Exceptional N.Lake Tahoe Retreat/Charney Chalet: Dog Friendly, HotTub, Fast WiFi
Enjoy the wonderful quiet surroundings of Lake Tahoe in our gorgeous mountain home, CHARNEY CHALET. It offers over 2200 square feet of spacious living space on a 1/3 acre lot. This retreat is newly decorated in alpine comfort and elegance. There is a newly remodeled kitchen with solid granite countertops, hardwood floors and beautiful wood appointments throughout. The kitchen has a 4 burner gas cook top with a convection oven. It is fully stocked with exceptional Gunter Wilhelm Executive Chef Series 7 pc. Knife Set (High Carbon Stainless Steel) sold at Williams-Sonoma. This is added to our smaller existing set of Michael Chiarello Napa-Style Santoku high-end knives. We have recently added a 10 piece set of Calphalon Durable Hand-Anodized Aluminum Non-Stick interior Pots and Pans with Stay Cool Handles and Oven safe to 450 degrees. This improvement should make the most discriminating chef happy. Since we frequent our Lake Tahoe home often, we look forward to having a beautifully-stocked kitchen for our own family meals, as well for our many guest renters. Professional chefs have even complimented us on our cook ware. There is a large dining table that easily seats 10. We have Fiesta Ware plates and serving platters with lots of silverware to compliment the table.
The well-furnished large Great Room has a cozy river rock fireplace as a focal point. We have lots of seating for your group to be together. Enjoy music on the stereo sound system or watch a DVD on the new 39’ flat screen HD-TV. Watch a movie from cable on demand. The large living area also includes a reading nook surrounded by lovely windows and French doors that lead to our deck. Just outside on the private deck is our NEW Marquis hot tub with peek views of Lake Tahoe. Our hot tub seats 4 - 5 and has fountain features and is state of the art! We have our hot tub professionally cleaned and maintained before every new guest rental arrives. There is a table, umbrella, chairs and a barbecue on the deck, as well, for enjoying the outdoor ambience during the summer months. A well-appointed powder room is off the great room. This great room offers a very large living area with high sloped pine ceilings that allows for wonderful family time with mountain atmosphere.

Another use of this room is a lovely adult bedroom. There is also a very comfortable, new and attractive iron-framed queen bed. This bedroom is very private with an ensuite full bathroom. This hideaway bedroom is quiet and private with access to the backyard through the sliding glass doors. It has forced air heating but also has its own new wall heater for comfort. The Charley Chalet was the perfect place to start the new year (with lots of snow)!!! Perfect location in Carnelian Bay, close to lake, grocery store and of course Gar Woods Restaurant for a Wet Woody!! We enjoyed the jacuzzi on the large deck with snow falling on us. It was just beautiful! Thank you for having us, and our doggies! We all had a fantastic time!

It was evident that they wanted to make sure we had a pleasant stay. Everything was just as it was described. The beds were comfortable and the home was well stocked. The hot tub looked very new and everything was clean. The location was perfect as well.

We are so happy you found our place beautiful. Because we have a preferable reverse floor plan, all the views from the Great Room and Primary Room are of the trees and peek views of Lake Tahoe. This creates a privacy and beauty that we enjoy as well. Since we manage our home's bookings ourselves, we can connect with our guests before their trip to answer any questions they may have. Our home is in a quiet neighborhood, but close to Kings Beach and Tahoe City.
We loved this cabin. It was comfortable, had a great layout, and was very well stocked with everything we needed for a week at the lake. Communications with Mark and Tere were easy and clear, and they provided all the information we needed to make things go seamlessly during our stay. Highly recommend!

Beautiful well equipped home in a great location. Tons of space for our group. The patio, grill, and hot tub are ideal for enjoying summer evenings. The master bedroom is like sleeping in a treehouse because there is a bay window at the head of the bed; delightful.

