Eco-friendly Cottage in a Quiet setting. Close to Beaches and the Village
This charming cape is located between Kennebunkport Village and Cape Porpoise, a lobster fishing village. The house sits on a 0.8 acre lot, far from the main road so space to play outside. The sunroom has a bucolic view on surrounding pastures. At night, you can view the stars in the sky or the fireflies outside. In summer, you can use the screened gazebo built in the shadow. The house is close to the two main beaches in Kennebunk (Gooch's) and Kennebunkport (Goose Rocks Beach). Each is very different and worth visiting. When looking at tidal pools, you can find young lobsters (which we once found shedding its shell), crabs, sand dollar, sea stars and hermit crabs. Sea glass can also be found nearby. The Pier in Cape Porpoise has a view of the lighthouse. The cape has 3 bedrooms and can accommodate 4 adults. Bedroom 1- Queen Bedroom 2- Queen futon Bedroom 3- 2 Twin beds Living room- reclining sofa and 2 chairs Sunroom with papasan, swivel chair, futon, table and chairs Washing machine/dryer Office with desk

Our family loved the large yard for the kids. The house was very clean and well cared for, we had fun doing puzzles 🧩 on the dining room table.

Thank you for a lovely spot to relax and serve as home base for our Maine exploration trip. Sleeping with the windows open and all that cool fresh air in July was just wonderful. The house had everything we needed and we were very comfortable. The sunroom was a real treat and we spent most of our time out there.

Good overall. We particularly liked the location and the large private garden, well maintained. Beware of the mosquitoes though, bring repellent.
Goose rocks beach, Nunan’s lobster hut and The Tides in Cape Porpoise were wonderful. We also liked the Boathouse restaurant in Kennebunkport.
It is just about walking distance to Kennebunkport (30 min) where parking can be difficult at the height of the summer holidays.
The main negative is the internet. Max 20 mbps, and with 6 guests it kept disconnecting and reconnecting, really annoying. The cooker is probably 50 years old, and one of the hobs was not working. Only one shower is not enough for 6 guests but plenty of hot water. The baby room is not making optimal use of the space in my opinion, a single bed instead of a cot would be more useful, and I would have a travel cot available instead. We were not able to turn on the BBQ. We were not able to use the very large TV. The fridge had not been emptied from the previous guests and the food spills were not cleaned. The fans were covered in thick dust so I had to clean them myself before turning them on. There was no extra bedding available for the futon in the sun room.
Eco friendly cleaning products and laundry detergent were appreciated. Despite the negatives, we may still come back as a smaller party, knowing what to expect.
My family and I had a fabulous time at Chantal's house. It is 5 minutes from the heart of Kennebunkport, but it feels like you are worlds away from the hustle and bustle. The house has three bedrooms upstairs and a playroom with a crib downstairs. My kids loved playing with the toys in the playroom and the playset in the backyard. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook dinner at home. The refrigerator, dishwasher, washer/dryer, stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker and coffee bean grinder all work perfectly. The wifi was adequate for casual use, but probably won't be sufficient for multiple devices streaming video. Cottage Linens was very easy to use; ordered online and delivery/pickup were just as promised.
We went to Gooch's beach, Mother's beach and Goose Rocks beach. All charge $25 a day to park and spots fill up by 10:30-11. They were all good, but Goose Rocks was my favorite. The trolley museum was a fun morning (I have a train lover in my family). There is a great playground in Wells (Harbor Park) that has free parking and is a short walk to Harbor Beach (wading pools really) that my little kids loved. There is a smaller playground at 105 Beachwood Ave with free parking and a tennis court and basketball court. The playground at Mother's beach is fun, but crowded (not great during COVID) and requires a beach parking pass ($25/day or $100/wk); it is fun to play overlooking the surf and could be a fun diversion while at the beach.
As for food, there are lots of good choices, but during COVID we found Alisson's had the easiest curbside pickup, Mekhong was fabulous Thai food with online ordering, Bennett's sandwich shop also has online ordering and amazing food, and I also recommend the donuts at Congdon's which has a drive thru (next time I will try the food trucks outside Congdon's starting at 4pm).
We did have an issue with the plumbing the first day, but Chantal responded immediately to my message and the issue was fixed within hours. As any homeowner can tell you, problems will come up, but having someone reliable and responsive to call is paramount.
We would definitely stay here again!

