Feels like home
The Villa is beautifully landscaped and the interior is very comfortable. I found myself referring to it as "home" on several occasions! The Villa was impeccably clean as were the linens and appliances. The mountain views from the Villa are breathtaking! Our Host was very gracious and accommodating.

House was uninhabitable
Arriving to the Gullivers Nest, we found out that the previous renter, had caused problems with the toilet and pipelines.
But the owner found us an alternative, in a resort, also with swimmingpool. So he did a great job, and was very responsable to find a fantastic place, and not to spoil our vacation in Sicily. Despite the problems, we had a great vacation.

thanks so much for witnessing what I did for you. In any case it was my duty to sort the problem out by avoiding spoiling your vacation.
We all slept fantastic on a very good matters and it's not so common to sleep so well on a vacation holiday, the house was very clean and the owner welcomed us with a fantastic dinner, the owner gave us important tips how to enjoy our holiday at the best, the house is located in a very strategic place where we could reach in a few minutes all the main beaches such as.. Guida Loca, la tunnara, mazzo di Sciacca and the natural reserve lo zingaro...... I do really recommend for any tourists who wants to spend a great vacation in this beautiful place. It's just a hint ask the owner to cook for you a fantastic sicilian dinner, for sure you will be very surprised and happy...... Thank you Giovanni for having taking into consideration all our requests...
Kind regards from all us..... Salih Alahwal

Nice house but too many extra expenses
The pool and outdoor area is as described and the area with mountainview is very beautiful. We a had a great week in Gullivers nest, but we were not happy about all the ekstra money we had to pay for ekstra cleaning and for power. We also had to pay ekstra for filling water in the spa even though we didnt use it.
The kitchen lacks equipment for cooking and the power went on and off all the time.
All in all we had a good holiday, but the price didn´t match the house.

the bible speaks clearly when it says: feed the hungry and give drink to the thirsty. Your ingratitude seems obvious to me, because you did not mention the fact that upon your arrival we gave you a dinner for all the members ( 8 people )of your group. point 2 I gave you 500 grams of pesto, home made organic form our garden with almonds, pine nuts and pistachio, which you devoured and asserted that my pesto was definetly excellent.
point 3 no money , no electricity were asked you for the use of the Jacuzzi
Also in the house policy it is written that because of the covid the water would have been changed and that this would have entailed an extra cost bla, bla, bla,
as far as electricity is concerned, the meter disconnected because the house is equipped with a 6 kw meter, the use of 4 air conditioners, very powerfull, plus dishwasher and washing machine, the meter would not have withstood this power. as you said: in Denmark you don't use air conditioners, when I explained to you how to use electrical tools intelligently. you told me to inform people coming from Danimarc that so many things can not be turned on at once.
Another crucial point: it is a fake information that the kitchen lacks cooking utensils.
when I asked you if everything was okay, you should have answered by highlighting all these gaps mentioned in the review.
I personally after a person offered me a dinner for 8 people for free, which is not included in the bill,
offered a delicious pesto to say the least. I would have politely thanked for the kind attention to travelers coming from Denmark. Gratitude is a dutiful act, exspeccially when for an igratutude you write things that are neither in heaven nor on earth. good luck to you, Giovanni
We greatly enjoyed staying at this property. The house is spacious, well-appointed and comfortable but we especially enjoyed the pool and the shaded outdoor dining area where we would have breakfast and lunch and enjoy the magnificent views of the surrounding area and mountains. It is truly a beautiful property. The host Giovanni was very friendly and helpful with regard to both the house and things to do in the area. On top of that, he provided us with a delicious lunch (with local wine) on the day of our arrival. I had mentioned one of our daughters is on a gluten-free diet, so he made the pasta GF. Much appreciated. During the stay he also delivered a very tasty local style of pizza. The property is very convenient to the city, which we enjoyed even more than we anticipated, as well as to the beaches in San Vito Lo Capo and other local attractions. I would highly recommend this property and would stay here again if we have the good fortune to get back to Sicily.

