About this property

Eco-friendly Cottage in a Quiet setting. Close to Beaches and the Village

This charming cape is located between Kennebunkport Village and Cape Porpoise, a lobster fishing village. The house sits on a 0.8 acre lot, far from the main road so space to play outside. The sunroom has a bucolic view on surrounding pastures. At night, you can view the stars in the sky or the fireflies outside. In summer, you can use the screened gazebo built in the shadow. The house is close to the two main beaches in Kennebunk (Gooch's) and Kennebunkport (Goose Rocks Beach). Each is very different and worth visiting. When looking at tidal pools, you can find young lobsters (which we once found shedding its shell), crabs, sand dollar, sea stars and hermit crabs. Sea glass can also be found nearby. The Pier in Cape Porpoise has a view of the lighthouse.
The cape has 3 bedrooms and can accommodate 4 adults.

We moved to Maine with our baby twins to work for a local company in 1999. We were looking for a family friendly area where we were able to raise our kids in a safe environment and this is what we found in Kennebunkport. We first rented the house and bought it a few years later. For me being close to water was always important. There is absolutely nothing like the sound of the ocean and walking barefoot in the sand early in the morning or after dinner to find internal peace.

Why they chose this property

We moved to Maine with our baby twins and stayed there for almost 14 years until we had to move to Vermont for work. Kennebunkport is such a lovely place to live that we decided to keep the property. There is nothing like walking on the beach to feel reenergized.

What makes this property unique

We chose this Cape because of the unique settings, between Kennebunkport Village and Cape porpoise, which is a lobster fishing village. This house is on a 0.8 acre lot, so there is plenty of place to play and is far from main road so kids can play safely. There is also a swing set, and a slide. We built a sunroom with a bucolic view on surrounding pasture. During the night, we can view the stars in the sky or the fireflies outside. In summer, we enjoy the screened gazebo that was built in the shadow and certainly the best place to eat. The house is close to the two main beaches in Kennebunk/Kennebunkport, Gooch's and Goose Rocks Beach. Each is very different and worth seeing. When looking at tidal pools, we can find some young lobsters (which we once found shedding its shell), crabs, sand dollar, sea stars and Hermit crabs.