Thank you for the great review, very thorough. It was a real pleasure to have you here. In term of the internet speed, we heard you and updated the speed to fulfill the need of a modern life and the need to work remotely or game.
Thanks again

The house and setting were lovely, we especially enjoyed the big sunroom which we just about lived in the entire time we were home. A very child friendly, well appointed space was much appreciated as we had our 10 month old granddaughter and her parents with us. Parsons Way was a very scenic 3 mile "hike" and perfect for a stroller outing. Our favorite beaches were Goose Rock Beach in Cape Porpoise and Parsons Beach in Kennebunkport. Thank You for a wonderful stay!!
Leaving a detailed review for other parents like myself who may be interested in some of the small details!
Overall- the house was great. Chantal was very easy to communicate with and even let us know the house was ready for early check in after I had asked her about this (greatly appreciated with two babies who needed to nap!)
Location is awesome- close enough to lively dock square but far away enough to feel remote and super quiet.
The sunroom was our favorite part- in the morning and nighttime when the sun wasn’t beaming down this was our favorite place to spend time.
Now for the things that could use improvement,
The wifi was very slow- I had to work one day and couldn’t take any zoom meetings on my laptop and had to use a hotspot on my phone (not the point of vacation but I only add this since it’s mentioned in the other reviews)
No air conditioning- it was incredibly hot during the day and we did travel with a newborn so this was of concern to me regarding safe sleeping conditions. Night time was fine- plenty of breeze/fans helped.
Re: safe sleep- the crib in the downstairs room has a drop side so did not feel comfortable using with our infant however Chantal did provide two pack n play cribs which were great.
The downstairs living room rug was very uncomfortable/tough for my toddler to sit and play and hard to kneel on.
Overall- more positives and just some small things I would say are important to consider for other parents traveling with small children. The house is really equipped with so much and I think with a few upgrades to the above mentioned it is the perfect summer rental for families!
We had a lovely stay. The house was large enough to spread out with the sunroom being an added plus. Private road was quiet at night and close to towns small grocery and other places to eat and things to do. Nicely appointed with a crib and toddler chair for our one year old. The high chair wouldn’t be suitable for a younger child that can’t sit upright.
Overall wonderful location and home.
Enjoyed the location—out of the way but a very short drive to town and beaches. House was very clean and had everything we needed. I would stay here again.
I stayed with my parents and 4yr daughter for one week and had a great time. The house has a very peaceful setting, on an interior lot off of the main road, with a great yard. The swing was a great thing to have in the yard. The home is comfortable and has everything you need. Its a short drive in one direction to Dock square, or about a 10min bike ride, though it's a main road and not a road for younger kids to ride on. A short ride in the opposite direction is Cape Porpoise area with a local grocery store and nice cafe with prepared foods, etc. There are also a couple of seafood restaurants in this area. We went to Mother's beach a few times, which is right next to Gooch's at the end of the beach road. The playground there was perfect.. Parking is a challenge- on the road, metered, $25 per day. During the week and later in the day we found a spot on a side street for free. Overall, we had a great week- the house is in a great location if you are looking for something a little bit away from the congestion of the downtown area, but still close enough to explore that area and all of the surrounding neighborhoods.
This house was great...clean, comfortable, nicely furnished... family friendly in a great location! Our 4yr old grandson enjoyed the toys and the playset outside. We all loved hanging out in the sunroom in the evening. Beds were comfy, kitchen was well stocked with dishes and pans, ample towels in the bath, the house offered lots of room and the1/2 bath downstairs was a plus. Thank you for a great experience!
The family stayed here again this year for Labor Day Weekend. The house has gotten better with included linens and upgrades WiFi. We spent most of our time in the awesome sun room. Kennebunkport is a great little town with great restaurants, access to beaches, and great places to kayak. This summer has had significantly more rain than last summer and the mosquitoes were much worse this year; bring bug spray to enjoy the property.
The house was immaculate and had just the right amount of seclusion and closeness to things. We loved the charm of the farmhouse also. My family loved the sunroom and spent the majority of our time there. If we ever visit the area again, we will definitely stay here.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disliked: Location
Country setting bring bug spray
The property was as described for the most part. The outside screen house looks more like a shed with firewood stored inside. We did not use it. That said, the screen room attached to the house was really great! Very country setting with ferocious mosquitos and too far to walk to the beach. Also no air conditioning so luckily the cooler weather continued and there are plenty of fans provided.
Perfect house for a family. Stocked with everything you might need, including toys and a small swing set. 5 minutes to Kennebunkport and Cape Porpoise, and 10 minutes to Goose Rocks Beach. We had a wonderful time!