thank you so much for the lovely review. I really appreciated the way you left the house, clean and tidy, very few people respect the rule and the policy of the house.
We stayed in villa Raffa with our family whilst we toured Sicily in mid August 2024.
From the moment we checked in our host Giovanni made us feel very welcome and went through all logistics and attractions nearby.
The villa itself was beautiful and in a great location only a few minutes drive from the beach. The pool was the highlight of our kid’s break especially it being salt water and without chlorine was a massive bonus for the little ones. The hot tub was not hot but the coldness of it was refreshing as it was so hot that it was a welcome treat. Again no chlorine was used which was great.
However, what made our stay extra special was Giovanni’s hosting. He was always available, attentive and went out of his way to make us all feel welcome. Going as far as to bring us his homemade pesto and baking a lasagna with organic aubergines for the 8 of us. So yummy! I cannot thank him enough as he really did make our holiday extra special. Always laughing and joking around, what a great character. He really was a fantastic host with such a beautiful villa which allowed us all to relax and enjoy our much needed Sicilian holiday!
Many thanks
Giuseppina Urso
The villa is in need of some modernisation and decluttering. It was not clean in a number of rooms and smelled musty. It is also very dark Inside the property.
However there was a modern sofa , good mattresses and a smart TV, so it was very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped, with great coffee machine options. Could do with a knife sharpener or sharp knives.
However the outside space with the pool and jacuzzi is really great. We loved eating outside.
The host is lovely. He made us food on arrival. We also had a fantastic meal cooked by him for our friends birthday. which we paid for. The host is quite a personality as well as a trained chef!
He was very kind to us and made it a special occasion. Food beautiful.
I would say that the pricing needs to be more upfront in the booking information as there are additional costs in the house rules section such as 200euros for cleaning and additional electricity use cost.
Overall I think it is value for money, but it would aid transparency to simplify the costings in the up front booking.
Our electricity costs were 50 euro for 4 nights stay with only one night use in the jacuzzi for a hour. This was a discounted rate and we were only around the property at night.
Go prepared to Cook at night because you would need to drive to restaurants. It is however a lovely place to spend time relaxing in the evening.
The Accomodation was fantastically located to enjoy the beaches and boat trip around Zingaro Nature Reserve

Thank you so much for your review 💗 but at the same time I have to contradict you certain points 👉 first the house 🏠 was modernised in June last year we bought new very expensive mattresses and pillows made of lattex to make our guests sleep well as if they were at home. We also did the walls and the lights as well.
Second it is not true that there are hidden extra cost since as you said they are written in the rules of the house and since the very beginning you were aware of the extra cost see our conversation on WhatsApp and trough vrbo. You even contact vrbo. Infatti when you arrived you paid me the extra cost mentioned in the rules of the house. When you arrived you turn on all the air-conditioned and used it with open door and window. You also wanted to have the jacuzzi on since the very beginning and during your stay you used almost 2000 litres hot water ( 400 litres for showers and 1600 for the jacuzzi infact I personally empty half of the jacuzzi and fill it with 1600 litres hot water to make you save money and I personally served to make you have fun. Decluttering what! Infact in the house there were two vacuum cleaners one for the use of the travellers and one new supposed to give as a present to a friend of mine for her birthday that you decided to open it without asking permission. When you use air-conditioned it is always advisable to open the windows the next day to avoid musty or musty smell. This is the first time after so many years we heard that complain. Yet we take your advice and make precious for the future. Kind regards Giovanni that even cooked ravioli home made with different tastes. (Spent half day making the ravioli and cooked for free an extra evening just to make your stay special as you said.

