Luxury Home Across from Purgatory with Great Views

Our 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath, 3,400 square foot home is located within Purgatory's Engineer Village Community and is 24 miles north of downtown Durango (less than a 30 minute drive).

Enjoy the convenience of being at the ski resort, yet have the privacy and additional space of a house with a two car garage. The resort is both an amazing winter playground, and offers a wealth of all your favorite mountain activities in a cool and comfortable summer climate at 8,900 feet in elevation. For ease, there is a free on-demand shuttle to the main plaza steps from the lifts in both winter and summer.

Master - King with TV and Ensuite Bath (2nd floor-main level)
2nd Master - King with TV and Ensuite Bath(3rd Floor)
3rd Bedroom - Bunk Beds (single over Single) and Queen Pull Out Sofa Sleeper with TV (3rd floor)
4th Bedroom - Bunk Bed (Single over Queen) (3rd floor)

This home has easy all-season paved access. 4WD/AWD not required.

This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay).

The home is adjacent to over a million acres of national forest land and backs one of the finest hiking trails in the area. Unlimited adventures await in the incomparable San Juan National Forest with walking access to three watersheds with abundant trout and extraordinary vistas of the Needles Mountains. The house is also located near the Purgatory Flats trail head, one of the finest and most scenic hikes in the area.

For an optional 4% resort fee, you will have access to the Durango Mountain Club which includes an outdoor heated pool with slide, outdoor hot tub and workout facility. The 4% resort fee included in the quote is the required resort fee that must be charged and does not allow access to the Durango Mountain Club. When booking, just advise if you would like the extra 4% resort fee added.

Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).

Beautiful property in a great location

It was very clean with a large and very well stocked kitchen. Spacious downstairs that really needs more seating in the living room. One couch and a chair doesn’t offer enough seating for 11 to gather. Could also use more than one towel per person so we did not have to wash towel so often. Overall a very nice stay!

Beautiful Home and Awesome Location

My family came up for the weekend for a quick 4- wheeling trip. This home was perfect, clean, comfortable, and a great location with quick access to Purgatory and the trails. The garage was really nice to fit 4 four wheelers and a truck. The driveway was also big enough to back in a 24’ enclosed trailer. We had a great time and hope to come back soon! I would highly recommend booking g this home!

It was absolutely beautiful and perfectly laid out for traveling with five kids. The online pictures made it look very nice. However, when we arrived we couldn't believe the size, it's VERY spacious with stunning views. The shuttle to the lifts came right to our front door. It was incredibly clean. Just a lovely, lovely home.

Perfect location

Great house conveniently located across from the ski slopes. Has was well appointed and clean. Plenty of kitchen items. Only suggestion would be to replace the skillets as the non stick has worn out on all of them. Property manager very responsive. We would stay here again!

Durango Summer Escape

We had enough space to spread out but also to enjoy being together. The kitchen and grill were awesome. We cooked breakfast every morning, drank coffee on the balcony and then hiked and biked and had a wonderful time. Location to Purgatory and the associated trails is superb. Not a complaint, just an observation, grocery and other house necessities are not readily available nearby so plan to pickup in Durango or bring with you from home.

Wonderful stay

Beautiful and incredibly clean cabin! My sister and I stayed with both our families and had the best time. There were 4 adults and 5 kids (ages 5-13). Having two masters was wonderful for both couples and then the kids had two rooms to share between the 5 of them. The room and bathroom situation was perfect. The house was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed to make all our meals. We spent our days skiing and found the on demand shuttle service to be so easy to use. The shuttle came within 5 minutes of calling them and even offered to take us back to the resort in the evening for the NYE firework show at Purgatory. We have nothing negative to say about our stay. We will certainly look to re-book this cabin next time. Thank you so much!

