5 Min From The Caves on 21+ Acres, Wi-Fi, Hot Tub, Fire Pit, Pet Friendly, Grill
** PLEASE NOTE - I no longer have access to a laundry service that is able to take care of providing clean towels and linens. Please understand that I would like to provide this service, but I am unable to. Thus, you’ll need to plan on bringing your own. I do apologize for this.
*** Please read this entire description before booking, and feel free to ask me any questions you might have! ***
I have had some recent complaints regarding a few items so please read the following info prior to booking. Your booking this cabin acknowledges that you have read and understand the information contained in this ad.
This RUSTIC cabin is located in a wooded and grassy area. There are bugs and there are spiders and there are other furry critters in the area. The cabin is typically cleaned on a Monday after folks check out. The cleaning service has an hour round trip travel time, so it is likely it won’t be “freshened up” immediately prior to your arrival if you come later in the week. Please expect there to be a sign of activity of these bugs and spiders and other pests in this natural wooded area.
The lawn service might not always be able to mow or trim weeds directly prior to your arrival. Many factors such as rain, wooded property access, and land topology play into this. This is not a metropolitan or town location. If you are expecting that, understand you might be disappointed and won’t receive a refund.
Sometimes, a window might fail to lock. However, all main entry doors are secure and have locks on them. We have never had a security incident since we began cabin rentals in 2012. I have had many, many very happy customers. Many folks come back to each of my locations each and every season. However, a few have not been happy due to the items listed above. Please be sure you understand the above information before choosing to stay here.
This simple cottage is located on 21 scenic acres to allow hiking, campfires, grilling out, or taking a nice soak in the relaxing hot tub! It is located in South Bloomingville, OH, a mere 4 miles from Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Conkle's Hollow, and many other local attractions.
Plates, bowls, pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker, toaster oven, and trash bags are included.
The cabin has central air conditioning, an electric central furnace heater, ceiling fans, wood burner, leather couch and recliner, porch swing, and a picnic table out back! It has beds to sleep 7 (please see below for a description of the bedding arrangement), has satellite TV in the living room, a full kitchen with range, refrigerator, and microwave. Outside, there is a propane grill on the front porch. There is also ample space for a nice campfire to roast hot dogs and make S'Mores! Jim-Bo's bar and grill is right next door within walking distance if you so desire!
Bedding arrangement: There are a total of 5 mattresses on which to sleep: 1 queen size bed in the bedroom (sleeps 2), 2 twin bunkbeds in one corner of the greatroom (sleeps 2), 1 twin bed in the opposing greatroom corner (sleeps 1), pullout full size couch (sleeps 2) {Entire cabin sleeps 7}
Please note: I have very good feedback and I pride myself in trying to make sure folks enjoy their time here. I will do my best to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. In order to achieve that, I want to make sure you are aware of a few items:
The low water pressure issue was FIXED! I was able to install a booster pump in the cabin, so no more issues with low water pressure! Thanks to all those who left reviews to make me aware of it. The issue is finally behind us!!!!
The cottage is in a rural setting. It is located in the middle of a wooded area, where it is moist and the cabin itself sometimes gets little sun. Therefore the cabin can at times be slightly damp upon arrival, but it does have full central air conditioning (as well as an electric furnace) for your use when you are there.
The cabin walls are concrete block but covered on the inside and outside to have a rustic wooden feel.
As shown in the images, the back yard / fire pit area does not have a fence or barrier around its perimeter. There is not a "cliff" style dropoff here, but as in most places in hocking hills, there is a slope off the back yard area and downhill side of the cabin. Please be aware of this if you are planning on bringing young children to be present in the back yard area.
At times the satellite TV signal might be weak, or an item within the cabin might not be functional. Items such as these will be addressed ASAP by the property managers, and I will always do my best to make sure you are notified prior to booking.
The bathroom has been updated to accommodate those who are in a wheelchair or have mobility challenges (but these additions are not yet reflected in the images). Two grab bars have been installed in the shower stall. Two flip-down grab bars and a rear grab handle have been installed for the toilet area. To use the flip-down bars, simply lift up on the bars and allow them to slowly drop into position, and then push the bar toward the wall to lock it in place. To raise the bar, pull it away from the wall, raise it, and then allow it to drop into position for storage.
Finally, my property is not a rustic log cabin with all of the finished touches of one. However, you will see that my nightly price is one of the least expensive in the Hocking Hills region. I am very close to the caves. I do not charge for additional people OR pets. I do hope you enjoy your stay!
Don't delay! Get out to the Hocking Hills!
PLEASE NOTE - this property is located in a rural setting with open grassy areas and woods nearby. We do our best to keep pesky rodents away but at times there could be a rodent that was just caught in a trap. We have tried poison, traps, and using nothing at all; we have landed on continuing to use mousetraps. Poison causes them to die in the most inopportune places and having no traps at all just leads to larger issues. If you happen to find a mouse in a trap we apologize - we truly are doing the best to can to make the pests disappear. Just please be prepared to place all food in sealable containers or in the refrigerator so you don’t attract them even more!
In addition to small furry pests, an occasional wood roach might be wandering around a cabin. I assure you these are NOT a cock roach. Please google “wood roach”. They feed on moist damp wood. They don’t really want to be inside but they might have been carried in on firewood or wandered in looking for a mate. They don’t eat human food and they don’t want to be inside. If you find one, please either dispose of it or simply throw it outside. Thanks for your patience as you venture in to the rural wooded areas of Hocking Hills!