A magical villa, a magical vacation...
Our time at Gulliver’s Nest was magical, and all of the credit goes to the wizard behind the scenes, the proprietor, Giovanni Rappa.
The magic began the moment we stepped into the villa; Giovanni met us at the door with a Rappa specialty--homemade lasagna and a salad fresh from his garden. His homemade wine mellowed us into Sicilians within moments. What a great start to our vacation!
Gulliver’s Nest is a spotless, spacious villa, beautifully furnished with contemporary furniture and ‘found’ architectural elements from Giovanni’s travels around the world. We especially loved the kitchen with its 100-year-old windows, beautiful carved wooden cabinets and marble-topped double-island. The kitchen is huge and well equipped—the perfect space for any level of culinary expertise. A plus for us is the long wooden table, large enough to fit our whole party and several dinner guests.
We had many opportunities to entertain guests and Giovanni made each event special by surprising us again and again with gifts from his kitchen. One day it was a jar of sun-dried tomato pesto to be eaten with fresh pasta and tuna. Another day was an extravaganza of sausage, pork, meatballs, potatoes and peppers prepared on site just for us on two large lava rock cooking surfaces. Incredible!
Giovanni makes sure that all of his guests’ needs are met. The furniture in the villa is lovely and well maintained. The beds are comfortable. Plenty of linens are provided. The villa is very airy and well laid out, there is ample room for everyone to gather in the main rooms and plenty of nooks if you want to get some privacy.
Gulliver’s Nest is in the quiet neighborhood of Fraginesi. Fraginese is just off of the main roads, so we could choose between staying at the villa for lazy, sunny afternoons on the chaise lounges by the pool; or hopping over to the crystal clear Guida Loca beach nearby; or day trips exploring the many foreign influences that have created the unique Sicilian culture - ancient Greeks at Segesta, Elymians at Erice, the Arab markets in Palermo, the Byzantine beauty of the Cathedral of Monreale.
We had an amazing, fun filled vacation and can’t wait to come back to both Giovanni and the lovely Gulliver’s Nest. We’re already planning our next trip. I’m ready for Christmas in Sicily!

Giovanni is a very generous and naturally gifted host who has lived a fascinating life. He met us late at night when we checked in with a wonderful homemade Sicilian meal. He showed us where to buy local food introduced us to local people and even secured my family fresh fish at the harbour and cooked it for us. The villa is traditional Sicilian and was very spacious for 5 people complete with comfortable beds, a pool and hot tub. The villa is in a quiet area and was in a perfect location for day trips to wonderful beaches and scenery. If your looking for the best Sicilian hospitality I highly recommend!

highly recommend this well equipped, spacious, authentic villa in a stunning location
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Gulliver’s Nest. The villa is very well equipped and spacious and we loved the authentic Sicilian style. It was very clean and comfortable - very comfortable mattresses too which is important for a holiday.
Giovanni is a very friendly host who did everything he could to make our holiday special. He provided an amazing lasagne and home made wine for when we arrived from the airport. Over the week he treated us to various Sicilian meals including homemade ravioli with stew and a superb sfincione - we felt we were getting a real slice of Sicily. He also took the time to teach us how to make carbonara one evening - it was a really fun evening and we are looking forward to recreating carbonara ourselves.
The villa is in a wonderful location- very near to castellmare del golfo but also in easy reach of many beautiful places. We enjoyed a lovely boat trip to explore the coast, beautiful beaches, trip to Erice and Segesta. Giovanni was full of information about the area and helped us with our boat and car rental - he really tried to make our holiday easy for us.
We highly recommend this place and hope to return one day to create more Sicilian memories.

It was a pleasure 🙏 sharing with you real authentic cisilian food and make your staying unforgettable

Gulliver's Nest was one of the best villas we've stayed at because it was accommodating for 9 people and Giovanni was very willing to help. When we arrived, Giovanni provided dinner and fresh homemade wine. Not only was it delicious, but we felt like family. Giovanni went through everything in detail to ensure our trip was amazing. The views were beautiful and the pool and jacuzzi were refreshing amenities that promoted relaxation. The area is safe so there is no worry of theft and Giovanni was eager to answer any questions we had. The villa is close enough to the city for visiting, but far enough away that it's quiet. Giovanni was a gracious host and even provided dinner again on the last night of our stay. We had an amazing vacation that wouldn't have been possible without Gulliver's Nest.

We have enjoyed our stay in Gullivers Nest, located in a quiet environment close to Castellamare. The house is spacious and we liked very much the big garden with the swimming pool. Gullivers Nest is an excellent starting point to explore north west Sicily. At arrival we needed to pay cash a deposit to owner which was refunded with deduction of the electricity consumption during our stay a few days after we returned home. The owner Giovanni Rappa is friendly and helpfull.