Thanks Julia for your kind review. We were delighted to have you here. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. As an owner, this is the experience that we want to create so you can relax in a safe environment, without having to worry about details. Kennebunkport is definitely an amazing place for summer vacation. Enjoy the rest of your summer, Chantal
We stayed at the house for a week ending in Labor Day weekend. The house is very comfortable with plenty of beds and places to stay. The nursery on the first floor made a great work from home office. We spent much of our lounging time on the sun porch which is really special and is great in the summer and would be great in the Fall too. Kennebunkport is a beautiful town. The house is a bit far from town and beaches to walk but biking is a quick and easy way to get around. Parking wasn’t terrible in downtown either. A cocktail at Stripers restaurant watching the sunset followed by a lobster roll at Mabels is a perfect evening.
Another review mentions the WiFi which was an issue. It clocked in at ~1.5 mbps which wasn’t enough to run Netflix or a Zoom call. However, the owner was very responsive and took my suggestion to upgrade. A future tenant will enjoy freshly upgraded 100 mbps internet. Verizon service was good enough to run mobile hotspot which was sufficient to work from home effectively.
Not too close to downtown KPT. Definitely need to plan to drive a bit, especially with traffic.

Thanks for taking time to review. The house is 1.6 mile from the Dock square. It is true that during the Prelude, this distance seems longer due to traffic. I hope that you enjoyed the Prelude.
My stay here was perfect. The host was very kind and the property was beautiful. It is a bit secluded and in the woods, but I like that a lot. I would definitely recommend this property.

Thank you for this review. This is a quiet spot in a busy town.
We loved this place - a really nice cottagey-home a mile or so out of Kennebunkport in a wooded area.
Chantal was really great in the run-up to our trip and very prompt to reply to any questions we had.
It was very quiet and peaceful and everything we wanted was there. It was close to town and we went off for days to Boston and Portland etc from there.
We hope to come back again in 2021.

About the host
Hosted by Chantal
We moved to Maine with our baby twins to work for a local company in 1999. We were looking for a family friendly area where we were able to raise our kids in a safe environment and this is what we found in Kennebunkport. We first rented the house and bought it a few years later. For me being close to water was always important. There is absolutely nothing like the sound of the ocean and walking barefoot in the sand early in the morning or after dinner to find internal peace.
Why they chose this property
We moved to Maine with our baby twins and stayed there for almost 14 years until we had to move to Vermont for work. Kennebunkport is such a lovely place to live that we decided to keep the property. There is nothing like walking on the beach to feel reenergized.
What makes this property unique
We chose this Cape because of the unique settings, between Kennebunkport Village and Cape porpoise, which is a lobster fishing village. This house is on a 0.8 acre lot, so there is plenty of place to play and is far from main road so kids can play safely. There is also a swing set, and a slide. We built a sunroom with a bucolic view on surrounding pasture. During the night, we can view the stars in the sky or the fireflies outside. In summer, we enjoy the screened gazebo that was built in the shadow and certainly the best place to eat. The house is close to the two main beaches in Kennebunk/Kennebunkport, Gooch's and Goose Rocks Beach. Each is very different and worth seeing. When looking at tidal pools, we can find some young lobsters (which we once found shedding its shell), crabs, sand dollar, sea stars and Hermit crabs.
