Great location!!

Great place. Have stayed at same location for several years. The only issue is that the flat has maintenance issues. The roof leaks, door handles are broken, gas went out during our stay and had to be repaired, also a water pipe broke and we had no water for a day.

We have addressed the issues you mentioned regarding maintenance and have gone well beyond the items you mentioned. The water pipe that broke was out of our control and the city of Mazatlan did their best to repair it as fast as possible. The entire area of Centro Histórico was without water until the underground pipe was fixed. We look forward to your next stat with us and am sure you will be happy with all the improvements we have made.

Very nice Condo

We had a amazing stay here at this condo, owners are really nice and will answer quickly. Sandra is the lady in charge of meeting you when you arrive at the condo she is really nice and will answer any questions you have. Condo is located right on the Malecon which was so nice you could see all the people having fun and hear all different types of music. The view from the condo is beautiful you can sit outside relax and just enjoy the view.

Amazing Place

The loft is an amazing place! It has a huge living area which was perfect for our 20 person meetings and hang outs. The rooms are very comfortable. Being downtown has its plusses and its minusses - Friday and Saturday nights are booming downtown and so it is very noisy until about 2 AM (Bring Earplugs if you are trying to sleep), however being able to just walk around the historic center is awesome. 10 minutes from the beautiful Machado Plaza, and 20 minutes from the cathedral. The hosts are very accommodating, and their helper (Sandy) is a wonderful person. I would recommend this place any day.

The location and size of the condo is in comparable, being directly across from the famous Malecon makes it a popular place for people on Friday and Saturday’s you are correct. Thanks for staying with us and the rest recommendation for other groups to stay.

Unbeatable location!

Pros: • You absolutely could not ask for a better location! The property's across the street from the beach and easily walkable to all the restaurants, shops, and sights in the old city. • The property manager, Sandy, is amazingly responsive, kind, and helpful. She and the property owners graciously accommodated a last-minute change by our airline so that we were able to enjoy a relaxing last day of vacation rather than stressing out over logistics. • The floorplan is INCREDIBLE. The big central room has 20-foot ceilings and looks directly out onto the ocean. It's almost unbelievable! • The well-stocked beach supplies (umbrella, chairs, towels, toys, you name it!) were a thoughtful touch that we really appreciated. Things to know: • As is clear in the listing, this is the third/fourth floor of a staircase-only building, and wouldn't be a good stay for people with mobility limitations. • As is also clear in the listing, the street out front is lively well into the early hours of the morning. People who are sensitive to street noise would want to choose a room with that in mind, and probably bring earplugs. • This is not the Ritz-Carlton—there are some opportunities for maintenance (rusty ceiling beams, missing ceiling tiles, a finicky hot water heater, minor stains on bedding), as some of the other reviews note. That said, the property is clean and has everything you would need! Overall: Our multi-generational extended family had a fantastic time and made many wonderful memories exploring a GORGEOUS corner of the world. Thank you for everything!!

This was a phenomenal condo. Great view, plenty of space and in a great location. The property manager and owner were very accommodating and responded quickly to any need or question. We will definitely be coming back next year! I would HIGHLY recommend!

The Property is at a great location, but however it does need a lot of maintenance, the main beam is rusty and about to collapse, there is no AC in the Kitchen, nor in the Dinning area. The Refrigerator is rusty and not working properly along with the, washing machine, microwave and all appliances were not in optimal conditions. The roof was leaking. There were 3 occasions without running water. . All rail gards are rusted and unsafe .

