Casa da Beira Mar is a very cozy and typical house with a garden that has a direct access to the sea, located on the north shore of the island. It is only 10 / 15m from the main town (Ponta Delgada) and the largest beach of the north coast, and 5m walking to a complex of natural swimming pools on the sea.
It is an eco and family friendly house (equipped with a baby crib and a baby high chair for eating, at your request), ideal for those who look for a joyful stay near the sea and nature.

Short stay, great exlerience

All was as advertised - quaint, cozy, clean, good location, super backyard and views, handing parking for 1 car. Spacious for a couple or 2. If you like cats, there are a few that like to hang out in the backyard.

Stone Cottage on the Sea

We enjoyed our stay. Joana was very helpful and responsive with all of our questions. The cottage has a garden with access directly to a wonderful cliff walk along the ocean. The only caution I would give is that to get here you have to drive down a very narrow, steep street.

Sea side retreat in quaint small town

Our stay was so lovely! We really enjoyed how close the house was to the water- we walked to the natural pool every day, made friends with the locals, and enjoyed exploring nearby attractions. The house itself is old and charming with modern conveniences that make it very comfortable. Joana was a very helpful host and always accommodated any questions I had. We will be back!

Quaint oceanfront bungalow

We enjoyed staying at this property for four nights in early April, 2025. Although our weather was chilly and at times rainy, this property had a warm cozy feel to it. It was ample room for just the two of us and we enjoyed using the woodstove nightly and an ample supply of firewood was available. Joana, the owner welcomed us with a nice gift of fruit, bread and jam. One issue with the washing machine, was quickly resolved by a simple call to her.A walking trail borders the back of the property and separates it from the cliffs to the ocean. A great place for walking!

Perfect Spot

The view through the gate and sitting on the cliffs was awesome, better than we expected. The cliff walk was also fantastic. The inside of cottage was close to what we expected. A traditional azorean home. Plenty of space for our needs and clean. As far as I could tell there was no central heating, but the space heaters were enough. Parking is on the road but we could always find a spot across the street on the sidewalk, which is what the locals do. The town was quaint and had it been warmer, I would have been in natural pools. Lastly, communication with owner was five stars!

Beautiful house by the sea

The house is located in a quiet street by the sea. It is a 10-minute walk to the public bathing area. The house is nicely furnished with almost everything you need. I particularly liked the sea view from the upper bedroom and the open design of the living area, dining area and kitchen. In addition, very nice and helpful contact with the owner.

A very cute and cozy house by the sea.

My husband and I stayed at this charming house while vacationing in the Azores. We had everything we needed there including a washing machine. The host was very sweet and helpful. Just a text away. She responds quickly. It’s in a good central location of the island.

Beautiful days in Sao Miguel

We very, very much enjoyed the stay in Sao Vicente Ferreiro. A car is necessary, but you'll need it anyway for exploring the island. Joanas house is lovely; we felt home every time we arrived back from an excursion. Though many houses in the area are being built contempory now, a typical Azores house is what you come for to these islands. Inside, it is tastefully and mindfully restaured -old features combine well with modern and practical aspects. It is larger than the impression from the fotos in the internet. Worked well for four adults. Well equipped with towels and sheets. Very nice collection of photo books about the Azores and some very helpful hiking guides. Washer and dryer make life easy. We missed one or the other kitchen gadget, but this was not important. The outside towards the ocean is nice. Great sunset views behind the west of the island. The street was a few time a bit loud. Hope the surroundings will stay and this beautiful house will not be built-in between modern places. Supermarkets easy to reach. We thought it was a great loacation for all excursions on the island. Will return in case we return to Sao Miguel.

This was a great stay in Joana's house. The house is very cosy, directly on the Ocean with a fantastic garden. It was very comfortable for us. No negative Point at all! Will definetly come back!! Thank you so much Joana for the friendly and fast communication. And also for the items for our first breakfast!

Ocean Refuge Indeed!

We loved our stay in Casa da Beira Mar! an updated and charming fisherman's cottage with all of its original charm! The sound of the ocean filled our two week stay, and the changing colours of the ocean and sky were a delight. We fully expected to spend a great deal of time "at home" on this trip because of rain, etc but we totally lucked out on the weather! it was beautiful most days! we did take full advantage of the home's cozy ambiance with a fire most evenings! Joana was a delight to deal with and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and convenient. one thing does make me a bit sad , however was to see how many of the lovely old cottages were being torn down to make modern, gated, closed off edifices! Enjoyed the quiet, the slow pace, and most of all the landscape! such a beautiful place!

Seaside paradise

We stayed in Joana’s lovely seaside home on the north coast of Sao Miguel for 6 nights in May. The photos show the property accurately, and the back yard with access to the sea is amazing. The location is fairly central for island exploring, but not in the center of Ponta Delgada - just the right mix for us. With our car rental, it was easy to get to grocery shopping and restaurants. Communication with Joana was easy, and there was a good information book provided.

Haus in toller Lage

Wir haben zweieinhalb Wochen in Joanas schönem Haus verbracht. Perfekte Lage, 15 Minuten mit dem Auto nach Ponta Delgada, 20 Minuten zum Flughafen, gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in Capelas. Uneinsehbare Terrasse, Garten bis zum Meer zum Wellengucken. Küstenwanderweg führt am Haus vorbei, in der Nähe fußläufig Meeresnaturbecken. Gutes W-Lan im Haus (ist für manche ja wichtig). Gute Wegbeschreibung und Betreuung durch Joana. Bei Fragen antwortet sie innerhalb kurzer Zeit per Mail. Keine Fragen: Wir würden das Haus wieder buchen. (Bitte nicht weitersagen, sonst ist das Haus immer ausgebucht ;-))
