated, but there were plenty of towns within easy reach with both supermarkets and local markets available. Further afield there are historic towns and cities to visit as well as lakes, caves and mountains. Kevin was on hand with helpful advice and recommendations about what to do and where to go, although always unobtrusive. A lovely relaxing holiday!

Chilled out holiday
We had a very nice holiday at Le Mayrinet. Everything we needed was available at the property. The pool was fabulous! A very relaxing seating area with enough pool beds and parasols. The house was spacious and on the lower level nice and cool even with the hot weather. There is a large kitchen area with more then enough space for eating inside (which we didn’t do) and 2 fridges which was perfect for keeping drinks cold. The outside dining area was covered by shade and also here more then enough space to sit and enjoy our breakfast, lunch and (mostly BBQ) dinners. We also enjoyed Kevin’s home-grown tomato’s (which were delicious). Thanks again Kevin!! The surrounding area is full of sunflower fields which were beautiful to drive past and produced some lovely pictures. The bakeries and big supermarkets take about 15minutes to get to and have everything you need. We visited some markets, Montauban and Toulouse (including the Airbus tour!). Dinner at restaurant Le Comptoir des Colibris (Colgne) was very good and in a nice setting, we would recommend it. Another recommendation would be L’Entrecote in Toulouse. All in all we had a great holiday. The pool was a definite winner while we were there. Thanks for your hospitality Kevin!! Would recommend Le Mayrinet for those looking to relax in a peaceful surrounding.

Perfect chill holidays
We had such a nice holiday at Kevin's place. The living area is cooler in temperature than outside during the hot summer days. You can also cool down in the big swimming pool. Kevin gave us a lot of private space. But he's also good company. In his own garden he grows some veggies and fruits. Surrounded by fields of sunflowers. It's a 10 min drive to the nearest supermarket. Tip: village st Antonin Noble-Val, restaurant Le Comptoir des Colibris (payable and good, make reservations). Kevin's place is recommendable for families who need some quiet time, shade and swimming pools 😉. It's definitely visit again.