There was plenty of common room for our group and we liked the large dining table. Only had a couple of minor issues - could not find sheets for the sofa bed and for a rental this size we would have liked a better/larger coffee maker. Kids loved the outdoor space and had plenty of room to run around. We appreciated having the laundry (with detergent!) available as well. Way better than a hotel and would recommend for a large group gathering.

Fantastic

Our stay was absolutely wonderful the house is beautiful and so very clean . The only thing that was challenging for us was the stairs . I wish they would have given that information in the description because it was challenging with a one year old keeping her from falling down the main set of stairs or going up the other stairs . Also for elderly my father thought about coming with us but he wohld have never been able to do that many flights of stairs everyday . Just put that info on the main information section would have been appreciated otherwise i highly recommend this home and would and probably will visit this hone again !!!

My dog tore her CCL a week prior to leaving. Even with the stairs in the house she was just fine. The house had plenty of room to feel more like home, everything we needed was provided, the dogs loved the outdoors, and we got to meet a few of the neighbors in the neighborhood as well. We had all we needed and it couldn’t have been located in a better place. In the middle of everything so driving wasn’t awful. We will definitely book again.

Family Reunion in the mountains

But this biggest house had stone steps going up to first floor at least four of us tripped up or down the steps very dangerous. Also, not enough living room furniture for larger group. Worked well for our group otherwise. Less than ideal summer experience.

Great house!!!

We absolutely loved our stay! The house was immaculate and the perfect size for our family! Huge kitchen and family room allowed us all to hang out together comfortably! The views from the house were stunning. The only drawback was no air conditioning- I know this is totally normal for Colorado and even with opening all the windows it was still really warm before bed and during the day. We are from texas- a VERY warm but very air conditioned state :) The only other thing worth noting - the resort with the pool and hot tub is across the highway- so even though it’s a mile or so- it’s definitely not walking distance. So if you stay here you really need access to a car in order to do anything. It’s very close to both silverton and Durango so it is a great location. You just need to be prepared to drive first for all the things you want to do. We would 100% stay here again!! Gorgeous house w everything you could ever need! Thank you!

Disappointed

We rented this house for 2 weeks to get out of the 100+ temperatures in Phoenix, AZ. We had different guests each week. The 2 stars are based on condition,location and layout of the house. Otherwise, very sparse furniture package. No dresser/storage of any kind in 2nd master suite. No TVs in the bedrooms or master suite (den had a TV as did living area). No wall hangings of any kind. Could use more seating in living area. No curtains/window covering of any kind except master suite (none in any of the bedrooms). No screens on any of the windows/doors (choice was cool air and bugs or recirculated air) . No keys to front door or remote garage door openers. Had to hand key in code at garage door to enter/exit house. Very inconvenient especially when it was raining. Had to haul our trash to dumpster 1/4 mi away. Had to replenish basic supplies we used; dish soap, all paper products, trash bags, etc. Had to pay for mid stay (2 weeks rental) clean up at an exorbitant rate. House cleaners took dish towels and never returned them even though we were told by the property manager they would be there the day after they took them, (we ended up buying some). The property has no amenities i.e. hot tub, bikes, tennis rackets (community has a court), DVDs, CDs, games, toys,etc. We paid an additional fee (% of rental cost) to use nearby recreational facilities (nice facilities). I would never rent this home in the winter without having an on-site hot tub. We have rented numerous homes using VRBO and all other experiences have been great.

Great stay

We enjoyed our stay at the property. It had everything we needed for a relaxing trip for our party of 6. The location (halfway between Durango and Silverton) was perfect for us to explore the area and do as much or as little as we wanted each day. My only advice for others was that we thought we would use the pool amenities more than we did. The facilities was small and in hindsight we would have been fine not paying the surcharge.

Family getaway

We enjoyed the spacious home and beautiful views of the mountains. We had significant amounts of snowfall during our stay which was wonderful to enjoy. Road crews and the private driveway plowing and blowing allowed us to enjoy the time without worry about the snow. A memorable experience for our family.
