About this property

Cosy cottage with ocean view

This cosy 19th century converted cottage is located on the west coast of County Clare just outside the little town of Doonbeg. The setting of the cottage is breathtaking. As shown in the photographs, the cottage is blessed with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and is surrounded by rolling green fields. The Aran Islands can be seen on the ocean horizon to the north. The beach (the White Strand) and cliff walks are minutes from the door. The Cliffs of Moher, The Burren, and Doolin (where ferries run to the Aran Islands) are within an hour's drive. There are of course many local pubs and good restaurants.
Opened July 2002, The Doonbeg Golf Club, designed by the legendary two-time British Open champion Greg Norman. 'A true Links site - soaring, grass-covered dunes rising nearly one hundred feet tall above the white-capped Atlantic'. A private club with public play.

Things to See and Do: See the unique natural attractions of Ireland's South western Region, such as The Burren, The Cliffs of Moher, and the Aran Islands. Explore the wild Clare coast on Loop Head. Visit Bunratty Castle and Folk Park near Shannon airport. Take a ferry ride and drive the Dingle peninsula. Spend a day in Galway City, have lunch on the way at Moran's on the Weir, famous for Galway oysters, and seafood, located near Clarinbridge. Take a walk from the cottage to the striking Baltard Cliffs or just go fishing or golfing.

A little place in paradise at the End of the world
It is a wonderful, silent place surrounded only by nature with an overwhelming view over the ocean and the coast. If you love the nature, the ocean, no people, no other input and you need a place far away, then it is the right place for relaxing! We‘ re coming back for sure!

Breathtaking views of the wild Atlantic
Cossy cottage close to the shore. Impressive views of the Atlantic ocean from the main room. The area is out of the beaten path although the connections are difficult. Closest attractions Head Loop (25 m) and Cliffs of Moher (45 m). The fireplace with the crane and pot hanger takes you back to 1800s. The wc sometimes clogs and takes you back to the 1970s, I would renew this part :-)

Keepsake in Killard
This home was at the top of my bucket list. It was owned by my great grandfather until 1914. My grandfather left this home in 1913 to come to America. It is one of a few homes in the village that dates back more than 300 years old. The area is beautiful and unspoiled. A small farming community that remains today. We watched the farmer behind us put his cows out everyday. The views of the Atlantic are awesome. Sunrises and sunsets are gorgeous. You can see the Cliffs of Moher from the front window on a clear day. Instructions and descriptions are accurate. Owner gives information about the area and there are the towns of Kilrush and Kilkee nearby to explore. The house is spacious and comfortable and has that cottage feel. We will return to one day to experience life as it was over a 100 years ago.

Sweet Serenity
This cottage is amazing. Though very outdated for the average tourist, the old world charm, location, peace, and quiet were exactly what we needed. The heating system went a little on us two days into our stay but we totally didn’t care. We bought some extra firewood, some extra wine, and moved all the blankets into the living room and slept in front of the fire the next two nights. It was wonderful. The town is adorable. So friendly. Kilkee was GREAT! If you want a large kitchen and large tv with all the cable channels, new furniture and amenities, this isn’t for you. If you want experience a lovely part of all this Island has to offer and reconnect….. this is your place. Thank you Etain, we had a lovely adventure and will be back ( message me if you ever want to sell)

Low cost
This property needs major renovations to be suitable for guests . We spent one night there because it was to late to seek other lodging . The host refunded half of our payment and we moved on the next morning.

Traditional Irish cottage
The cottage was just what we expected and hoped for. It was quaint and what I always envisioned that a Irish cottage was. It was surrounded by fields of green and the blue ocean was the backdrop. So beautiful!! Better than the pictures.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour grâce à l'emplacement exceptionnel de la maison. Vivement conseillé pour les amoureux de la nature. Vue superbe de la grande chambre. Petit bémol concernant le mobilier qui mériterait un rafraîchissement.

Amazing views!
The property was amazing, the drive to the cottage was a little scary but well worth the drive. The owner stopped and welcomed us and stopped before we left, she's so sweet and welcoming! Everything was as listed and made for a very enjoyable stay. We ate in Doonbeg and saw many sites. Would love to come back ❤️

Disappointing
Property looks like something out of the seventies, tv the size of a postage stamp, kitchen for a self catering accommodation a complete joke , completely inadequate for the catering needs, the bins were locked, no keys washing machine broken , owner appeared reluctant to replace but did, this property is managed remotely by someone who appears to reside in the uk , so obvious problems Re communication, left the place in a clean condition, consistent with many other lets that I have used , never a problem, except here I was issued with a demand for 200 e cleaning fee which I refused to pay , so I was told I would get a bad review!!! The demand for additional monies keft a sour note because despite this we had a good time in west Clare

Killard Doonbeg
Very enjoyable stay for 5 nights in a really really nice traditional Irish cottage. Location was rural and the cottage had excellent views. The ideal get away if you want a nice quiet chill out. Open Irish turf fire in the cottage was a lovely feature.

Missing some minor but important details
Size, location (amazing sea views) and distribution are good. Small details could improve the quality of the stay a lot. For us it is important that bathroom area has minimum comfortable conditions, and this had not (shower, WC tap not locked, etc.) Kitcken is also important, and having separate hot and cold water taps makes it more difficult to wash dishes.

clean, basic comfort, nothing fancy
This home is special because my husband's grandfather was born here in the early 1900's. Location is quite remote but the close by town of Doonbeg has excellent restaurants and a small grocery. You can see the waves crashing on the rocks from the front window. This view is from the road up the hill. Farms dot the landscape and cows, sheep, horses are all around. A wonderful retreat!

We'll be Back
My wife and I spent 7 days in this wonderful irish cottage. I can't say enough about our stay. The setting is beautiful. We'd have dinner in the friendliest town of Doonbeg. Visit with the locals, and go for walks down old Irish country roads. We sat by a peat fire every night. The cottage was everything we hoped for. Not too much, not too little. The Cliffs of Moher are not far, and if you like an occasional game of golf, there are plenty of courses nearby. Thank you Anne!
