Cute place by the lake & hiking!

Jan and Maclyn's place is absolutely adorable and provides everything you need for a weekend away! They are great hosts and gave us excellent recommendations for hiking that was practically in our backyard! We'd love to visit again and we highly recommend Kamp Knobcone.

Lovely Guest House

Ours was a great stay at a lovely guest house in a quiet neighborhood very conveniently located near the shore of Lake Tahoe. The home was very nicely appointed and had all that we needed to make it a great stay. The owners were very nice and our communications with them were great. Add to that, the weather during our stay was ideal. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Stay in Homewood!

This little cabin is an absolute delight! It is just as described in the listing and is a perfect getaway for two people. Absolutely LOVED the deep bathtub with the fireplace. Overall, very comfortable and private. The hosts were fantastic--very responsive and quick to address any issues or questions we had. Cannot wait to return!

Amazing property at a great location

One of us wanted to camp, the other wanted civilization. We both were happy. The place feels like a cabin with wonderful creature comforts. And the location couldn't be better as a jumping off point - Emerald Bay is a short drive one way, Tahoe City the other, and great hikes in every direction. As first-time visitors to Tahoe, it didn't take much to convince us that the west side is the best side for a laid-back adventure :)

This home was well-located in a quiet and beautiful area of Homewood/Tahoe. Access to the Rubicon trail is just a block away, and quick/easy drive to Emerald Bay. The guest house was a lovely home base, and perfect fo the two of us. Great instructions, and easy access. Wi-fi was great! Note: AT&T cell service is generally bad in the area, but our hosts thoughtfully provided a land line. The home looks just like the photos, and is super clean and well-appointed. We enjoyed it!

Amazing visit

Such a great, romantic place to stay for a couple! It was gorgeous and clean. The bath tub was AMAZING in addition to the gorgeous, sensual oil painting over the fireplace in the bathroom. We were able to ride the bikes which was so nice. Jan and Macyln were amazing hosts and Always answered any questions that we had. We highly recommend wolfdales! It was the best meal I’ve ever had in my life. We will definitely be back to stay here again. They were even so kind to work with VRBO to get an extra night added on for us when we asked for it :-) thank you again for the beautiful stay!

Wonderfully hand crafted hideaway!

This loft is cozy and better in person than in the photos. Just large enough for two. Easy in & out. Location on the west side of the lake allows for hiking, boating if you want and a few good places in Tahoe City to eat & hang out without the hubbub of South Lake Tahoe. There is no private deck or outdoor area. TV/ entertainment system is a bit lacking but isn’t a deal breaker.

Homewood Suite Stay

We enjoyed our stay at the rustic Homewood Suite. It was perfect our for our short visit to Homewood, CA for a couple days of skiing. The property was about a mile away from the slops and had everything needed to accommodate my husband and I. There was a little kitchen that allowed us to prepare breakfast in the morning. We enjoyed the cozy fireplace and turned it on whenever we were in the suite and it was two sided so could be viewed from the main suite or the bathroom area. The suite was clean and the owners were onsite when we arrived and stayed in the main adjacent house. The suite is completely separate from the main house and has it's own entrance. We were able to park our rental car in their driveway directly outside the suite so was very convenient. Overall, I would recommend this property for two people and would use it again if I return to the area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kamp Knobcone Studio. Jan & Mac were gracious host and made awesome recommendations. There was plenty of space for the two of us. Really appreciated the heated floors and the gas fireplace that glows into the main room and the bathroom. Skied two days at Homewood Mountain Resort. What a gem - no lines and the panoramic views of Lake Tahoe were breathtaking. Had a hearty breakfast at the Fire Sign Cafe and a wonderful lakeside dinner at Sunnyside Restaurant & Lodge. Made a day trip to Truckee, an authentic and charming out-west ski town with a cool vibe for shopping, dining & drinking. Cheers to the Morris'. We sincerely appreciate your hospitality and the comfortable/affordable accommodations. See you again when the snow is piling up in Tahoe!

Cozy studio

Lovely ,thought out craftsman style studio in a quiet neighborhood. Posted photos don't do it justice. Lovely gas fireplace and heat radiant floors kept us cozy. Kitchen albeit very small , sufficed. Location is perfect ! Hiking up into the Rubicon Trail...right up the road! We also were very pleased with the bikes available for use and road all around the western shore! Wished we had stayed one more night(it snowed !), would have been beautiful to watch from the oversized amazing windows of the studio! Very delightful stay , and would stay agin in the future! I would however like to suggest some better lighting all around for reading, and bathroom for shaving & makeup. In addition , we have a small , trained border collie that would also appreciate hiking...maybe consider allowing dogs on a case by case basis? This time we were here for a wedding...but in the future would love to bring him with us! Overall, a lovely getaway!

Pros: 1) Nice location on the West Shore. 2) Good size for two people. 3) Prior to arrival the owners were very attentive. 4) Bed was comfortable. 5) Free Wifi Cons: 1) The unit needed a thorough cleaning. Floors, blanket, fireplace and bathtub were visibly dirty. 2) In general, lighting was poor, but especially in the kitchenette and bathroom. 3) No hooks on which to hang towels in the bathroom. No wine glasses. No Kleenex. Insufficient spare toilet paper. 4) Window cleaners arrived unannounced in the morning, walking into our room without knocking. 5) In the mornings we had to negotiate the sprinklers by going around the back of the garage to avoid getting wet.

Cozy and romantic

Great, two-person rental for short trip. The bathroom with fireplace is very romantic, but the open shower caused water to get everywhere. The TV has Roku if you can spend thirty minutes figuring out how to make it work. Overall, a cute, cozy, and romantic suite for a couple.

Great place for a couple

Maclyn and Jan were amazing hosts. They were always available over the phone or by text and were super polite. Their guesthouse is cozy and charming. Check-in and check-out were easy. The cabin had great heating, the bed was really comfortable with plenty of pillows, and the bathtub with the fireplace next to it was incredible!!! The kitchen has pretty much everything you need. My girlfriend and I bought groceries and cooked most of the time we were there with no problem at all. We were lucky to get some good snow while we were there and the cabin was just perfect for a couple's getaway.

Sooo cozy, high ceilings!

I absolutely loved the cabin. Jan and Maclyn are very thoughtful hosts. My partner and I got stuck in the snow the night we were supposed to arrive and they called to check in with us. They were very helpful in ensuring we made it safely. The cabin is very clean and stylish. I love the high ceilings and the fireplace. Perfect cozy spot to relax after a day on the slopes with some music on. I wasn’t sure if there was a shower beforehand, so I was delighted to find that the bathroom is bigger than I thought. There is a bathtub big enough for 2 as well as a shower. Kitchen area is sufficient. Bedding is super comfortable. We will absolutely stay again!

Maybe I spent too much time building this place. But I was having so much fun! Working out the details of the woodwork, the wrought iron, the dramatic soaring spaces, the lofty windows, the intricate details that run right down to how the wood flooring's boards meet. I think it's one of the nicer homes I've built, and I'm sure you will, too.

Why they chose this property

The home nestles into a woodsy lot, soaring up with the tree trunks to harmonize with its environment. It's far enough from the highway to be quiet, hiking trails are nearby so I can leave the car in the garage - or drive to the lake to paddle across the shining water.

What makes this property unique

This studio was built for romance. Soak in the tub, watch the light move across the walls from a king sized bed, pop a bottle of Champagne out of the freezer and toast the moon as she rises above the trees to light the landscape in a serene glow... and when you want more adventure, it's all around you on the lake and in the forest.