Hello Jose: Thank you for your comments but let's go over some of the issues that you mentioned. 1. The main beam has some surface rust that is being fixed BUT IS NOT ABOUT TO COLLAPSE and never was. 2. You knew that there was no AC in the great room & kitchen before you booked. All of the bedrooms have AC. 3. The refrigerator works fine, the appliance serviceman that we brought out told you that you cannot fill the entire fridge and freezer 100% full and expect that it will cool and freeze fast, it takes time for the fridge and freezer to handle the amount of food when stuffed 100% full. 4. The washing machine was not working for 24 hours as we replaced the pressure pump, you were told this would not work until the pump was replaced and you said you understood but now you complain about it in a review. 5. THE MICROWAVE CANNOT BE USED to COOK FOOD TOR 20 GUESTS WITHOUT IT OVERHEATING. You overheated it and it needed time to cool down and then it worked just fine (just like a hairdryer) 6. It was raining and we had a leak in the roof so I sent my cleaners in every morning to make sure that any water on the floor was moped up and the floor was not slippery but safe. (you made no mention of how happy you were with this provision) 7. We live directly in front of the ocean and the railings need monthly maintenance to keep rust from forming. The painting cannot be done during the rain and you arrived during the rain and it rained every day you were staying with us THE RAILINGS ARE SAFE and you know this but you for some reason you tell half-truths and flat-out lies. You asked about coming back and renting the property again but after your review and comments, you will need to find another place as we will not be renting to you again. We work hard to keep the historic building in maintained shape and are constantly adding new things to the condo to make the groups stay better and better. Sometimes you just can't do enough to please some people.

Check-in Process was definitely good, Sandra is the assistant and she is EXCELLENT! Communication was great (with both Sandra and Mr. Gregory). Great location, the downside would be the many the steps to get to the beautiful view of the penthouse. Heads up if you are there in the raining season, you will experience roof leak. Other than that, it is definitely worth the steps to get there. If you are an active person it is not going to be a problem (Not recommended for handicapped people) However, if you decide to stay at this property you have definitely have found the right location to get to know beautiful Mazatlan!

Everything was wonderful! The manager was great and told us a lot of information about Mazatlan! Super super nice lady!! Very very helpful with everything.... the only bad thing was when there was a very strong thunderstorm with high winds and in the morning the place was all wet cuz the water leaks through the roof and we had to clean it all up... but thanks to the very hot days the floor dries up pretty fast, other than that the place is huge and very very comfortable! We had a great time and plan on returning next summer!!! Thanks for everything!!

Perfect location!

We had a small group of 9 adults who spent 14 wonderful days in this perfect location, enjoying the beautiful sunsets and all that Centro Historico area has to offer. During the day, we were able to take the beach chairs onto Olas Altas beach that we overlooked, sit in the huge living room looking out to the ocean, and roam the streeets enjoying the many wonderful restaurants. Gregory and Jodie were the perfect hosts, responding to my many questions while I was in the process of booking and preparing for the trip. Once there, I frequently had questions and the response was immediate. One must remember most lodging in this area of Mazatlan is in older buildings, which is true in this case. With that, comes the quirks of older buildings, but that also means you will have lodging that has more character and charm-not a sterile building. We used the barbecue and cooked several meals there and sat at the long table, enjoying our wine, toasting to friendship, and considering ourselves lucky to have found this place!-one note, if you need absolute silence in order to sleep, this may not be the place for you if you are in one of the bedroooms that opens to the front or side streets. My room opened to the front (Olas Altas) and I loved the sound of the waves and even became accustomed to the motorcycles and the music and laughter of others. How can one not appreciate the sounds of happiness!?

Overall the experience was positive. The location in historical area was fabulous. Easy walk to several good restaurants. Lots of fun nightlife around the area. When we arrived we were greeted by Sandra who was a sweetheart. However there were some issues. The place needed cleaning. Within the hour Sandra had 2 people there and they did a good job cleaning. Then we found that the air conditioning was out in 1 bedroom. Since it was Saturday, it took until Monday to get it fixed. Also, hot water wasn't working. A handyman was called in and got it going. Went down again the next day and a plumber was called in and got it fixed for good. There were some deferred capital improvement issues but overall things were good and we had fun. One word of warning, if anyone in your party has physical issues, the stairs into the apartment can be a challenge.

