About this property
Starview Lodge: Quiet Mountain Home Bordering State Forest
Visiting Starview Lodge makes you feel a world away from the bustle of the city, despite being only 2 hours from San Francisco. Situated on Cobb Mountain – the tallest of the Mayacamas range above Calistoga - you will be treated to the scent of a dense forest, spectacular mountain views, and the best stargazing!
The lodge has three well-appointed bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a great room for entertaining. The master bedroom has a California King memory foam bed, while the second bedroom has a Queen memory foam bed and its own en-suite bathroom. The third bedroom has two bunk beds for a total of 4 twin beds, all with memory foam mattresses. All bedrooms are outfitted with premium linens and comforters.
The open great room combines kitchen, dining room and living room, all view spectacular views of the surrounding forest and Cobb Mountain. The lodge backs up to Boggs State Forest, and sits in a small clearing in the trees. There is a clear view of the night sky - it's a wonderful place to watch a meteor shower!
In the winter months, curl up by the wood-burning fireplace and sprawl on the couch to read a great book. You might also consider watching your favorite Netflix movie on the 50” HDTV.
In the summer, take advantage of the expansive deck with large gas grill, adirondack chairs, gas fire pit and outdoor dining table. Read a book while listening to the birds and deer rummage for food, or invite some friends and have an outdoor feast.
Once you have settled into the relaxed mountain atmosphere, you can leave the car behind and walk to many of the great things Cobb has to offer, including: • Boggs State Forest – hiking, mountain biking (1/4 mile, 5 minutes) • Mountain Meadow Golf Course (5 minutes) • Hardester’s Grocery (10 minutes) • Monterrey Mexican Grill (5 minutes) • Mountain High Coffee (10 minutes) • Cobb Mountain Pizza (10 Minutes)
You can also take a scenic drive through the mountains and discover other great nearby destinations, including: • Pine Grove Family Resort – 2 swimming pools and a café (3 minutes) • Boggs Lake Preserve - an ancient volcanic “lake” with guided nature walk (15 minutes) • Loch Lomond Market & Deli – Food, drinks (10 minutes) • Mother Loving In the Oven Bakery (10 Minutes) • Harbin Hot Springs (10 minutes)
Your pet(s) are always welcome at Starview Lodge. There is a fully fenced deck and separate dog run in the side yard for your best friends to enjoy, and a state forest with thousands of acres to play is right outside the back door!
The cabin is equipped with cable TV, high-speed Internet with WiFi, HDTV, and central heat and central air conditioning. If you must work while you are there, rest assured the internet is high speed (100mbps+) and there is a small desk, chair and monitor for you to use.
Where is Cobb Mountain? It is less than an hour from Sonoma, Mendocino and Napa counties. It is two hours from Sacramento / central valley, and two hours from the San Francisco Bay Area. The town of Cobb is above 2600’ and receives several periods of light snow during the winter! And because it is inland and sheltered from the coastal fog, it reaches wonderful but comfortable 80s/90s temperatures in the summer. It’s a perfect escape any time of the year.
Sometimes the name "lodge" confuses people! This is in fact a standalone single family home. We just call it a "lodge" because it's a rustic but comfortable home in the mountains.
NOTE on home layout: This is a two story home and is not wheelchair friendly. From the top of the driveway there are 12 exterior stairs up to the main level and entry. The main level has the kitchen, dining and living rooms, primary California king bedroom and full bath. Downstairs are two bedrooms and one bath. Interior access between floors is via a metal spiral staircase. There are two downstairs exterior doors that open to the driveway (two steps down).
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.