We are so glad you enjoyed your vacation at our home. We love the way our space is wonderful for families and large groups of friends. Our primary master room is like sleeping in a tree house (I love how you described it like that) as we have a reverse floor plan where the living area and primary room with ensuite bathroom and a powder bathroom is on the second floor giving nice views of the trees and some peek views of Lake Tahoe. We have many returning guests and that is really fun for us as we make an effort to talk to our guests and help them plan a lovely vacation retreat.
There was a slight issue when we first arrived, but I called Tere and it was taken care of quickly. This home was great for our family with ages from 8 to 70. It is in a terrific location. I would highly recommend staying here.

We are so glad you found our vacation home in a nice location. We are close to the lake but being a few blocks off the highway and on a quiet street, allows for retreat. We are walking distance to a dog friendly beach and close to many activities on the north shore. Our home is spacious and with our great room, it enables the family or group of friends to be together with the deck just through the French doors.
This place is amazing! It accommodated our large family comfortably. Mark & Tere were very communicative and helpful during our stay which made it exceptional. We would stay here again!

We try to be the best home away from home in North Lake Tahoe. We feel that good communication and kindness goes a long way when helping our guests have a wonderful vacation. Managing our home ourselves allows us to do that. We visit our home quite frequently, so that makes it easy to keep our kitchen well stocked and orderly. Our Great Room is fun and we are glad our guests can be together cooking, dining, watching tv, reading, or playing games. We hope you return like many of our guests choose to do.

Thanks for your kind words. We are glad that your family felt comfortable in our home. Our great room is perfect for 10 guests with a large living room, kitchen, dining room and deck. We really try to provide all that a group needs to be comfortable. We hope you will be able to return.
Lovely home. Stairs were a little difficult for my 86 y/o mom with bad knees, but she hung around house most of time and loved the deck and sunny nook. Kids loved bunk beds and fooz ball game. Others loved the easy trails around neighborhood and easy walk down and slightly harder walk back up from the pebble beach.

We are glad you found our home comfortable. I feel that our mountain home does have something for everyone. I love our sunny nook off the great room and with the deck so easily accessible, everyone can find a place to be. We are glad your children liked the fire engine bunk bed and the foos ball table. Our most popular guests are multi-generational families and it seems to work well with our spaces that invite them to relax and have fun. We hope you return like many of our guests that do.
The layout of this home was perfect for our family of 8 adults and a teenager. The two sitting areas and open kitchen accommodated board game fans and readers alike. The home was dog-friendly and we loved the pictures of the owner's family dog. Mark and Tere were responsive and thoughtful hosts. We highly recommend this vacation home!

About the host
Hosted by Tere and Mark Charney
We have always enjoyed Lake Tahoe even before we had children. Now we have 4 adult children that grew up coming to the lake and creating wonderful memories at our Charney Chalet! The whole family enjoys visiting for all seasons. In the winter, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows and Northstar are all within 15 -20 minutes from our home. There is great hiking right out our door or not far away. We love to travel with our dog and that is why we extend that to our guests. Dogs love Lake Tahoe as much as their other family members. We have shown you some of the nearby hiking trails on the map.
Why they chose this property
We have visited many areas of the Lake Tahoe region. We enjoy the north shore because it is less hectic and less influenced by the south shore casinos. Agate Bay is a very special place. It is so quiet, that on a busy 4th of July weekend, in Agate Bay, you would not even know it was so busy several miles away in Kings Beach and Tahoe City. We are located on a quiet street with underground utility wires that sits across the street from nature conservancy land. We offer our home for you to enjoy Lake Tahoe and Agate Bay.
What makes this property unique
We love spending time with our family and extended family sitting on our deck during the summer. Our lot is 1/3 acre so there is a sense of privacy, peacefulness and quiet. Our street has underground utility wires and our wooded surroundings makes for an amazing getaway feeling, while knowing that we can cook a gourmet meal or a quick snack in our new kitchen just back inside our french doors. Our home is big enough to come together in the great room for meals, hanging out, watching a movie, or playing games. Our home also allows room for privacy in the many well-appointed bedrooms and bonus room. All of our furnishing and amenities are new and it does not feel like a rental home but our home away from home. In the winter, our home is easily warmed up with our wood-burning stove or our central heater. There is a lot of room outside to play and sled. The NEW hot tub is four steps from the french doors off the great room, so getting there year round is a luxurious opportunity.