Great location for a large group

This is our second stay at Olas Altas Penthouse. We come to Mazatlan with a large group of families to volunteer at YWAM Mazatlan and build a home with Homes of Hope and always enjoy our stay here. The Location, views and space is what stands out to us about this property.

The property is Beautiful, Spacious and very welcoming.

My Family spent Christmas 2016 on the Beach the property is Amazing. The location is Fabulous, with Fine dining walking distance, if you miss the hustle an bustle of all the tourist you are only a short 100 peso ride to the golden zone and all the circus there, you can return to the peacefulness. My children preferred watching sunset from the balcony, where we would all meet 1st thing in the morning also. The stay was Awesome you will see us again there.

Wonderful Spot for families staying together

Five families came down on a mission trip to help build with Homes of Hope. The Olas Altas Penthouse is in an incredible location to local restaurants and culture and has amazing views of the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon!

Pictures just don't do it justice... Beautiful clean spacious penthouse. 6 rooms .. we had 15 people easily .. the water is super filtered like 3 times and UV filtered.. had 0 issues drinking or brushing teeth with the focet water.. the main area is HUGE!! so nice to open the windows and enjoy the sounds of the waves. 2 minute walk to playa olas altas (olas altas beach).. Corona store downstairs for quick access to sodas, water, beer, snacks.. etc... plenty of places to eat within 5 min walk.. recommendations(looney bean - breakfast-coffee, hectors bistro/Krema cafe, el shrimp basket, Puerto viejo, taqueria playa sur)

Excellent place, as good as the pictures or even better!

Really nice place to stay your vacations in...was everything as described, everything worked and was under excellent conditions and clean. We were 16 and the place still felt big, it has a lot of space for a big family or friends to have a great time. And what we loves the most, the view, it was beautiful. Would definitely recommend it.

GREAT GROUP VACATIONAL PLACE

Excellent place for vacations in a big group. There were 12 people staying in there, in excellent comfortables bethrooms and facilities, the viw from the deck is breath tacking, you can appreaciate the sunset and if you hang long enough the sunrise from a perfect view, without anything blocking the horizon. Perfect location to reatreat from the big noice of the city, and close enough to noctunal life and good food. The owners are excellents on receiving people, and accomodating, special attention on details and easy to chat with. I highly recomend it.

We rented this HUGE penthouse for a staff retreat. The amazingly huge greatroom held 30 people for our events each day and 14 of us shared the bedrooms and were very comfortable. The entire house has purified water so you can drink from the faucet. The views are amazing and the owners were kind and accomodating. We would highly recommend it.

Excellent group vacation location

We rented this penthouse because of the location. It was a perfect one for enjoying alll the food and culture of Mazatlan. We were surprised it sits on one of the best beaches here so we got the best of both worlds! You overlook and hear the ocean all the time and yet have the privacy of people watching from above. You can rent bikes and ride the promenade for miles or just walk it! The rental was huge, SPOTLESS clean, with great beds and linens. We loved watching the sunsets on the authentic mexican rocking chairs! We all had the best time and are definitly going to come here again.

Why they chose this property

We have lived in Centro Historico for the last 8.5 years and have fallen in love with the charm and when we got a chance to purchase the property we could not resist the chance to rebuild the condo and share it with other families like your selves.

The historic building is always present in old pictures of Mazatlan. Some prominent families that have called this building home have added to the charm of the property, it is the last property in Olas Altas that has not been divided up into smaller properties. This penthouse has its own private entrance and as soon as you enter the property you have an overwhelming feeling of space with the ceilings in the great room soar to 20 feet. The views of the ocean sunsets from the great room are breathtaking. It is a pleasure to share this experience with many more families.

There really is no place to share that is large enough in a location like this. There is nothing that is like the Olas Altas Penthouse! When you come and stay with us you will be amazed at how big 7,600 feet really feels!
