A lovely base for exploring a great area

We spent a wonderful time in this lovely apartment, with its big balcony with a view of the sea. The owners were very friendly and helpful, especially on our first evening when we couldn't start our hire car! It is a studio apartment (kitchen, sitting area and bedroom all in one room, with a separate toilet/shower room); this wasn't completely clear from the description. Mind you, if it had been stated we might have been put off, and that would have been a shame. The apartment is very well-equipped; linens, towels and even beach towels are provided. The property is quite a long walk, but an easy drive, from the centre of Paralio Astros which offers many restaurants, an excellent bakery (Frantzoli), a lovely beach, a ruined medieval castle and a picturesque harbour. The town is on the absolutely beautiful North Kynouria coast, and a few minutes inland are switchback roads leading into the spectacular mountains. We went outside high season (in October), which has the advantage that the place isn't crowded, but also the drawback that some things are unavailable. We would have liked to do a boat trip to the islands of Spetses and Hydra, but we would have had to go to Tolo to catch the boat as it doesn't call at Paralio Astros out of season. Places worth visiting: the ancient cities of Corinth and Sparta, the Corinth Canal, the monasteries of Elonas and Malevi, and the drive along the coast to Leonidio. There is a really good market (agora in Greek) in Argos, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Another must is to swim in the sea, which is clean and clear. The beaches are pebbly rather than sandy, but on the beach at Paralio Astros the pebbles are quite small so it is not too bad to walk on. One thing we didn't quite realise is that even places that look quite close by on the map take a long time to drive to, because the terrain is mountainous and the roads winding. We would have liked to go to ancient Olympia but it would have been a four or five-hour round trip. All the people we met were really friendly and welcoming. The food is plentiful and delicious, and the local wines are ridiculously cheap and really tasty.

We had the pleasure to host Jeremy and his wife. They were very friendly, polite, and communicative and left the house absolutely clean and tidy. Concerning the apartment description, we thing that it is quite accurate and there are also a lot of photos. We are happy to know that our guests had a nice time in our house and in the area of Paralio Astros, We would definitely host them again with pleasure and we strongly suggest them to other Homeaway hosts.

Joli appartement , situation idéale et propriétaires accueillants .

Avons passé des vacances reposantes et avons pu à partir de ce lieu charmant, faire d’innombrables excursions à la montagne et à la mer. Magnifique pays, et très beau village que Paralio Astros !

Vue sur la mer et la montagne

Appartemment géré sérieusement par un couple très sympathique ! Nous avons passé un très bon séjour. Le studio était très propre, avec une grande terrasse avec vue sur la mer et la montagne. Une belle plage de sable (sans détritus) en pente douce est située à 100 mètres du gite. Pas de travaux aux alentours, l'endroit était très calme ! Que du positif, je recommande !!! Merci Fany et Georges pour votre accueil et votre disponibilité !

Apartment by the sea.

On day of arrival met George and Fani at the apartment.very nice people friendly and helpful the apartment is lovely well equipped with everything you could possibly need great sea view and balcony. Fani even left us her own home made fig jam also a bottle of olive oil from their olive trees in Kalamata. Lovely stay beachs are quite and peaceful with food and drinks brought to you on the beach short walk to Paralio Astros where you will find lots of places to eat and drink by the sea excellent location will surely be returning again soon. Thank you George and Fani.