Simple but has everything you need!!! Was very pleased and enjoyed our stay so much! Very peaceful, relaxing and quiet! I would stay there many more time!!
Perfect spot for our family and dogs to have a short weekend getaway. Exactly as described and so close to everywhere we wanted to visit. Hottub was great, check in and out was very easy, no complaints at all. Thank you!
Aside from the hill leading up to the actual property, the drive to the area was easy and stress free. Cabin has everything you need!

Thanks for the great review! The area got back to back snow then ice then snow. There was no way to clear this snow and ice from the driveway - but normally it’s easily accessible.
We are glad you had a great time and hope you can return!

Hello and thanks for your review. This cabin does have an excellent location right between Old Man’s Cave and Ash Cave.
I am not sure I understand the issue with the property not looking exactly like the pictures?
The pictures were taken about 4 years ago in the spring time. The property does change appearance substantially during the seasons, as it is located in a very wooded area. When the leaves are on the trees it’s very different than when they have fallen off for the winter.
I hope you can come back and enjoy Hocking Hills soon!
The property manager was absolutely awesome! The property was exactly as described, nothing fancy but a perfect location and very enjoyable! We had great time and the price was superb! Thanks again Dan!!!😊
Perfect property for a private getaway. Cozy, homey, and warm. Enjoyed easy access to towpath for walks and adventures into towns close by. Mostly enjoyed relaxing in such a comfortable property.
Had a great time. Loved being up high on a hill side. Close to everything and for us the driveway was not a problem even covered in wet leaves. .

Everything we could need and simply lovely location.
We were looking for a private getaway in Hocking Hills and this fit the bill perfectly. We really appreciated that there was wood for a fire (which we replaced for the next person) and other extras that came in handy. We were comfortable, felt safe, and were just minutes from some of the coolest sites in our state. We would love to come back again someday!

Thanks for your great review! We hope you can make it back again soon for another visit.
This cabin is perfect for visiting the Hocking hills area, it's very close to old mans cave and the visitor center. Also Jimbo's beer and burgers is one min down the road for a great burger and other bar food. Wifi and cable work great , cabin stays cool , nice fire pit outback and a picnic table. Plenty of sleeping spaces and a hot tub out front.Basically has everything you would need for a decent price.
We had a great time and loved the location. But whoever was here before us left pills in the grill and the toaster is shot (and the cord has electrical tape on it) and it really needs dusted.

Thanks so much for the 5 star review!
We will replace the toaster, thanks for letting us know about the cord issue.
As for what was left in the grill, I looked into it and it appears someone left trash in it, which appeared to be a candy bar wrapper and their daily multivitamins. I’ll make sure the grill is cleaned from now on. I truly apologize.
Thanks again and we’d love to have you back!
Cabin was as advertised. Very close to old man's cave and even closer to ash cave! Directions were easy to follow and communication was great when needed.
Owner was very responsive and helpful. The property was as described in the listing. Not a lot of room to walk the dog but close enough to Ash Cave to go there for a walk.

I am glad you had a great time!
I have heard feedback that the 21 acres of woods and hiking trails are great for walking the dogs 😀.
I hope you can come back to enjoy this location again!
Had numerous contact with property owner. He was extremely accommodating.
Was very happy with the location and property in general. Driveway is steep but navigable. Very nice to be able to take a short morning hill climb right out the front door to stretch the legs out. I will be back.
Read all the details of the property they do a great job of giving you details of the property. Was a great getaway and perfect location. Would stay again. And we got lucky the restaurant close by had a band got a private concert and they wrapped up playing before dark if free concerts are not your thing. The driveway was steep but manageable it's scarier looking than it actually is to drive it, probably more intimidating to someone like me from the flat lands. Just book it you will have a great time.
The cabin was in a very good location. We where right by all the hicking trails maybe 20 minutes to get to them. The cabin itself was alittle rustic and very cute. The celings and night stands could use dusted alittle better, but we still loved our stay. As for the driveway its pretty bumpy getting up but not bad in a truck, theres just not much room to turn around once you get up there.
I loved the location and rustic nature of the cabin. My only complaint would have to be the condition of the sofa-sleeper. The site says sleeps 7, but the sofa bed was unusable. Everything else was great! Place was clean, rustic as expected. Beautiful views and trails nearby! Would return!

We will take a look at the sleeper sofa and see if we can schedule it to be replaced.
Thanks again!
-Very steep hill, hard to turn around at the top.
-Hot tub malfunctioned during stay.
-Pullout couch mattress needed a good cleaning.
+Close to old man's cave
+Had the essential pots and pans, plates utensils and cups for meals
+Secluded for privacy

Thanks so much for the review! Wanted to follow up with you on the hot tub. It wasn’t a malfunction; somehow it got put into “sleep” mode by some inadvertent button presses on the upper control panel. It was easily switched back when the property manager arrived to clean after your checkout. If you have any problems like this in the future, as always just reach out to the property manager whose number is listed in your welcome email. She lives just a few miles away. Thanks again for your stay!
Cabin was close to perfect for what we needed. It needs a good cleaning and some of the light switches were not in convenient locations and a door on the bedroom would have been nice, but it fit our family needs well. Location was pretty central to all the hiking we planned and the hot tub was nice after word. Counter space is a bit small and a stackable washer dryer would be a nice upgrade. Over all a very good experience though. We would definitely return for another visit.
